Ford Focus Rear Trailing Arm Replacement
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- In this video i show how to replace a rear trailing arm on a ford focus. i also replace the rear lateral link , the rear lower control arm , and rear upper control arm of a ford focus. In this video i show how to take out the bolts that rust and freeze up in the bushing sleeves. You can cut the bolts out or hammer them out using a torch, but you would need to replace the rest of the components when doing so.

That is more work than I expected. I did my own front arms and those were easier to replace. Kudos.
yes these can be a pain
That's a big job for a little car! Nice intro burnout in the Klownmaro!!
yeah it was..very frustrating that all the bolts were frozen..
I guess I'm pretty off topic but do anyone know a good website to watch new series online ?

Finally a car I know about 😂, great job Klowny hope there's more videos to come. Stay safe in these troubled times.
Thanks man..you too!
For the moment there I thought I was watching Scotty Kilmer when he did that burnout.
im better looking ;-)
Well considering I had to replace the rear subframe all the bolts are already been out so this should be a breeze for me. May as well do the rear brakes while I’m at it.
Thanks for the video!
Awesome..good luck and don't forget to subscribe
@@klowny1969 already done my friend!
@@klowny1969 Did you torque any of these bolts? If so what bolts did u torque and how many foot pounds ?
Wow, that focus is still running? Amazing
Yesir
Nice video just so you know I've been having a fine and dandi time for the last 2 days lol 😆 I know what you mean about the bolts I've nearly completed taking the passenger side off and then to do the drivers side but yea only doing it as its the st170 and the rear suspension is only thing wrong with it but yea nice to see I'm not only one to encounter this lol thanks for the video yuup

@@klowny1969already have. I have to replace the whole rear suspension on my mom's Focus I to go and order all new bolts $266.48 from a dealer ship no auto part store carries them
The manual says the torque for the rear hub nut is 173 foot pounds. It should still spin without much effort (brake drag consider). But if the hub tightens up, the bearing could be bad. If the nut is not tight enough the bearing can burn out.
How do u know theyres a problem with this. What does the car do? Does it swerve to 1 side or something else thanks
Clunking in the back..but you really need to check it yourself
You don’t have your take off the abs sensor. It fits through the oval hole easily.
keep up the good vids man. what year is this car. crazy the car have some complicated rear suspension and still have drum brakes in the rear...Ps:Can you make brake master cylinder rebuild video?
Great job 👍

Brilliant simply superb K69 , ( thank you from near London UK. PS " More ! butter sauce " :-)
Thank you sir!!
My driver side rear trailing arm is bent AF. Idk what happened. Lol. I bashed TF out of it with a big ass hammer and at least bent it back enough so the tire clears it for now. Imma try and pull the one out of my donor car but I'm probably gonna have to buy a new one :/

Just bashed tf outta mine spinning out on a mountain road. Mine is crumbled in towards the front of the car. The wheel doesn’t make contact but man I just put an alternator in it this morning lol.
All my bolts were rusted solid. Had to cut most if them off.

I have a Focus TDDI SW from 2002. It just made 200.000 km. This will be my next job. Since I listen to all kind of noises when it gets more bumpier. Do you think I'll have to change all bushings.
I would prepare for it yes, especially if you live in the rust belt..dont forget to subscribe
Yeah wow, that drum retaining nut was not done properly. I wonder if it stayed on the car forget about ruining the bearing. I wish you would revise this video with a caution and warning.
I did caution in the beginning..not sure what drum retaining nut you are talking about..don't forget to subscribe
@@klowny1969 The Drum retaining nut that should be torqued to 173 foot pounds. The retainer that was snugged and backed off as would a normal bearing. This is not a normal bearing and has no cotter pin to keep the whole assembly Drum/Wheel from ejecting from the car. Don't get me wrong this was a really poor choice on Fords part. The fastener should also not be reused per Ford. I would update the notes to show the correct torque for the Drum Retaining Nut.
Daaaaaaamn Klowny! What were you and Brianna doing in the back of the focus to break the trailing arm?!?!?!! 🍻
She likes it rough ;)
Where did you buy replacement bolts? I attempted to get the lower forward link (dogbone) off but encountered the same problem you did. I intend to cut the arm off an I suspect that I'll need bolts just like you mentioned at the start.
try going to the dealer for them..good luck..and dont forget to subscribe
@@klowny1969 I'll try the dealer. I'm afraid of clowns, so no subscription from me.
You rock man 🖤🤙🏽

What kind of crazy suspension is this?
lol I don't know what ford was thinking
@@klowny1969 When this MK1 focus came out , the new suspension was a ' revolution ' in 1998 . Here in the UK the MK1 Focus became a bit of an ' Icon ' car .. here a quote from a review of the suspension ( rear ? ) I think at the time , ahead of its time IMO. ; Key to that was the car’s Control Blade multi-link rear suspension that married the packaging of a simple trailing-arm set-up with the sophistication and geometry of a double-wishbone unit, masterminded by Ford engineer Richard Parry-Jones. It gave the Focus incredible agility, composure and ride comfort for something so affordable. thanks Graham near London UK
Klowny I have an 08 Chevy Impala need engine work oil pan gasket etc. I'm in Bronx any recommendations where to take it?

Probably one of the worst rear suspensions I’ve had to work on so far. Definitely not fun, and the bolts do tend to rust practically frozen into the bushing sleeves like he said. Not a job for the faint of heart DIYer.
