I finally made the jump and joined the PRO tier as an experiment. I hope there are tons more of such videos because I don't understand all the tools and how to properly use them.
We’re on it. We intend to release a new video every week. In the meantime feel free to shoot us an email with any question you might have. We’re happy to assist.
The LUT that the tool creates is unaffected by the underlaying image quality. If it looks correct with an 8-bit image it will look even better with a 12 or 10 bit footage. You can use an EXR file in fylm.ai if you wish so (instead of an 8-bit format) for full 16 bit pipeline. As a matter of fact when using EXR files the pipeline in fylm.ai will be 32 bit. The idea of fylm.ai is that you do not need to use it to create a grade for every shot that you have, but rather, quickly and easily establish your show look/LUT or several show looks/LUTs for different parts of your video.
Grain is available in fylm.ai and is called Texture. Halation is not available yet but will be coming later. Please note, grain (and halation when it becomes available) cannot be contained in a LUT so if exporting a LUT, these tools will simply be omitted from the LUT that you create. They of course, can be saved in a graded image.
I'm not clear on the entire workflow. Does this process actually apply color grades to your footage that is rendered locally, or does it create a LUT that is imported into a NLE?
Hi Dave, fylm.ai creates a LUT for you that you can then use in any software that supports the use of .cube LUTs. You can also use that LUT in-camera for monitoring if your camera or monitor supports that. Additionally you can export enhanced XMP profile of the look for Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw. You can also export the look as VLT LUT for Panasonic cameras or as IPP2 tailored LUT for RED cameras.
Is this a beginner software because am confused and can't understand how it works! I was looking for an AI that does the color automatically for me! Is that it?!!!
fylm.ai is an advanced LUT creator in the cloud and you then use the created LUT to grade your footage in whichever software you want. When creating the LUT you can utilize AI for three main functionalities: AI color extract - copy color from 3rd party image, AI color match - matches between two images and AI auto correct. This video however, covers a tool in fylm.ai called Magic Mode which is a semi-automated way of creating a color grade by simply selecting the best option in each of the 12 steps presented.
Thanks for the feedback. Can I kindly ask where in the world are you located at? We would be happy to troubleshoot this for you with our support. As a rule of thumb, the app first loads the resources remotely but once they are loaded they are stored and accessed from local storage (unless you are using the app in Incognito mode).
@@fylmai Im in VN. Watched review about your app on YT, i think it really cool and will be helpful to color correction multiple event photos. However, your UI not easy to follow, too many small buttons. Im using normal browser mode, and it is hard to use second step on magic mode, it cant load my photo and your preview ( in jpeg file ). If i import my raw file, it cant load the first step. Hope u can improve your UI ( maybe easy to use like remini web ).

I do not understand this tool. So you have to upload a JPEG 8bit to use as ref to color grad a 12bit or 10bit RAW video ? seems not usable

Can you apply film grain and halation in fylm ai? Are both possible?

I think your app too slow to load, you should have an offline version
