The only way I get it to work is by creating a null in particular and moving it to a position of 0 (x) and 50 (y). Then it’s on the text. But it does not look like you have to do that to position the layer emitter.
@@henrymortimer7280 check out the position of the locked light layer that gets automatically added to your scene. Make sure it's matched up with your layer emitter's position correctly.
Yes! Just copy and paste your vector shape into a mask path on a solid layer, turn that layer 3D, and point to it just like Michael pointed to the text layer in this video.

I have this setup like you, but as soon as I change from point to layer emitter, the emitter moves to the bottom right of my comp. Any ideas?
