I'm trying to break the beed on my 07 Ford Escape. I tried driving up on it with a 4×4 and I put 6 bags of concrete I had laying around and still nothing.
@@markchapman2585 I used my grandpa's 1 yard long crow bar with a blunt tip and put it close to the bead about 1in away and put my body weight onto the croebar, I did that a couple times then the bead finally gave away. It had a little air still in it and I think that may have helped but idk.
@@flockmotorsport6634 hey so I found some wheels still on the rim so if I use my truck to break the bead it won’t damage the rubber? I want the wheels on my truck don’t want the rims
I use a ratchet strap to secure the tire onto the rim before adding air. It has worked every time, but sometimes it works right away and other times I have to fight it for a bit.

Yeah dude that’s exactly what I was thinking I fucking hate that. This fucking dumbass really just dropped the deflated tire/wheel on it’s face which as you know if the tire is deflated the wheel face gonna smack the ground. Then he proceeds to put the weight of his entire big fat ass on top of it while it’s face down on the rough concrete and starts prying on the tire shifting and moving the whole time. Some people amaze me, these are the people that would want retail price for these rims after doing shit like this to them

Can I beat the bead with a baseball bat? Or will I need something more harder like a mallet?
@@haider7866 Neither will work on any bead I can imagine. I use the Jack + straps + wood block method on UA-cam.

I put the weight of my van on one spot like you did and still didn't break the bead
it can be pretty tricky to do. levering the edges of the tire with the tools I had helped me alot

Trying to do this right now with 15-in rims broke the bead on one side but the other side won't break, pain in the donkey!!
Sure is a pain! Once I got the first one the rest were a little easier. Remember to put soapy water around the edge of the wheel to make it easier

Will this hurt the tire? I want to take my rims off to fix some curb rash but want to put the same tire back on
I think the curb rash would be the worst of the damage on the tire

@@hotpackjay yeah the rubber should be ok as long as you use something like a wooden plank to break the bead and not something metal
The tire no the tire will be fine. It’s just a rim that you want to worry about doing that method.
What's the blue liqui you poured on the tire?
Its dish soap I used to lubricate the edge of the tire to make it easier

How do you put one on without a machine?
You have to put the tire back on and then use a rush of air like a bead setting gun or some flammable gas inside to set it
