Correct me if I'm wrong but they did expand the ice to IIHF regulation size for the tournament. They do it for the WJC, most notably at HSBC arena in Buffalo where the Sabres play. It doesn't take much for them to expand the playing area in those arenas.

I'm from Canada and after watching that game twice I can officially say that USA played a better game than Canada. Throughout the entire game the puck was mostly in the hands of the U.S players or in the Canadian zone. The reason they lost was because they made a couple of bad turnovers (especially the Toews goal) and Canada was beyond desperate to win, they literally could NOT lose. Also if USA's defense was as good as Canada's they could have won, I'm officially afraid of the 2014 US team...

That would be like the Canadian national team playing together in the NHL and touring around against other national teams in the offseason. If they did that they would win 95% of the olympic golds that have been awarded

Considering in the those 60 years we've sent a team of professional players a total of 4 times... winning gold 2 of those times i might add, while countries like Russia, Czechoslovakia, Sweden, Finland all sent professional players that they called "amateurs" to every single Olympic games. If Canada had sent NHLers to every winter olympics there would be a hell of a lot more gold in the Hockey Canada trophy case thats for sure.
