      you be surprised, i was checking some of the other channels and if you look at the comments there always a small diehard group of console promoters, you cannot reason with them, they go on about Discs CDs DVDs Performance and on and on, its a waste of time arguing with them, they are hopeless. They rather pay 500 for a console and you have no games with it, u cant add a bunch of free games, they are broke and they are OK with it. Make it make sense? LOL

My RAM runs at 3600mhz but i do remeber having issues getting it to clock at that speed in the bios (don't ask me how i did it in the end, i can't remember). Im using a mini itx ROG B450 motherboard.
    I've considered upgrading to a 5800x but i dont think its worth it for my use case. Also didn't think upgrading to the new platforms for a whole chunk of change would net me significant gains for work.

    I recommend using Crucial's memory with up until Zen+/2000 series, or at least Samsung B-dies, but in most of memory 3200 should work no problem for Zen2.
    Crucial memory or Corsair Vengence is what I would recommend around 3600.
    they work good with older Ryzen, and I had some trouble with patriot's memory too. not sure which chip it was using but I had issues, switched to Corsair 2666 and OC'd just set it to 3600 and it just worked.

    Everything I have heard is do not buy a KF if you want to use an editing software that supports quicksync. Even with a discrete card, the addition of the quicksync from the IGP is worthwhile. Honestly - I am of the opinion just do not buy a KF unless it's a strong discount. I will gladly pay the $20-30 to get the quicksync support and extra troubleshooting feature. Even for streaming, being able to use the quicksync encoder to take all of the load off both the CPU and the GPU can help.

I can get a tray 3600 or a 5500 for around a $150 dollars new but a Second hand 3600 between $100-120. The 3700X are selling around $150 so a better deal, but for gaming isn't any proof 8 cores are better then 6. I ended up buying a 3100 for $50 before posted, that was really a 4100 that still as not been posted, I was email by the seller that said it was a 4100. • @J_..._
    @J_..._ 10 місяців тому +1

    I've worked on 2 systems where the memory speeds/stability degraded over time and both times cleaning the dimm slots and ddr4 contacts with alcohol and a toothbrush (gently) would allow me to push the memory speeds higher. These PCs were used by or around people that smoke, though I suspect this could still happen just given a long enough period of time. This could potentially show up more for those who push their ram to the raggedy edge of stability. Anyway, if your system used to be stable (assuming you didn't use crazy voltages) and now it's not, maybe try giving the slots/dimms a clean. Obviously don't do this while plugged in to power and be sure everything is dry before powering the PC back on.

    I've got a 3700X in my system and, if you're going to buy used because you're on an extreme budget, I would say get it. But the Ryzen 5 CPUs have a 30% uplift in gaming. My buddy with a marginally worse video card (6600XT versus my 1080 ti) but with a 5600 consistently gets better frame rates than me in all the games we play. The 3700X is marginally faster in multi-threaded, production-oriented workloads, but neither of us do that. If you have an AM4 motherboard and wanted an upgrade for your gaming PC, and you had more money to spend, I would just get a 5600 or 5600X and call it a day. Personally, I'm planning on eventually getting a 5800X3D and leaving my system alone for a few more years.

    I love how the RAM issue is being blamed solely on the CPU, not on the RAM manufacturers swapping out the chips for whatever is cheapest at the time while keeping the same name/model of the kit. It's why Corsair kits have had a version number on the sticker for 15+ years. if it's different to a stick/kit you already have, chances are they switched suppliers of the memory chips underneath those (entirely unnecessary) heatspreaders, say from Samsung to Hynix or Micron or whatever else, or worse binnings of the same ones. It's also part of the reason why you sometimes get a seemingly 100% identical kit but the subtimings are slightly different (16-19-19-36 vs. 16-20-20-38 for example)

Running on a Tomahawk b450, G.Skill FlareX 3200 CL14 memory, and RTX 3080 10gb. I picked up the 3080 when the prices dropped down to $850 new. Using a 1440p ultrawide monitor so resolutions are between 1440p -> 4K. Can get 75-95 FPS on various titles running many settings at ultra and a few dropped down to high. Here recently been playing Darktide, Robocop, Red Dead Redemption, and Baldur's Gate 3. Mostly I just click the in game recommended settings button and then enable DLSS. Recently I updated my BIOS and didn't realize that XMP got disabled by the update. I played some games and thought my CPU was dying because everything was a bit choppy as CPU load increased. Realized something wasn't right when I saw the cache latency on CPUID was running at CL16. Checked the BIOS and corrected the XMP issue and everything went to buttery smooth. So, the FlareX memory running at the tight CL14 timings smooths gameplay quite a bit.

It took going up to Zen 3 to get those kinds of speeds. I don't think it's the IMC, but rather than Infinity Fabric speeds that hold it back.
