Wow, I just found this video by coincidence and I enjoyed it!! I was born and raised in the states, but my parents were born in the Philippines and I've also been studying/speaking Spanish for nine years throughout high school and college. I can converse in English, Spanish and Tagalog. La verdad cuando los vi al principio pensé que los dos eran filipinos y hay varios hispanos de México, Perú, Ecuador, etc que parecen filipinos y viceversa. ¡Un saludo desde Las Vegas Nevada!

The lady looks like a Filipina. Had I worked overseas when I was still single, most likely I would end up marrying a foreigner. I like South American women. They are more like Filipinas in attitude. They are sweet especially Mexicans. Even at this stage of my married life, still overseas na malayo sa loving wife ko, I always meet sweet ladies na wife material talaga. So control lang. I love my family back home and I don't want to leave behind bastards and broken hearts.

Your Husband is a local from Luzon i suppose (north region of Philippines) and his 1st language is probably Tagalog which is the Philippines' Lingua franca and it only consists of 4000-6000 spanish loan words, whereas the locals from Visayas(mid region of Philippines) and Mindanao(South region of Philippines) the local dialects there have 10000-120000 spanish loan words, that's why your husband didn't get the ones like "cera la puerta" they dont use that in tagalog, but from us locals of visayas and mindanao, we use 'cera' as close and 'puerta' as door. hahahaha

I almost do not speak Spanish and learned Spanish as required in our college curriculum in the Philippines. Most of the words Kiara said i can understand since they sound very similar to Filipino and the other dialects in the Philippines. Cierra la puerta means "close the door." More than 60% of Filipinos will understand that. In the Visayas we say "sarado ang puwertahan". Filipino is a mixture of Spanish and Malay/ Indonesian and some English borrowed words.

To bring back Spanish language as spoken ones in the country and as official language alongside English, the Article XIV, Section 6 of the 1987 constitution or the language policy, has to be amended by removing unfair designation of Tagalog as the basis of national language at the expense of others like Cebuano or Ilocano, make English and Spanish languages as official languages be used in government administration and public education purposes, and let regions to control their language policies, thus preserving regional languages.
After amending the language policy provision, to really revive Spanish, the Philippine government should reach agreements with Spanish and Latin American governments in sending Hispanophone professionals especially teachers to the Philippines to teach Spanish to Filipinos from all walks of life in public or private educational institutions and in exchange to that, the Philippines should send professionals to work in Latin America and Spain, so that if they return to the country, they can further teach Spanish to the people.
In order for Spanish language not be limited its usage in schools, Spanish and Latin American professionals should infiltrate entertainment and journalism industries, so that the spread of Spanish language would be continuous and become mainstream especially among masses through proliferation of Spanish TV and radio broadcasts, periodicals, tabloids, movies, and internet websites because through this, people would start to speak Spanish in daily basis and have their children be trained as native Spanish speakers.
If my recommendations were to be followed by the government, the Philippines would become 100% Spanish-speaking country like Mexico in 50 years after implementation.
