saying this with so much love: I'm cracking up at the title, bc it should be "I let an algorithm pick my outfit and then I put on whatever I wanted". But I think you still learned something about your wardrobe AND it's an informative and fun video.
Fun! Would have been cool to see you actually wear what it suggested, tucking oversize things in and styling to make it work even if it is outside your comfort zone.
I totally get when it's 30 degrees you can't be going out wearing trousers but honestly I think part of the point of these videos is to actually wear the outfit suggested for the day and see if you like it at the end/other people's reactions when you're out and about. Here you just straight up wore whatever you wanted for the whole week 😅
Just want to highlight that this app DOESN'T use artificial intelligence. AI is when computers think for themselves, this isn't thinking for itself it's just taking a bunch of inputs and using an algorithm to spit something out, it isn't doing any thinking... Which is probably why it isn't very good!!
@@theautisticacademic5927 it's not machine learning either though is it? I'm not familiar with the app but it didn't look like it adapted and improved it's suggestions based on anything?
I wonder if part of your hesitations to the outfits comes from that drive to shop. If your clothes don’t “work” and it’s too hard and you need more basics and pizazz etc then your really start feeding that need. I loved the idea of this, would of loved to see you try to tuck things in or tie them etc. would genuinely love to see this as a series!
Can someone explain to me what made the white dress and sneakers so “millennial”? I’m only 2 years older than Lucy and thought it was just a bit plain but not bad
whenever i feel stuck i really really force myself to try and play with silhouettes. i tuck in, let out, i only button up one or two buttons or go completely asymmetrical. it doesn’t cure the wardrobe fatigue but sometimes i do find a cool new combo or a new way to wear an old piece. also i actually did like the crochet cardigan over the bike suit! it’s not revolutionary but it’s a cute summer alternative to throwing on oversized longsleeve or jacket
I really like the Whering App, but then I don't try to get it to 'pick' my outfits. I have a small house and clothes are kept in multiple places and I online shop way too much - often buying things that are similar because I forgot I had something. I put together hundreds of outfits myself on the app and just scroll through them to pick something. Also, when I'm going to buy something I have a quick scroll to see if I really need that or if I have something similar that'll do the trick and you almost always do. Of course an algorithm can't decide based on the weather/your mood/the fact that that shirt is actually a dress in your wardrobe/ etc. what you should wear. But I think its a really great tool if you are trying to have a more honest relationship with your closet and if you are trying to curb unhealthy buying habits. Sorry for the long comment I just really don't want people to get turned off the app if they want to use it for different reasons than picking outfits for them - I'd say its more of a digital closet than a personal shopper. Xx
omg yes the long skirt accentuates your belly but in a statuesque, feminine, GORGEOUS way💗 you rock these outfits even though i see why you wouldnt pick all of them
I really enjoyed this, because this is an app I would fully be down for if it had the functionality you discussed at the end; outerwear, seasonal indicators, even a weather report so that it knew the climate of your location each day. As it is, I just feel like it’s more hassle. I’d love to see you try more wardrobe or fashion apps!
i haven't tried a wardrobe app since finery shut down, but i do keep a folder of all the pieces i add to my closet on my desktop! it can be helpful to scroll through and make note of themes like colour and fit that i seem to be drawn to, and also to notice things that are missing from my wardrobe!
I use OpenWardrobe for planning outfits. I haven’t used it for that long so I don’t actually know if it can suggest outfits. I most use it for packing when travelling and planning outfits while on holiday. I love that I can have my full wardrobe and then create capsules for summer, winter, travelling, fancy/party clothes. Its super easy to create outfits and resize the photos for outfit collages.
I like the way you thought a white mini skirt was a bit 'dropping the kids off at school' but not the outfit of a white t shirt and a brown maxi skirt which gave extreme 'my mum c.2000 y2k school run' lol
Definitely think this would have been a more successful video if you had actually tried to use what the app gave you. As it stands, it was just kind of a "what I wear in a week" video...
@@littlereddragon ur right she doesn't. She can choose whatever look she wants. But I have a similar body type with broad shoulders, tiny chest, and big hips. There's nothing wrong with proportion. It's a neutral word
@@littlereddragon OP didn't say she does but creating an hourglass figure, which is in fashion atm, is something that a lot of people like to do regardless. It's not an inherently bad thing to do it or not to do it, but it just gives off a certain aesthetic that lots of women happen to enjoy.
I have this app and I downloaded it to keep track of the clothes I own and to create outfits for myself. I've been taking OOTD photos for my own reference but this is just another tool to track it. There are other apps that do this but not as many available on android.
As someone who has a closet full of tops & bottoms that mostly all match each other, it's fascinating to see so many of the matches made here not work for you hahahha. Love this video concept tho
Just had a scroll through the app and immediately realised it was going to be an absolute nightmare to set up for me. Most of my clothes are second hand, often without any tags or labels, and even the pieces that do have tags weren’t showing up in the database. Lots of my clothes also have bold patterns and prints, so finding an option that just looks sort of similar isn’t really an option. Scrolling through the set up page where it asks which of these basics you own was horrendous for me🤣 I think I maybe clicked on 3 items ? It’s a wonderful idea but definitely not for everyone. I wouldn’t be able to get it set up without devoting a whole day to photographing and adding my items one by one.
Really interesting video! I think the app Owni would also be an interesting one to try - not for algorithm but to see how it helps to rewear items. In general I'd be interested to see a comparison and which app would be worth the time and investment of uploading the whole wardrobe! Owni also has the feature of selling and buying. Generally- reviewing clothing apps video would be GREAT. Could add in things like ByRotation, Hurr etc. But maybe they could be two separate videos with a focus on selling/swapping vs shopping own wardrobe?? Love these vids and please keep them coming!
Maybe my own millennial brain is buffering but how is the cute lil white tulip dress the “mom” outfit, and not the floor length skirt and Birkenstocks?
Lol, this is another example of why AI is never ACTUALLY going to take over the world 😂 No algorithm can actually replace human taste, emotion, & preference
Idk, why do an app when I can take an evening to listen to music and make up new outfits? Take pictures and put them in calendar or temp labeled outfits. Pretty simple 😅 *edit: also to see which items you're wearing, you can have a system where items worn go in one area and items not worn go in another etc. :)
Second that, but to be fair it fully skips some items of my wardrobe in all outfits. I like the customize outfit feature as well though! That and the weather feature that takes temperature into consideration since I live in the high desert where the temp fluctuates excessively.
I love how so many people are suggesting that Lucy had worn exactly what the app chose for her when half of the time it suggested 2 pairs of shoes or clothes that were not at all weather appropriate. I think it's much more realistic to use it as inspiration as Lucy did and not as strict rules, but idk haha
was categorizing second-hand items more difficult compared to ones who were on ecom websites? i'd expect the app to pull data from retail websites if an item is from a brand thats on sale compared to a second hand item that maybe doesn't even have a label so i wonder if there was any difference. also this seems very time consuming but could be useful if you don't have much closet space and need to put away a lot of your clothes, we all know that if you don't see it you don't wear it so maybe having all your clothes "out" on an app could give more wear to some pieces!
Yes it was much harder! I ended up searching for terms like “yellow golf shirt” in Google images and picking the photo that resembled the item the most 🥲

In most cases she said that it was because of the weather. I totally get not wanting to wear long leather pants or jeans in 34°C weather in a country with little to no air conditioning. I would have loved to see her trying them on at home though.

I have been using Whering for at least a year now, and it's one of my favourite apps!
