- I present to you one of the most controversial One Piece Theories. Luffy won't see the same truth that Roger saw, instead, he'll take it as a lie. He'll do anything but Laugh on Laughtale.
Although I don't know exactly how Oda will present this prophecy, I have trust in how Oda will execute Luffy's reaction on Laugh Tale in line with the themes of Freedom and Destiny.

this is the closest theory that seems true. only thing is we dont know if luffy will reach laugh tail before or after defeating the world government.
I think it’s safe to say they need to reach laughtale in order to learn the true history BEFORE the siege of Mary Geois. It wouldn’t make sense for the straw hats to beat the main villains before we find out about the real history. I think it’s pretty much guaranteed that Blackbeard is the next major antagonist In The upcoming elbaph arc. While I love the idea of the final showdown being a 3 way battle between luffy, Blackbeard, and imu; it would litteraly be too much back story. Luffy beats Blackbeard first, makes it to laughtale and then he invades the final war at the same time that Law and Kid show up.

The 3 could fight against each other for the supremacy of the sea and the winner would be the one to face Imu.
@@S3rp3nte no shot of that happening. Remeber Akainu is fleet admiral now and the revolutionary army have declared war. The war is in a Cold War currently but battles will start breaking out one by one until it eventually engulfs the entire world. It’s the perfect cover to let luffy adventure freely until he decides to crash the war. Rather than a fight For Laughtale, it’s more likely to be a war over the last road poneglyph with Blackbeard.
Refer to the sbs's. The order of the arcs have already been laid out so generally we have an idea of what will happen and that is the final war, laugh tale, then one piece.

Another reason why i don't think Luffy won't laugh is because all this time he is being guided by the Mystery of the Adventure.
Him finding out that he was destined to reach Laugh Tale and claim the One Piece will annoy him.
Luffy wants to be Free. So feeling his entire journey was already preset by someone 800 years Ago will anger Luffy.
He will also be angry at the realization the World is a Huge Cage. As the Free-est Man in the World he will want to bring down this cage.
he was not destined it was not his destiny to become joyboy and awaken the fruit he just so happened to meet the criteria of the prophecy with who he is as a person and his values of freedom. he isnt a reincarnation of joyboy or anything like that. he is luffy. on the surface it looks like a run of the mill prophecy story but theres a nuance to it. search the video how to master a prophecy protagonist its explained there

That kinda checks out with one of ussops lies he told to Kaya, I think it had something to do with him landing on what he thought was an island but it was just a dump that’s some giant goldfish took
Cricket, Descendant of Nolan the Liar, said it best; "that dream is over, it is confirmed reality now" same as the "we are" song - "the legendary place that the end of the map reveals is only legendary til someone proves it real" - once everyone knows it - it's like the idiom "you either die a hero or live long enough to be despised" - like the world government.
This works well with my theory which is Luffy doesn't care about the One Piece treasure itself, he just cares about finding it so he can earn the title "King of the Pirates" (whatever happens to the treasure afterwards is none of his concern) so i think the idea of him hating the treasure would be icing on the cake.
Also it solves a longstanding problem i've been thinking about the One Piece, which is that the One Piece treasure should suck, because if it were amazing then future readers could just google "what is the One Piece" then say "okay cool i just saved myself 2,000+ chapters" but if it sucks (and maybe even pisses off Luffy) then future readers would read for the actual story.
After all, One Piece has always been a "It's about the journey, not the destination." type story.
It's why Luffy didn't want the treasure spoiled for him by Rayleigh.

You're right that could be very interesting. Especially since Luffy and the rest of the crew (besides nami) are not materialistic at all. They've never really cared for all the treasures they find themselves, but rather they enjoy the journey to get it like you said.

There's a final test that only Luffy can pass and only because he doesn't desire wealth, fame, or power. His simple-mindedness will be the final key to the treasure.
What if luffy is mad that it was destiny but a destiny he agrees with because he hates what had happened in the void century causing the war on imu . For instance luffy fights to reach laughtale with Blackbeard and others etc. finds laugh tale find out and is mad at the government, for ace for sabo, for garp, for Koby, and then he starts a war himself instead.
Maybe the one piece the piece of information luffy needed to know the true ending with gaining freedom for everyone in the world and bringing everyone together again under one country luffy country joy boys country

I came to a conclusion of my own, Luffy is a parallel to roger, roger is a parallel to joyboy, joyboy is a parallel to nika but this time, Luffy is THE EXCEPTION!, he wont be defeated or do nothing like roger. he will bring freedom to the world. That's my conclusion

Free will is not a thing in reality. All our choices are influenced by our wants. What we want is something we cannot decide.

One that refers to the ability to make choices free and one that is libertarian free will, that refers to a will that is, in the core , untouched by any outside influence. In actually our will is either random, determined or a combination of both... So the evidence indicates that libertarian free will is impossible.

There is two outcomes for the end of one piece:
Luffy defeats the world government and finds the one piece. Then he does the prophesied action.
Luffy finds the one piece, then defeats the world government with his prophesied action.
If he doesn't laugh when he sees the one piece, then he will do said prophesied action in his anger.

So this is based off the fan translations that's stating they learned the truth and all laughed etc. no where in the chapter is this stated as a question. It was obvious Joyboy was telling a story about his time as a pirate and all the crazy adventures he went on but this also entails all the truths he found too etc. why is this such a hard concept to grasp that they laughed because joyboy told his story for that purpose

I really like this Theory, and there's a chance it might actually happen. At this point, we already know that the Roger Pirates laughed when they saw the One Piece. We kind of expect the same thing to happen for the Strawhats. Here's the thing tho, Oda's been notorious for subverting expectations time and time again. It wouldn't be completely crazy if he did that for when Luffy finds the treasure. Think about it. When the Strawhats reach Laughtale, they see the treasure, and they all burst out into laughter... Right? Nope... Oda subverts your expectation once again and breaks the entire fandom ONCE AGAIN when we see Luffy in Maddening Anger when he sees the One Piece... How fucking awesome would that be... Just when you expect outcome A, Oda serves you Outcome Z.

What if both sides are right that though each other wrong , luffy is a pirate who defies your typical stereotype one but since the world doesn't know his personality and hisa achievenements he will always be seen as an evil guy and the government as the justice force of good , good and bad depends on one's perspective after all , what if joyboy was the same, desiring freedom wherever he wanted and to those he made friends but those who wished justice and control thought of him a threath and deciding to band togehter to finish him off since someone who seeks freedom is obviously a danger to someone who seeks control and order.
Control and Order can't exist with freedom since freedom is the complete opposite, and a corrupt organization that enables prosecution , slavery, and deaths for the sake of peace and world order for the sake of power would go completely opposite to joyboy and luffy's way ,
