Things Stephen did that are part of the quintessential Subnautica experience: 1. Overstock on acidic mushrooms. 2. Panic. 3. Craft something twice he only needed one of. 4. Get strong feelings about a specific fish, in his case Gary. Popular alternatives include peepers, hoverfish, and Wilson volleyball. 5. Craft lubricant. Can't get much more essential than that, even the PDA says so. Surprisingly no drowning. As someone who was terrified of this game, I will tell you this: fear is caused by ignorance. A shark that keeps you up at night is worse then a shark that bites your toes every morning.
Well yeah the shark that bites your toes every morning will only make an appearance 10 times before you never have to deal with it again so it's gunna be less scary than the one hiding behind your bed keeping you up at night
@1:20:20 “did it (creepvine sample) disappear? It disappeared!” *swims directly past it floating where he dropped it* 🤭 I’m new to this channel and this convinced me…I’ll stay😉
So happy to see Stephen playing this game. I too suffer the deep water fear. But this game is worth it. Can't wait for him to experience the entire game.
Spent at least half of this pleading with the universe for Stephen to actually pin the recipes so he doesn’t constantly forget everything about what he’s trying to do
I'm about three weeks behind on vlogs and don't get me started about ToTK, but I love this game even with my love (and fear) of deep ocean😂❤ so I clicked SO fast when this video showed up
I very much enjoy the wonderfully quirky #Fish2Win (nonofficial title I'm headcanoning) alerts. Very unique 😂. Looking forward to the rest of the gameplay! Enjoy!!!
I'm doing something right now so I'll watch later, but I'm so excited for this. I've been meaning to play this game myself for a while, but I'm sure it'll be fun watching you play. Although pretty bold move to play a game about the deep ocean when you have a fear of water deeper than your height lol.
I see that I missed the beginning of the Subnautica playthrough. This game seems too nerve wracking being under the water to play it myself but I'm enjoying it so far! I love the excessive acid mushroom collection. I would have done thw same 😂
22:13 That'd be the mister boom fish I said to watch out for lol Told you you'd know when you met him 😂 Looking forward to when you meet the reaper or as I dubbed him in my playthroughs on twitch mister t-rex fish 😂
The rubber struggle will forever irritate me, it's happened to so many people and it drives me bonkers, like LOOK AT THE THING WHERE YOU'VE ALREADY CREATED STUFF! It gives you a pretty little picture to show you what you need, why would that NOT exist for rubber, a thing it's telling you to create?? WHY do they only look at what's highlighted in yellow, when they're clearly looking for something they DON'T have the resources for??? Stress. I know I could just click away, but NO, I CAN'T 😂
Nope :') I just couldn't type it in because I was at work haha. I hope we're allowed to say something this week lol (Also if he takes the lead suit's helmet off, he loses the radiation protection, so it's one of those give and take things)
1:26 I both love and feel a bit sad when I see stuff like this on streamers vods. Love it because it's always so interesting and often unique! I once saw a guy who people could pay to have him say random words and then it would take his voice clips to make him "say" messages they wanted him to say. It makes me feel sad because sometimes (like here) I don't really understand the context. I had to step away from the internet for a while and it means I missed a lot that happened on this channel :(
@@mallk238 They're old. (They're only in their 30s) When Stephen started Twitch, he relied on JoshJepson to give him a lot of advice and tell him how Twitch worked, and he made jokes about being like the grandparent, with having to ask the grandkids for help with their phone. That, combined with his long and winding stories, and forgetting the date frequently, etc etc etc. he became Grandpa. And since he's Mal's husband, she became Grandma.
@@seaborgium919 ohhhh that makes sense lol It's been a while since I was here so when I finally tuned back in to stephen stuff, I was surprised to see that they had a twitch stream as they didn't have that back when I watched them religiously
I had no expectations for this game but I enjoyed this stream a lot. I do hope this (alerts playing during gameplay) doesn't become a standard format however - I get that it worked here due to the mostly chill repetitive nature of the game, but I recently watched Masae's Tunic playthrough and rapidly became frustrated at having to fast forward every time she paused to respond to an alert mid-gameplay and got distracted. I know Stephen has Chaz to delay the alerts to a good time, but I'd still rather this format only be used for special cases like this.
This is going to be a very strange let's play for me to watch as my experience with the game, I think, is very different from everyone else's. I barely used anything the game offers and there was no fear. Also I really hope the saving is better on pc because it is atrocious on the ps4
"Unbelievable Anxious And Might Explode Fish"
Foreshadowing the existence of the Crashfish before meeting the Crashfish in-game. Beautiful.

5. adendum Craft Lubricant and NOT the Silicone Rubber that's right next to it at least he finally figures it out thanks to some help (Haley)
Wilson volleyball is an incredible name for a fish.

I started watching the edited down videos, then I remembered this VODs channel exists. So here I am. 😊

this is great for overcoming ingame underwater fears though the sealife is quite different than the kind we know
Of all the games I expected to see Stephen play next, Subnautica was very very close to the bottom. Still, really excited for the series!
Being close to the bottom would be very appropriate for subnautica.
@@nebboxman1533 Down in the Depths
He did a poll a while back which had dark souls and subnautica. Maybe after this he will do Dark souls 😂😂
It took a bit, but Stephen finally learned to break rocks for copper...
Just starting the VOD. This bodes well! 😂 Looking forward to enjoying Stephen's take on the game though
I'm so hyped for this. I saw that first 20 way back when, never thought I'd see you actually play it for real.
Man stephen holding the flashlight and draining its battery for no reason drove me absolutely nuts. Cant wait for the rest of this playthrough
The pool is definitely deeper than 6ft here
Spent at least half of this pleading with the universe for Stephen to actually pin the recipes so he doesn’t constantly forget everything about what he’s trying to do
The fishing alerts were so enjoyable 😂❤
Woo! Subnautica! The game where we build space water cars and fish with a Nintendo 64 controller.
This was so entertaining, please finish this game!

I guess the good news is you're not missing any context! This was the first time anyone had seen the brand-new Fishing alert.

Considering Stephens feelings on the depths this is going to be interesting...
I shouldn't be laughing because Stephen is scared, but I am...
TFW Stephen making LUBE over the rubber....
