Looks like SEC QB potential in about 2 years is loaded with elite talent. Barring injuries, Underwood at LSU will be must see talent on display
TL; DR for the meemaws: Texas 9.5 // UGA 9.25 // LSU 9 // Bama + Florida + Tenn 8.5 // Ole Miss 8.25 // Okla 7.5 // Mizzou 7.25 // A&M 7 // USC West + Kentucky + Ark 6.5 // Auburn 5.5 // MSU 5 // Vandy 4.5 -- any surprises?
Thanks
LSU over Bama. I mean Milroe held his own against the Heisman winner on the same field last year. And that guy is gone.
Thank you for your service. 😜👌🏻
I think Ole Miss quarterback room is better than all three teams with an 8.5… it’s ridiculous how he just gave higher ratings to quarterbacks that haven’t even played many games but we will see.
@@michaelroberts6534 Ole Miss is still Ole Miss. And Lane is still Lane. No Saban to throw him off but he still does stupid shit that keeps him from getting over the hump.
Oklahoma for sure has their QB of the future. Michael Hawkins Jr is THAT GUY. I think OU will have a Baker to Kyler passing of the torch between Arnold and Hawkins…
Here's a dude that KNOWS.
At some point people have to stop judging Milroe on potential, but on actual results. I just don't get the hype with him. Simpson is a better overall QB IMO.
SEC champion
Undefeated in the SEC despite a porous o line and being a first year starter
5th in heisman voting
Bad snap away from a Natty
But please keep going with your narrative...
@@pjpugh2526he was 6 in heisman voting
At some point a causal fan like you should stop talking...but it is not today.
Simpson struggled against USF. Milroe is the best QB on that team and he’s only gonna get better under Deboar
He’s only played for 1 season. Jayden Daniels had a very average season in 2022 then won the heisman in 2023. If at the end of this season Milroe is still underperforming, then you can talk, and I’ll actually agree with you. But until then, I think you’re jumping the gun way too early.
Why are you so confident in Arch Manning? There’s not much data to prove he’s any better than Walker Howard at Ole Miss
Well since neither have really played in college, we can only go based off where they were ranked coming out of high school.
@jemazondo9331 Walker played against real competition in high school. Arch played at a 2 A school, so Basically played against kids just above home screen. He is being ranked by his last name.
@@stweaselSame 2A school where he beat Peyton numbers in TD and Eli yards
And even if you want to say Texas back up secondary sucks, that first play 75 yard bomb TD was a dime to Deandre Moore.
@@stweaselSo trust your evaluation over Sarks?
Michael Hawkins being overlooked as OU’s future qb is going to be golden in coming years😅
I'm curious to see what Beck does this year. He's in his 5th year in the program (had a redshirt year), but it's only his second year starting, with only 58 attempts total in the three years he was eligible to play. Typically, this year one to year two progression is where you'd expect the biggest improvement in performance. But, he lost his two biggest receiving targets to the NFL. Additionally, I'd argue that the running backs (assuming health) will be better in 2024 than they were in 2023, and the OL is expected to be strong, so maybe they run the ball more?
Will be interesting to see how the season plays out.
Have you seen the WR room he’s throwing to?
@@LaFlamaBlanca757 Of course. There is a lot of talent, none of it has been the go-to guy at UGA yet.
I personally expect Beck's numbers to improve next year over 2023. But it's always tough to project future performance in CFB. He managed almost 4000 yards in his first year starting. If he improves on that, UGA could be absolutely sick in 2024.
@@saldiven2009 Important to note that Kirby has said that he and Bobo held Beck back in the early part of last season. They say they are ready to "take the leash off" completely. If Arian Smith stays healthy, he stretches the field quite a bit.
I'm also curious. He always had slightly stronger fundamentals than Bennett, but Stetty's great strength was being able to dig in and find a way to win the game no matter what. Beck is also very very good but I'm not sure he's got that level of deep nasty grit.
I was at the spring game and it was incredibly boring football - because the defense is so good it stalled out both offenses. One defensive player admitted they'd seen those offensive plays for the last month straight so they knew exactly what was coming. That..... kind of makes me nervous? But it's also a testament to the core strength of Georgia, which has always been a rock solid defense. We've just actually had good enough offensive production to match it for the last few years, which has been a treat.
@@wpony714 Arian Smith or Anthony Evans
Florida should consider using Lagway similar to how Meyer used Tebow in 2006. Not so much as a battering ram more so with the RPO stuff. He would be hard to stop in the redzone.
Just start him
Maybe at some point but you gotta see what Mertz can do. His numbers improved A LOT his first year in Gainesville. Also its not great to rush your freshman QB into action with the toughest schedule in the country.

It's hard to believe that OU and Texas are playing an SEC schedule this year. It just seems foreign.
Texas ain't playing an sec schedule, it's all fluff
@@TheMonst3rmutPhil Steele rates Texas SoS at 38; that’s out of 130+ teams. So it’s a bit lower than Texas SoS usually is but it’s still in top third.
They’ve got 3 rivalry games in ATM, OU and Ark; they play Michigan and Georgia; and some other ranked teams (Kentucky etc).
Anyone who says a schedule that faces Georgia is “all fluff” has a screw loose.
@@TheMonst3rmutTrue; they aren't playing the SEC norm of 4 powder puff non-conference games.

Pretty objective rating of the qb rooms. Tennessee, Alabama, OU and SC I think have the highest ceilings for their starters. Bama and Georgia will likely have the best offensive performances because they have less downside
You and JP are both off your rockers. Beck is better than Ewers both as a college player and a pro prospect. Gunner Stockton has more experience than Manning. 2 more studs behind them in Rashada and Puiglisi.
@@denniscarney5249 all unproven dudes other than ewers. I also think they have lower ceilings than the qb’s I mentioned. I think the UT qb room is great tho. They have what they need to compete at a high level.
@CiviTac again, the backups for every school are pretty much "unproven." I'll take the guys practicing against the best defense in the country, tho. How exactly are you defining "upside" with dudes whose last serious tape came from high school? Are you one of these guys that are going to tell me DJ U, Cam Ward, and Jordan Travis will be franchise QBs in the NFL?
4.5 star? Lmao
Michael Hawkins is crazy to write off as Oklahoma’s next qb
Very true, just shows the limited knowledge on OU. Wait wasn’t ARNOLD also an Elite 11 MVP as well.
@@Dengland83 he was and is lol but they crazy Hawkins is crazy crazy good
@@Dengland83 Jackson is just as every young fresh start player is, but he’s gonna do his thing eventually
I’d rate the room at an 8 or 8.25. I thought 7.5 was far too low in comparison to how he rated other teams’ QB rooms.
OU gotta earn SEC respect. Ain't none being handed to them.
Do more of these with different positions!
I think the SEC needs to be thankful that they have such great Qbs. Now I can remember the times where SEC qbs were just these statues that were inaccurate but could throw the ball deep (think Zach Mettenburger types. There have been some outliers most notably Cam, Tebow and Manziel) now these qbs are considered like top tier athletes as well as accurate (more scheme change than anything but still) and decent deep ball in this conference now with Dart, Milroe, Ewers, Carson Beck, Nico and the new 5 stars coming in and the QBs that have come out of the SEC as 1st round guys in the last few years have been unreal to the ground and pound conference it used to be just crazy to think about
Wasn't Conner Weigman something like top 3 in QBR before his injury last season? If that offensive scheme is anything like advertised he could be dangerous.
Diego Pavia the QB who beat Auburn last season against New Mexico St. 🇲🇽🇲🇽
Pretty balanced and fair assessments. I am a Longhorn fan but agree with the comments that Ewers and Beck both have to elevate their games this year. Potential aside, it is what they actually have shown in preseason conversations. Both have solid production but not elite which is why they came back to play this year. Depth appears to be an issue in the league and rarely do the starters make it through all year without sitting out a bit. I think Milroe will do really well this year too in a new system but still shine.
Sarks scheme makes Ewers look better than he is imo, not to mention being gifted freaky athletes to throw to his entire career at Texas. And he’s still yet to be tested a full season in a true defensive conference like the SEC is, and considering he still struggled against big 12 defenses I believe that he’s got quite a long way to go to be where some think he’s at.
UK has decent QB depth for the first time since the Lorenzen/Boyd days. 2 backup QBs whom have started 10+ games plus Vandergriff, not to mention a 4/5 star QB in addition to them.
Once again the cool kids short Oklahoma a point. Y’all need to go back and revisit the tape on Casey Thompson dude is a plug and play baller! Hawkins proved in the spring game he is a dual threat and is flying under the radar of the talking heads. OU QB room is in good shape with Hawkins and Thompson sitting behind Jackson.
OU should rate 8.5
Little known fact about Gunner Stockton, Carson Beck's backup at Georgia is that he threw for 13,500 yds, 177 passing tds and ran for another 77 tds in his high school career. He has little game experience but practices against one of the best defenses in the country! He has followed a trajectory almost identical to Carson's in the program. Arch Manning certainly has better pedigree but has not had the opportunity to practice against a legitimate defense at Texas! When Gunner's time comes, he will have already faced better defenses than he will go up against in real games. Not sure that can be said of Arch.
what has arch done to merit as the best backup? dont get it
What has any other backup done for warrant it? It's all speculation
Arch-Some amazing play when he was put into games last year
@@tullfarley4962 Arch played in 1 game last year. A 50 point blow out against Tex Tech.. he went 2/5 for 30 yards.. what exactly were these "amazing" plays?
You talk about unproven backups but at Texas all you mention is if Ewers goes down call in Arch. How many starts does Arch have? Other than have the last name Manning, what exactly has he done?
How do you take into consideration a QB in the equation..who has not signed yet to rate a QB room...
I know the order was random, but I just knew Arkansas would be last 😂 I have realistic hopes for this season. Hey, at least we still have baseball and basketball! WPS!
Mertz played good football last year. Mertz will play GREAT football this year!!
Milroe improved so much last year. Look at the difference between USF and Georgia.
Brady Cook is going to put up insane numbers
Cutter Boley has the abilities for Kentucky but the decision making has to get better to be the future. Stone Saunders is a commit that if he stays put is the future at the position
Cutter Boley hasn’t played a single college snap. Wdym his decision making has to get better?
Well he chose to play QB at UK…so the decision making is certainly questionable at best.
I’m in the camp of thought that Taylen Green will be good but we will see. Ceiling of all ceilings will be 8 imo and anything less than a bowl game and we won’t have Sam Pittman as a coach. Hitting the reset button in this time of college football is rough.

"Arch Manning is the best back up in the country". Where the F did you get that from???🤣
It became obvious when he played against elite competition in high school, won Elite 11, and then stepped in when Ewers got hurt and lit up the teams he played.
My condolences. The eye test is much easier when they aren't crossed.
Walker Howard is unproven, so Ole Miss has 3rd best qb room. But Arch Manning has 5 completions for 30 yards and is the best backup in the country, lol
@ShaunRHouser he did not play elite competition in high school, nor did he light up any team
You must be joking lol
Not being a hater at least not trying to be but why does everyone just automatically places Arch Manning as the best backup in the COUNTRY. How does anyone know that? I don’t know if he’s better than Ty Simpson.
People love a back up quarterback
I wouldn't put him ahead of Casey Thompson. He might end up being better but if he gets thrown in the fire it might get ugly. Or he might be great, we just don't know. Texas's secondary is a sieve this year so his Spring Game performance should be taken with a grain of salt. Calling him the best backup in the nation is a huge overstatement.
Watch all the film u can on him. Spring game and when he came in last year. He just looks different than everyone else. He honestly looks better than quinn whose been starting for 2 years now. People who scout see a lot of good in his game. And his processing appears to be way ahead of schedule too

When Floridas QB room was better than Ole Miss you lost me.
Well let’s see Florida had graham mertz who had one of the highest qbr’s in the country last year with a TD/INT ratio of 20/3 and they picked up the #1 qb in the country out of high school who does ole miss have after Jaxson Dart
You're rating the team not the QBs. Mertz has the potential to be a top 5 maybe one of the top 3 QBs in the SEC and DJ Lagway is a future star. The rest of the team is a big ol ? I'm not just drinking the koolaid, his stats backed it up last year, I was originally very underwhelmed when we got him out of the portal. He was also playing some of his best football before he got hurt. Not discounting Jackson Dart at all, he's a serious contender for one of the best in conference, but if he goes down, I would be more excited for Lagway than Howard.

LSU is totally unproven. Don’t understand their high rating at all😮
Garrett Nussmeier dropped 300 yards and 2td's in the SEC championship game in his 1st ever start at LSU against the best defense in the country
(Georgia) dude is a stud when it comes to the deep ball. go watch those highlights. Collin Hurley was a 5 star QB in the 2025 class but he reclassified to 2024 and he got lowered to a 4 star since he's a year younger. but Nuss has definately proven that he can ball and he played behind and learned from the Heisman for 2 seasons.
It’s called LSU privilege. They get ranked high every year no matter what they actually do. Brian Kelly gets ranked high even though he hasn’t done much. College football media loves LSU more than any other team it seems. They can go 9-3 every year and still be picked to win it all. All talk no substance.

Arch Manning being the best back up in the country just isn’t realistic

@@yelalol not rage bait. It just an opinion. His rating weren’t bad he just is a little low on guys like Ty Simpson and high on guys like arch manning.
Why do you give Tennessee and Nico more of an edge than OU and Jackson. They both played roughly the same amount last year. Jackson in his time threw more TD’s, higher comp%, higher rushing and passing avg. played in more pivotal game, on the road against BYU. He has just as a high ceiling as anybody if not higher.
You watched that Arizona game as I did, he has something that is extremely rare, the ability to forget bad plays, he kept throwing with confidence. It was a perfect lessons learned game for him and will prove a great thing for the upcoming season. I think OU should be around 8-8.5. They arguably have the most experience with the backup.
UK has at the very least a potential long-term answer in Cutter Boley. He was a highly regarded recruit and if you factor in recruiting (like you must be for Arch Manning) then you must not have done your research on the UK roster
I still don’t get the hype around arch. Like he’s not some generational talent. Based on everything we’ve seen of him he’s probably an average to above average QB
I remember watching Jaxon Dart in the bowl game a couple of year ago, if it wasn't for him, Ole Miss loses to Tech by 50 & he did it while getting beat up consistently in the game.
He’s tough. Thankfully the offensive line should be better. There’s also a pretty big difference between the level of competition Dart has been playing versus Ewers. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ewers doesn’t improve much this year or if he regresses because he’s going to be playing better teams, although Texas does have a pretty favorable schedule.
Palmer’s review had the wrong receivers catching the ball based on the routes he was lining up at the beginning of the play. The movements were wonky with Burton innovating. In short I am not sure Palmer actually understood what was going on
Although I don’t agree with it 7.5 for OU is fair. That being said I think Michael Hawkins is the future QB here and anyone who watched the entire spring game knows it. Best part is that he will actually have time to develop and become a better baller rather than being thrown into the fire.

Speaking of dink and dunks btw, did you know that 90% of Ewer's passes in 2023 were under 20 yards? Or that over half were under 10 yards? Or that 30% were behind the damn line of scrimmage? If you seriously believe that he actually did anything to deserve full credit on the stats sheet for these passes that were entirely on the ball catcher to make the play then you should never argue in a football context ever again. These kinds of stats don't make an NFL QB, and his deep ball accuracy concerns, sloppy footwork, low release and gimmicky offense that doesn't develop a QB's necessary NFL skills are all valid concerns I have in regards to Ewer's skill.

@johnberger8817 As I stated, I'm familiar with the modern reference. I just don't particularly like it because it mimics the spelling of the nickname for that team in Athens, GA.
Nice pejorative aimed at me, BTW.
@@CTNCS_Gator LOL, glad you caught that. All in fun.
Dang Nico above Jalen already given no second stringer in Tennessee
Gaston Moore may not be a flashy name but he is a very solid backup. He has been in Heupels offense since Heup was at UCF
I totally agree regarding Gaston Moore. He understands the system, and he's a vet. Very underrated.
The freshman, Jake Merklinger tore up the orange and white game as well.
@@huntercondra1113 I am sure Tennessee has a second stringer. I was basing off Josh’s evaluation.
Jake Merklinger was a 4 star recruit and we have another 5 star coming in after this season. TN QB room is fine. It’s kind is similar to LSU. They have the No. 1 and No. 2 QB’s in the 2025 class
Oklahoma's OC last year was an idiot, he barely ever let Jackson Arnold get a y meaningful snaps, not even wnen they were blowing teams out!
Is the new OC a step up for Oklahoma U?
@@dmanwainright2132 1,000% he literally cost us the Kansas game with HORRIBLE PLAY CALLING AND CLOCK MANAGEMEMT
You’re rating floridas qb the same as Alabama!!?!?? The bama rating is low id say a 9 but to say they’re equal to Florida is criminal
Florida has the two best qb’s in the sec
7 25 is too low for Mizzou. Cook is better than that. 4th in SEC in passing yards, 6th in QB Rating.
Pate is saying that they are only 0.75 better than Kentucky, who's getting their QB's via the portal?
News on ryan williams please
Given the choice this season I'd take Beck/Stockton over Ewers/Manning. Manning lacks rep's. He's not ready to jump in full time against Michigan, Oklahoma, Georgia. Beck's just better than Ewers.
What about Marcel Reed ?
I gotta disagree man, Although we haven't seen much of Walker or Austin Simmons, we can say the same thing about Arch. Walker and Austin two very high recruited guys like Arch
Guys that know have a year in the system as well
That’s the first time I disagreed with you. Arkansas 6.5 & A&M 7.0????
Nico is gonna lead SEC stats; watch.
@Josh Pate.....you do realize Vandy has 2 qbs that have actually won SEC football games, right? Pavia is a 10 game winner with a SEC road win yet you rate Auburn, the team he destroyed in their own house, a higher rating. The back up is Nate Johnson, who started multiple games at Utah and beat a SEC as a freshman.
I honestly didn’t even know vandy fans existed
Go Georgia Bulldogs from Augusta Georgia 🏈🏈🏈
know you only talk about the frontrunners on this show is the norm but putting arky at the doormat talk about them last and so on , i think 6.5 is very low smh, hopefully he and bp prove us all wrong but i believe the qb room is much better than ur giving credit
Pate is a hack. Cook 3k passing, 21 TDs, 6 INT. 6 rushing TDs. 60% completion.
The Mizzou rating is a joke. Cook is going to light it up this season. And Mizzou has a credible, experienced backup who played at Notre Dame
Cool now do the other 3 conferences, do your best to not leave out the BIG12, I know that’s hard for you but I’m sure you and Jesse can accomplish this task. Best of luck to you both.
Why would he. Nobody cares about y’all
Big 12 lol they dont deserve a top 4 bid in playoffs they just lost the only teams that made it even decent @@A_K_Adams
Why would Auburn bring in all those WR’s and not have a qb who can get it to them. Then wrs going to be in the portal quick
Same ole Texas suck-fest.
Quinn “isn’t elite”. Arch is the best backup in the country? How so? His 5 attempts for 30 yards ? So not elite and someone that has five more snaps than me is somehow the best backup and the aggregate score comes to 9.5. Makes perfect sense.
Oh and Arch played at a bum school in a bum division in high school. “He broke his uncles passing record!” Yeah they didn’t run five receiver hurry up sets when Peyton was in high school 35 years ago. Arch will be a bust, perfectly at home at Texas
Arch manning overated! Was not impressive in highschool. Played at small private school and 1 spring game doesn't mean anything. Mark my words Texas is not back they be the biggest disappointment in cfb
