If we’re gonna suck, at least spring is more fun. We never heard from Jimbo in the spring. But Elko interacts with the fans as much as any coach out there. It’s like he likes us.
I'm feeling like he might be the right hire. Any way hook'em 🤘
@@jackburton4892 a non obnoxious longhorn fan in an A&M video. What a pleasure!
Josh, thank you for saying the most important part of this whole discussion out loud - A&M hasn’t had the top-tier resources for very long. It’s only been since 2013, so about 10 years. Half with Jimbo, half with Sumlin. If they find the right guy, there’s no reason they can’t compete. Just because they haven’t doesn’t make it impossible 👍
Thing is, they had top tier resources (at times) well before 2013. Back when R. C. Slocum was the HC, they had the resources to compete AND the right guy as coach: the result was a 4 year stretch when they went 42-5-1, including one fully unbeaten season (10-0-1) and another season where they were unbeaten in the regular season (12-0) and only lost in the bowl game to a Lou Holtz-coached Notre Dame team. Then they switched conferences and started falling behind in the resources battle.
In the 1970's they had the resources and -- for a few years -- the right coach, and had several years of great success under Emory Bellard. Bear Bryant didn't stay very long, but while he was there, A&M had the resources to compete and the right man as coach (and you do need both.) Homer Norton had the resources to compete and was the right man. Same with Dana Bible and Charley Moran.
A&M wasn't in the poor house every year of their history until a magic money tree popped up in 2013. They've had plenty of times when they had sufficient resources before -- it's just a matter of getting the correct coach.
@@dentonyoung4314 EXACTLY
RC was awesome, but he didn't give a FUCK about offense
But what you're missing was that this area wasn't exactly what a top tier athlete would want to go. It was really boring for city boys. The area has grown a lot and that part has also gotten way better on top of the resources that the program has added. It's a place on would like to live now.
@@sterlingkellogg-clarke2738 This statement "RC was awesome, but he didn't give a FUCK about offense" is not true at all. The fact was that he meddled way too much in the offense. That is what drove away Toledo, Emsminger, and Kragthorpe.
Son goes there. I have season tickets. I am a realist. Won’t believe anything until I see it. I do think bringing in a blue collar guy like Elko was a good move. Time will tell.
He's smart too
Agree. Will believe it when I see it
Texas A&M is incredibly consistent at being inconsistent. We may go 2-9 then beat Texas at the end of the season, and there will be little to no surprise for the students
Beat who?
Jimbo was always the guy that could bring in top tier talent, but that talent almost never meshed well together and way too many times you would hear football players names on the local news for something other than good football. Elko is not going to put up with that and is bringing a new mindset to the program and I'm all about it. We have a rough schedule this year, but hopefully Elko gets things on the right track.
Look at the draft results…top recruits didn’t turn into top NFL talent. Enough said.
A&M will be elite on the defensive side of the ball under Elko. The offense will always depend on the coordinator because he’s not touching that side of the ball. I have no idea if that correlates with 9,10,11 wins but they’ll be better than the Jimbo era.
Getting rid of Dumbf*** Fisher is a 2 win improvement right there if you replace him with a lava lamp. Replacing the lava lamp with Elko is, hopefully, another 2 win improvement.
We're not just a sleeping giant. We've been a giant in a medically induced coma
12th man NEVER erodes, faith in coaching has its doubts, but overall team support is always at its highest.
Here’s my take on if/when we’ll know that Elko is the guy (and he is). First, are they winning close games? Second, are they stomping teams they should stomp? Third, are they coming back from being down in the second half? Also, I want to say something derogatory about an ugly colored team but won’t. Use your imagination.
That ugly colored team has three conference titles and a national championship since the last time the farmers even played in a conference title game. Say all the derogatory things you want. Doesn't change the fact that A&M is the place players go to leave without a championship ring.
Still appreciate Jimbo…beat Bamma, brought in top recruits,…But it was time…..GigEm
Hey, rare tennessee mention 😂
I graduated in 1980 and during my stay we started really changing into a University not long before that we were Texas A&M College and primarily a Military Academy. We had little resources and Varsity had all the money and unlimited scholarships. Varsity is t.u.
Being a civil engineer I have been in a room with a bunch of rich Aggies. They all wanted to be in charge and we could accomplish nothing. So hopefully they are learning to tone down their ego’s and let the professionals handle business. I think it’s happening. Maybe a new rich becoming old rich.
Sucks to be an aggie 🤣
Josh Is a quiet a&m fan 😂😂😂😂😂
Only a matter of time he’ll be interviewing and visiting Texas a&m
He will be at tu before A&M. Silly comment
@@Coleknowsballyou sure, he’s visiting the long horns Tomorrow, what’s stopping him from visiting A&M 😂
@@tyronpouncey5985 you just repeated what i said lol.
Texas A&M is a richer version of Mississippi State
Except it’s richer than Alabama and Ohio state too
@@collinmarlow9094 too bad they can’t convert money to championships..
It is not that easy and you damn well know it. The Aggies have the resources of a top ten program, but lacked the leadership and execution. Even if Elko is the right guy, it won't happen overnight.
We COULD make a big leap, and I hope we do. But it ain't just flip a switch. See Georgia. How long did they have to have number one class after number one class after number one class - and lots of experience - before they got over the hump?
A&M hasn't had the right guy since R. C. Slocum. For their sake, I hope Elko is the guy.
I think the comments section is your fan base mood tracker. I see the season as a huge question mark. It could be the euphoric 2012 "Welcome to the SEC" season all over again, or it could be the horrific 2022 "lose to app state in week 2 and never recover" season. Battered Aggie Syndrome having set in, I'm inclined to expect the latter but I'm hopeful for more.
Difference between Texas and Texas A&M is that Texas was a has been until very recently. A&M has always been a "never was". So being "back" isn't a thing that can really be applied to them. That being said, thanks to the money that's floating aroumd there these days, they could definitely be a force if they ever learn to get out of thwir own way.
Bout time
Texas A&M is always the National Champ from now up through most of August and within a month they are National Chumps.🤣
Josh will be giving some version of this monologue annually until he retires. He'll never understand that the football gods hate all male cheer squads that say and do a bunch of goofy shit.
Of course Pate’s right that the right coach would be able to make good use of all that oil money and real estate but I just can’t help but feel like there’s some unseen hand that doesn’t want that to happen for A&M. The same kinda unseen hand one that likes to torment pro teams like the NY Mets or NYJets.
We’re coming.
Since 1939
@@thekey1682 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
In this video Josh Pate describes the mood of Texas A&M fans, in other words, himself.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 right we all know he’s a fan
The mood is delusion lol. They should be optimistic this season. And weary if this season doesnt work out.
Sucks to be an aggie 🤣
It’s great being an Aggie. We’re a big wealthy cult who hires each other, and you’re never going to be in the club. You’re not even a grad of your favorite team, you probably took a couple of community college classes, and are a t-shirt fan of texass or something.
aggie gonna aggie 🤘
Sip gonna sip

🤘👍 gonna be fun having the rivalry back
Just hope for y’all’s sake that it isn’t 80’s & 90’s Aggie that Aggies lol.
you’ve been spewing this same bullshit forever
which part is bs
I think they hired the wrong guy.. elko may work out. The interim coach probably shouldve stayed for a while
Texas A&M is forever the 'little engine that could'! 3 conferences spanning decades and less than 6 conference championships. Let alone winning a natty... the one guarantee that Aggie football will fulfill is the guaranteed disappointment by week 5 when they lose tobsome team they shouldn't have.
Pate thinks everyone is a championship contender? “Shocker”…said no one. Actually, he doesn’t really think it, but his goal is to placate every fan base. “That makes for a very interesting show”…said no one.

idk it’s about time they shut that program down. That stadium would make an amazing NFL scene
Are they still Division I?
@@raggles123 you serious
Texas AM will always be little brother in Texas just saying

A&M can never be that type of program because Texas exists. Texas is the team in Texas
Texas has had ONE good year since A&M left! Aggies have finished in the top 4 of the final rankings twice in that time.
Texas has had a worse record while playing in the weaker Big 12 while A&M has been in the SEC West… much more difficult yet better record. But don’t let facts get in your way.
@@mikephillips4475 🤣🤣🤣 using the covid year when Bama dragged you up and down the field, and u only beat 2 teams with a winning record. Also, you were mediocre in the Big 12 south where you'd usually finish after OU, Texas, and TTech.
