Captain : Do you see that asteroid over there Drill pilot : Yes I do Captain : It's in the way Drill pilot : We are driving a drill nothing is in our way for long
I've noticed that Jump Drives now detect subgrids and docked vessels as being on obstacle rather than part of the ship. There's probably a subgrid somewhere, preventing it from jumping.
For those that bring up the DLC being used in builds...... the reason for it being included is because it was the builders vision of their creation, same way with using mods and scripts. It is their choice, and im the same way myself. I use all the DLC's in my builds plus boat loads of mods. Its our choice.
I made on of these in survival once as my ultimate goal. Not this specific design but the same general idea. Basically it was a completely self-sustaining mining vessel that had a massive drill front as well as smaller drills on the bottoms and tops attached to pistons so I could mine more delicately if I needed things like ice for oxygen. I named it Mammon. Real problem was that after I built it I kind of lost interest in the game because my ultimate goal was complete. It was really fun building boosters and stuff for it, since I built it planetside, then launched it into orbit. I think that was the most fun part.
That bit at the back has given me ideas for some kind of like wonder house thing that has no real up or down and you can just kinda walk wherever, like say I have 2 floors I could have the one floor be upside down above the other, with a glass panel separating them so people can look up at each other
The reason the workshop page says its 92,000 blocks is because the author made changes to the ship, made a new blueprint, and immediately loaded it into the projector. It doubles the block count everytime you dont remove the first blueprint before loading an updated version of the ship.
This ship is the work of a genius. I too really like the "flipped" room at the back, but I would have put the med bay near the living quarters, and maybe built something more "main engineering"-like at the back of the ship.
tried to do that but couldn't find a good place to put a staircase to the lower two sections of the ship and med bay I just couldn't find a place for it to pipe it up without it looking weird
Interested to hear if anyone has tried this ship. Based on my test large-grid mining ships, the layout of the front drills is completely insufficient for (left click) drilling straight through an asteroid, as it will not clear enough in between each drill and the ship will essentially bottom out on the thruster/light/camera blocks. In this video presentation, we only saw a left-click drill briefly, as it was then switched over to right-click, which is not problematic as the drill range is much larger.
As long as you dont go to fast or wiggle about nothing breaks and if u set up the pam automining it will run until the job is done without issue, it took two years to get to this state
a better design would be to spread the drill heads to allow 1 block space between them, also to allow the overall assembly of drills, to be taller and wider than the ship itself to reduce chances of it getting hit by the asteroid while tunneling through it.
A LOOOOOOONG time ago, before planets and before room pressurization, I made something similar. It was a pain to use without crashing the game, but things have come a long way.
On a Vs Match I like the idea of hiding in an asteroid, Ejecting the chunks as debris and firing backwards from the hole when the other team peaks. Free armor.
Yes this was built in survival didnt want to risk clang it was built when clang was a lot more of an issue in the game also more drills are faster/ look better
@@albiorix9645 I found it after a few days of searching. It's large grade of mining ship 552- some something else. I forgot the last digits. I keep on running into this issue where people only upload their stuff to steam and not mod IO so there are ships that we do not have access to sadly
It looks good but ill stick to my survival built moon mauller, built in the good old days when mining created debris that could be collected with a gravity generator.
Yes its an astroid auto miner the fact it has heavey armor and 5 large cargo containers ensures its not well suited for gravity but it can fly over half full in moon gravity just on ion
I don't not mean to be mean or make anyone feel bad. I am merely curious: I hear your pronounciation is a little different from other english speakers. The letter R sound like a W. My question is this: is it a dialect? Reason I ask is i've heard a few people speak similarily on BBC. Anyway. Cool videos! Thanks for making them for us! :)
That's a good vanilla design just looking at the screenshot but you wouldn't need nearly as many drills if they were modded. Full retro fit of the front should be Step 2 after printing the shift in your survival world
Look at my mining ship. its so awesome. I slapped a million drills on it. isnt it cool? (most servers would never allow something like this to be built.. ie drill limits)
I love the things you can do in this game wish the console version had a ability to switch the pcu limit off...I have a series X...almost 90% sure I can handle more blocks....can't ever build something like this🥲

Its just the projector if its on it has this problem theres no subgrids

They just have to use is older version of the ship it as vanilla block.

Hell ya. That’s cool af. I’m gonna try that
Connecting this to a extreme large grid 3D ship printer would be legendary. Printing out ships like printing money.
I love the look of it. Reminds me of the gigantic excavators in pit mines.
it was inspired by the machines that built the channel tunnels from England to France
It is a minigame inside SE that I call Space Overengineers.
started work on it in early 2019 and never stopped

I did that in as many places possible and put thrusters in the gaps

When Origin Jumpworks makes mining ships.

Ship builders think of everything nowadays.
You have stinky toilet ? Just open the airlock
Can you mine a planet with that thing?
as long as you only want to go straight down and never return to the surface works fine on some moons though.

imagine if you swapped the thrusters out with atmos and chewed through a whole planet

This used to have a collector on top for that but i changed it to another parachute
Wonder if the designer tested it. With that many drills. It will fall like a rock in gravity
he probs designed it for only space. Tbh, space is a crutch for players to make absurd ships with huge size and pitiful amounts of thrust
