Can we please give up to the band....the band.. the band. Nuthin like tight playin, everybody swinging, we all got the musical chops playin band. Lastly Rachael Price..ooweee. I was 1 week shy of seeing her at the Kennedy Center's Live From Here with Chris Thile, when Covid19 hit and shut everything down in D.C. Her voice has such personality and colors. Almost feel like her voice is winking at us saying "I got this." and it so does , it really does. She is the grand dame and full arbiter of her instrument. Throwing my virtual shoe at this performance. Loved it!!!
Rick Malchow oh, defiantly. I actually like a lot of modern music, but for an old head it may be a bit harder to find music they enjoy, but it’s still out there
This music is beautiful, Problem is the radio won't play it! They are all with the exception of a few controlled by corporate money. I's a dictatorship dictated by the money.
@@JefferyMillerMusic LOL thank you! I'm stoked that the internet brought your music to my ears, as well as bringing my praise for it to your attention. That's super cool. Keep it groovy, my friend!
It's because she is classy. If she had her ass hanging out like a Kardashian she would be a household name. Sign of the times. Damn shame. But at least us more civilized folks can appreciate her talent.
DAAAANNGGGGG!!!! 😲🤯👏👏👏 I almost never watch past the monologue, never ever watch the musical performances. Accidentally didn’t skip to something different right away, and after only a few words, I was completely hooked and absolutely blown away! I’m adding their album to my playlist right now! 💙🎶🎷🙇♀️💙
i know Im asking randomly but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the account password. I would love any tips you can offer me!
@Holden Winston I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
It's Thanksgiving 2020. This year, Rachel Price and Lake Street Dive have joined me (at least their music has). I have been listening all week to this wonderful woman and watching her videos. This is my latest discovery and I will keep my eye out for her for sure.
This album will go down as a classic, even with everything Rachael's done with Lake Street Dive. Vilray's writing is that good, and of course Rachael just kills it.
Woah...I was like hey that's homegirl (Rachel Price) from Lakestreet Dive...then goes to then I saw the trumpet (Jon Lampley), and I was like hey he's from the Huntertones, and I just saw him play at a festival in March with O.A.R. then camera pans to the piano and I'm like is that Grammy Award winning Jon Batiste?! Start-studded band! Aweome!
Vilray wrote almost all the songs on that record, and they feel like the real deal, with a few sly lyric nods to the 21st century. He's a treasure and a triple threat of a musician. Rachel is obviously great; Vilray's talents take bit more effort to appreciate, especially in this context.
Just awesome! I love listening to these two. My father loved The Hot Club of France with Stefan Grapelli and Django Rheinhard so I grew up with this sort of jazz. Vilray has the style down pat with his own seasoning added, and Rachel is just a phenomenal singer. I think there are only two bands right now that can do this. Just pick up a piece with minimal rehearsal and play from the sheet music with such passion. They are this band, and Chris Thile's band on Live From Here. I've watched Rachel & Vilray play with both and both results are fantastic. Thank you Stephen and Co for having them on, and thank you Jon for being such a great band leader.
WOW, WHAT A SHOW!! We have watched every episode of LNSC. We nighly try to hear more Stay Human (during commercials) and always strive to hear every note from every guest, but it has been a L O N G time between hearing any actual MUSIC! Not only do these folks make music, but it was MUSIC THAT BLEW ME AWAY!
J. D. Schultz, Sr. Here’s a link to that performance: ua-cam.com/video/fy3-hsiXzQk/v-deo.html *Totally* different music, style, etc., but I loved this for how her complete love of music/singing/performing came through.
I’m here after seeing them on the Jools Holland Hottananny NYE celebration on bbc in the U.K. I love these two. Racheal Price reminds me of the late Amy Winehouse. Just pure beautiful jazz ❤️. Wishing Racheal a safe delivery of her child.
Oh girl I’m so impressed with your vocals!!!! Great job on transitioning jazz and classical training into the popular stage. What a delightful band....and the jacket on that man. 6 out of 5 stars for this whole operation.
She is amazing! She also sings in spanish and she just sends chills all over your body! Look up Rachael Price (Lagrimas negras) it's a cuban classic. you will not be disappointed.
I don’t know the musical terms for it, but this music reminds me of my parents’ old lps, with swing bands, and lyrics with internal rhyme. Lovely voice.
Intro by Mr. Colbert himself and outro to the one and only, Galaxy News Radio, coming to you live from the studio in the Downtown DC ruins. Feeling Fallout 3 vibes again.
Rachel's wonderful and so is vilray ... so glad you had them on, #Steven .... and #JohnBaptiste -- tasty .... Rachel has that awesome NOLA twang ... i love her voice .... and Stayin' Human ... love ...

Those brass players are smooth as hell. Respect. They PLAYING.
This whole track is tha bomb
Thank ya. We had a lot of fun. :)
two brass (muted trumpet and trombone) and two woodwinds (clarinet and tenor saxophone)
We should bring this kinda music back for the 20’s
AmplifiedSilence I personally think there’s always good music, sometime you just gotta look a bit harder
@@johnpangarakis396 - If anything, that's understated. If you're willing to look there is more good music than you got time to listen to!

That bass player tho...she's having a great time and playing like a boss
Clearly having a great time playing great bass
Her singing is soooo clean! Crazy good technique and pitch. Shout out to the big dude on the trombone... that was some good trombonin'.
Trombone solo was tight and swingin'. Great to see that kind of playing on national television.
Hahaha thanks Aaron.

Real music played by real good musicians.
I love Rachael Price. The fact that she is not yet a household name is one of the biggest mysteries in the world to me.
@AmplifiedSilence Soulful music is timeless, brotha.
She is at our house!
I think the same thing
She is in my house.
It's because she is classy. If she had her ass hanging out like a Kardashian she would be a household name. Sign of the times. Damn shame. But at least us more civilized folks can appreciate her talent.
It's her RHYTHM that blows me away. There's nothing about her that isn't over-the-top amazing, but her swing is unstoppable

I've always loved Rachael Price's voice.
What a voice! Check out Lake Street Dive!
I thought I recognized that dancing style!
What a voice. Best I've heard in years. Band is cooking too
I adore Rachel Price. Her song styling is just so smooth!! Love you, Rachel and LSD of course.
I thought this was a comedic duo, but then I started listening, damn she can sing. That was some beautiful classic jazz
A whole lot of fun! Lets bring this music back for this troubled world.

That stand up bass mama is really grooving it.
One of the best records of the year. Real (actual) talented musicians & singer!
Vilray wrote almost all the songs on that record, and they feel like the real deal, with a few sly lyric nods to the 21st century. He's a treasure and a triple threat of a musician. Rachel is obviously great; Vilray's talents take bit more effort to appreciate, especially in this context.

Like butter…
Just Ask is a great one by her!
Swing is alive and well! Thank you Rachael and Vilray!
This music is off the charts, love it.

If you have little or no knowledge of 1930s and 1940s music, I do not think you are equipped to understand just how fantastic they are.
This is phenomenal!! A sound that's a major blast from the past. Make Jazz Great Again!
truly, the voice of an angel.
I switched TV channel to see this.. 0.5 seconds later I looked for it here to share.❤
omg you guys are fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The real kicker for this fabulous song and arrangement is that she sings it with a Brooklyn accent ! I can't wait to see these two again !
Just Fabulous!
Is anyone gonna talk about how hard Vilray rocks that paisley shirt?!
Went crazzi when I saw this. Love it. The whole package. Voice and band. WOW
I just adore rachael's voice..so fantastic..
This combination of musicians ought to put out an album together. Wonderful

They've been on before, actually
Just beautiful

So superb this is. Oh man.
Love it! Funny, joyful song. These two give a very warm and personable performance together.
Superb!
Goddam Rachael Price. We'd be idiots to NOT love this.
What a find! This makes my day! No, my week 😆
I love this group.
This is so refreshing after all that over processed garbage.
Wish Vilray had sang mans got crazy pipes
That's a gorgeous Epiphone Deluxe Vilray is playing
Fabulous!
Really good song, and awesome performance 👍
I feel like one of the "in crowd;" I discovered her on New Year's Eve.
Her voice is sassy with class & she blends beautifully with the talented musicians ~ love it!
enjoying the music...then caught the lyrics...genius

I love that Stephen obsessed with Vilray in 2019 when he interviewed John Oliver and the next year Vilray perform at his show
Wow, her voice... :O

Stephen has mentioned previously how much he likes the Rachael Price and Vilray collaboration. No wonder he had them on.
That is the coolest trombone player I have ever seen.
