Tillett B5 Racing Seat | Lowest Seating Position for Tall Drivers | (Season 7 Episode 21)

- I got the Tillett B5 Seat with Bride FG LowMax Rails for my RX-7. This is my go-to combo after it worked out well in my 350z with the Tillett B6 and Bride FG LowMax Rails. The benefit of the B5 is its more friendly for street cars as it does not have the huge side bolstering around the legs so it is easier to get in and out of and can be used with a factory 3 point seat belt. The other seats require a proper 4-6 point harness.

Hey mate, thanks for the video! I'm just wondering why you chose to go for the Bride seat runners instead of the Tillet runners? Also, were there any issues with mounting the seat to the runners? Are the holes the same size and in the same position to make the runners universally compatible with different brands of seats?
I wasn’t aware if Tillet made mounts/sliders for a FD RX-7. I always ran the Bride Low Max ones in my other cars and they sat super low so I went with them on this car too.
@@Riskspeed Ah okay, thanks!
@@Riskspeed how would you rate those runners? I'm currently designing a car and need runners that can angle upwards so that shorter drivers can be elevated in the forward seating position. However I want to pick runners that are easy to adjust but are secure enough to support the weight of the driver
I don't think the Tillet runners are secure enough, as the brochure recommends not using them in race cars
@@oliverwan1520 I highly recommend as that’s all I choose to run in my cars. They are the lowest seating high quality sliding mounts I know of. Other brands either don’t slide, the metal bends under heavy G-forces, or doesn’t sit low enough. Also there are 3 adjustability holes on the mounts, so yes you can tilt the seat back by raising the front a little bit. That’s actually how I have mine set up as well.
I didn’t hear it mentioned in the video, but how tall are you? And you don’t have padding on the lower part of the seat, doesn’t that make you slide around in the seat? And why is the upper part padded while the lower part is not?
I am 6'0", but it really depends if you have long legs or long torso. Only longer torso effects head room issues, legs don't. I didn't put padding on the bottom so I can keep that extra 1/4 inch of extra head room. I do not slide around much, the lip on the edges hold me in pretty well.
How much head room over stock did you gain?
A solid 3.5 inches of headroom
