Deep Purple are still one of my Favorite bands from the very first time i saw them Live Coventry Theater 1974 i have had long Career in the music Business as A roadie / assistant Sound Engineer / Drum Technician etc from 1974 up to 2005 31 years the first 27 years in working men's Clubs ( Club Land ) as my Hobby with mostly local bands in my home town . the last 4 years fully Professional. Hawkwind & Wishbone Ash so i know what i am talking About . what the Hell is this Its All over the place i don't think the drummer as even heard sail away before. Bass and drums Are the back bone to any band The rhythm section for the rest of the band Hughes and this drummer clearly Are not playing the same song not the right feel or tempo they are Fartherer apart musically than the Physical 6 feet on stage No drum fills either after the Abysmal guitar intro the drummer should count them all in on his sticks either 1 - 2 start on 3 ( not counted) or one Not counted 2-3-4 and in on 4 this drummer dose not And that's why it all over the place time And Tempo God alone knows what the Hammond player is pretending to play no sound from the Hammond until 1 min 40 Sec Jon Lord would be turning in his grave if could hear this this guy. Hughes as had too much weed at some point in the day before show time he used to be excellent in the 70s This particular rendition of sail Away is no where near the original. overall in my opinion if you are going to have a twilight career get to Know the other band members rehearse rehearse rehearse rehearse is the key make them listen to all the songs on the set list before Rehearsals and and on the tour bus between gigs. I'm not Asking for note perfect 40 odd years down the line but somewhere close would be nice purple Used to rehearse for weeks before going on tour. and Should you be A tribute Band to any band or group regardless of the genre its got to be note for note Perfect ,time, Tempo, feel if not Don't Bother Ive seen countless so called Trib band's murdering other peoples song to the point of cringe worthiness. Glenn didn't kill on that song back in 74. Its was actually a genocide ! This song is the most hardcore, in your face, stuff Glenn has EVER done. You don't even need to light up one to trip on this song
