- Our skipper Boris Herrmann has had a difficult night. Starting yesterday evening, he was confronted with the beginning of a series of issues onboard Malizia - Seaexplorer. Although still racing in 5th place, he had to regularly slow down over the past 15 hours of the Retour à La Base solo race to fix engine issues and repair cockpit drains. So sorry to hear you are having problems but better to find these gremlins now before the VendeeGlobe next year. You are still holding a strong sixth place with Nico not so far ahead. He should beware of a frustrated Malizia skipper behind him. Go Boris! 💪👍

Cheer up, Boris. There are worse things than Sicaflex that you can get on your hands, i.e. what's in the head, etc. Hopefully the engine trouble is minor. You and your team are amazing!!!

What a trouble. I wish you that the problems will be fixed, that you are dry again and that you can get sleep.
I was wondering about the speed at the tracker. The boat was a bit slower the last hours. But I as a newbie thougt this cannot mean problems because the boat is still fast. Respect that you can still be fast despite the problems.

Aaagh! It’s so frustrating when a small thing failing has such a big impact on performance simply by taking attention away from boatspeed to deal with it. Getting covered with Sika and soaked through is just the icing on the cake.
Or….that sucker stopping sucking sucks.
Chin up, Boris. 5th position still and miles to go to the finish, you’ve got the speed to make it up the field and time to do it.
Hope the engine snag is an easy fix.

Lenzventil Probleme sind ärgerlich und blöd wenn sie bei einer Regatta auftreten. Versuch vielleicht wenn du Geschwindigkeit hast einen GummiSchlauch mit am Ende eine getapte dreieckige Klappe nach dem Prinzip des Lenzventils hat durchzustecken. Kopf hoch du machst einen großartigen Job. Bald hast du das erste Gate bei den Azoren passiert. Heute Nacht soll etwas weniger Wind kommen vielleicht hilft es dir etwas zu schlafen. Alles gute und morgen geht’s Push Push Richtung Ziellinie. 😀

One issue at a time. Most chronic one first. Prioritize first (easy, quick fix, necessary parts and tools, Mc Giver skills). Flood control, breather, then on to the engine. Darn gremlins, they show up when you least expect them. Always testing our patience and determination. Not pretty but effective.

Sieht ein bisschen aus als ob du dir die ganze Tube Sikaflex erst auf die Hände geschmiert und dann mit beiden Händen auf und neben dem Abfluss, der Wand usw. verteilt hast 😂
Wenns dicht ist, ists kein Pfusch sagen wir im Rohrleitungsbau ;)

OMG bei dem Gehoppel mit Sika arbeiten... "Looking like an idiot"? Nein, eher, wie einer, dem da nichts anders übrig blieb und nun klebrige Hände hat. Hoffentlich ist was an Bord, mit dem man das wieder abbekommt. Immerhin schaut es auf dem Tracker nicht so übel aus. Go for it!
Are the engines too complicated? Get two honda 5 hp air cooled motors and you won't have any problems.
Say no to free engines from sponsors lol
