My husband has a lot of common sense and different types of skills. He grew up in a large family with not much money, he had to learn to work on his own old vehicle. Learned farming from his grandparents, wiring & construction in high school. Saved us a lot of money over the years. It’s a blessing watching Danny & Wanda achieve their goals as a team.

That was an impressive refab. We built one inside of a metal building at the place where we deer hunt. Problem is, we don't spend enough time there to use it how it should be used for a slaughter room so we just used it as a food storage now. There aren't many men left in this world that could do all of the work you did on this build.

Isn't it a shame that more people don't try to learn the skills that Danny has learned throughout his life. He doesn't have the skills because he's lucky he has them because he's worked hard. It's sad that most Young men today don't try to learn carpentry and electrical skills. When I was in school shop was mandatory for the guys and home economics was mandatory for the girls. If that statement isn't ' woke ' enough for you then try to get over it.
I'm sure Danny and Wanda could not have all the things they have if they had to depend on paying other people to do it for them. I admire the two of you.

Amazing! We used the exact same walk in cooler on (MCLB) Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, GA. It was at the game warden's shack, and open to all of us Marine and contractors aboard the base. It allowed us to store our game there, dry age our game for free until we could process them. We all worked on the "Honor System" to maintain and keep it clean. We could hang the deer with a bucket underneath to catch the blood, but we had to quarter our wild hogs, and store those in a cooler of salt water inside of it. You're lucky to have such good friends. That restoration was purely amazing!

My Daddy used to work for Masterbilt in New Albany (Mississipi) after he sold the farm. He brought home defective wall panels and built a shed in the back yard. In winter you could heat it with a 100 watt light bulb and in summer a 5000 btu a/c set to the lowest setting would keep it cold as all getout. Mom stored her home canned stuff in there.

I’m so happy for you all ☺️ Also, don’t know if you have one close by the cooler, but when need to work in the cooler any length of time, maybe shelf/coat rack combo for gloves, coats etc so you don’t get cold for too long in it in the summer. Plus even in winter you may need to change into different coats, gloves and such. Sorry so lengthy 😂 I’m just tickled for you two! Take care

This is awesome!!!! Good job, as usual!! The cooler will be a game changer for sure. It needs a solar panel just for its self.

That’s awesome !! So happy to see all your progress and hard word you do on your homestead. Nothing wrong with using something you have old or not. I wish I knew about building a homestead and such years ago. I learn a lot from Mrs.Wanda and Mr. Danny. Thank you for your videos.

Its lovely! I told my hubby I'd love a walk in cooler with a piggybacking walk in freezer. They use that system in many big restaurants and you are right the way things are heading being able to grow your food is one thing being able to store it is priceless.
Even my daughter has started digging up her small yard and my grandson has pumpkins/ beans/tomatoes all started and us ready to go and my son asked if I can set up a couple kratky hydroponics buckets again for their tiny balcony.
Ive been digging up and expanding the current gardens.
The power outlet are a smart idea inside.
I use the foodsaver vacuum packing system for veggies freezing. Being able to slip a coat on and process veg in the cooler would probably be welcome respite from the heat in the summer.
I occasionally miss a package of frozen veggies when rotating my veg and we've had corn recently that I packaged in 2015. All the rest were from last year so not sure how that one slipped through the moves lol. But it tasted absolutely fine. No freezer burn or off flavors at all.
I also found broccoli from 2020 that got shuffled to the bottom instead of top and it too, tastes fine. I do have health issues so have help from both kids and grandchildren while cleaning and rotation or when they help me get stuff out of the freezer for dinner.
I also have been grabbing canning lids and stocking them and I found more of my canning jars. We will be canning no matter how crappy I feel lol. Im just going to power through.
I'm thinking that if prices get too bad the squirrels and woodchuck and rabbits are going on the menu. Those naughty things are always aiming to ruin my gardens anyhoo!
But great video and super jealous here!🥰😁

That is truly a God’s blessing for y’all! Now I will start praying that y’all can get a freezer to match it. 😁 I have lots of vertical space in my ravine, and I am planning to put in an underground walk in cooler and freezer. In Eureka Springs, Arkansas, there’s a seven story hotel that’s in Ripley’s Believe It Or Not because every floor is a ground floor; it’s built into the side of the mountain. I have seen it with my own eyes. Going underground, they will be better insulated and less visible; I LIKE my privacy.
