Konami does not handle the TCG lists directly. Their branch offices do which are extremely detached from the main branches presumably
Is more like Konami finally make the generic synchro cheap: "ok, let's banned now".
I'm absolutely sure they over-tune the generic synchros because even konami can acknowledge that synchros are VERY bad simply because you need an special type of card to summon them.

Let's go, my favourite bad archetype might be playable 🔥🔥
Baronne does highlight the problem with how cards are printed in the TCG, for many baronne is finally cheap and it gets banned. Especially cards that are this good and destined to be hit should be affordable from the beginning.
No direct fire hit is pretty crazy to me, and maybe it also mean since appo isnt on here due to rarity, it means colossus and protos in rarity.
How about cards just being affordable in general, so that this issue doesn't even have to come up?
@@In.New.York.I.Milly.Rock. that would be the ideal scenario.
Linkuriboh is a very good hit. Snake-Eye is now far more vulnerable to HTs and board breakers.
@@strangevol5264 Sarcasam? It is the savage and baronne ban that make them more vulnerable to board breakers. As far as I know, linkuriboh just helped them dodge imperm and veiler during. Nib and everything else still does the same
Baronne was a ban worthy card ages ago. It being made affordable now doesn’t make that any less true. I’d also argue that the Maze of Memories reprint did a lot more than people want to admit. On release it dropped Baronne down to a $50 card and it settled at $40 before rarity collection came out. The card’s price got cut in half off that reprint. Even if you don’t think that’s enough, people have had around 6 months with their $3 Baronne. The card had already way overstayed its welcome. The only thing I think this list missed was Prosperity seeing as that’s the best modern draw spell by a country mile and arguably one of the strongest draw spells ever.
They also didn’t need to directly hit the fire stuff when they just gutted their end board. The game plan is now IP into Apollousa or SP and hope that’s good enough. Pure SE is completely dead and Fire King SE can’t use Linkuriboh to dodge hand traps anymore. You’re now more reliant on the Fire King stuff, and the grind game you get with Kirin and Garunix likely isn’t enough to compensate. They also hard lose to Nib now. You don’t need to hit the SE cards directly if you take away the things they make
Baronne and Savage don't need a ban, just an errata to require Fleur Synchron and a Rokket tuner, respectively. They pointlessly errata Goyo Guardian back in the day in a similar way. They are only broken because most decks can make them.
Nah, the problem is non synchro Decks had synchro capabilities
They banned goyo guardian for a long time before they gave him an errata. Also what cards have gotten erratas before they got banned first?
De-errata Goyo already but making Savage use a Rokket is about as useful as making Chaos Ruler need a Rokket, Pachinkomoney is currently on the warpath against Dragon Link so if only Dragon Link used Chaos Ruler and Savage, they'd still probably be beaned.
@wolfwoodstyleblue3946 That was by design, Pachinkomoney has been pushing omnisummon Decks that use a little of every Summon type since Arc-V.
They just made having Crossout in hand 100x better it’s the only out to nib now because you can hold ur imperm for apo when you use nib eff

copium alert
Interesting direction with baronne and savage getting banned, after RC reprint too. Soon appolousa and IP too after reprint in RC lol.
I think Baronne and Savage together being gone and essentially assassinating all possibilities of a deck having an omni-negate to back up the rest of their stuff is giant. This lowkey kind of kneecaps an entire PILLAR of the modern game. If you look at the past year or two or even three of the game, you could divide decks into one of three decks:
- Turbo Baronne Piles AKA decks that create a wall of negates if they go first that requires you dedicate blow out cards into your main and side deck to stop them
- Backrow/Spell & Trap Control Piles AKA decks that require you play backrow removal in your side deck at least
- The Midrange Grind AKA decks that use tons of card advantage and resilience in exchange for lower OTK potential and/or going first raw strength to rebound easily from interaction
With this, that first pillar is absolute punched right in the stomach. Not only does a Nibiru probably become a major threat nearly ALL the time to them, but this also means a ton of Spell board breakers now might just do the trick. Legit, you might could justify running Dark Hole now, although more likely in modern Yugioh we are more talking Triple Tactics Talents, Change of Heart, and Lightning Storm.
And a notable part is also that, mostly, those end boards are going to be smaller. A massive strength of Baronne and Savage is they were 3000 ATK negates, meaning absolutely no Normal Summon or similar at the start of your turn, ignoring extreme crap, could walk over them. The opponent ends on an Apo, Herald, or similarly sized monster? Let me show you my friend I like to call “Special Summon Fenrir/Pank”.
This is a massive change for the game in terms of the kinds of cards you are required to run. While every deck can safely run Nibiru now to fight combo piles, you also don’t necessarily NEED Nibiru against some of them anymore. A good Dark Hole or Triple Tactics Talents might just do the same thing if not better.
Problem is Savage Dragon and Baroone are too easy to bring out for almost no resources. A easy lvl 10 monster with both a negate and a destroy effect. Cards like all the lvl 12 dragon synchro monsters in Stardust decks atleast req you to build them up to get them on the board. Baroone is just summon a lvl 7 monster and use Ash to summon into her. Savage Dragon having multiple negates on him depending on the link monster used is also too good to have.
Banning generic monsters is the way to go to make YGH more balanced.
App gets kneecapped by Ghost Ogre, which Konami wants to make everyone play.
I just wanna take a moment to say that any 2 level 4's searches Protos (Infernal Flame Banshee into Nemeses Flag). Probably not gonna do much outside of swoswo, just like Cupid Pitch into Corridor into Collossus in MD, but since combo decks lost Baronne and Savage maybe they'll now do this...
also Wakaushi is a one card synchro 5 or rank 4, only one banished card and boom you can either go Protos or Collossus basically💀
conclusion: I think this is S C A R Y
you forget how desperate people get. Ogdoadic already banish, can make rank 4's and spit out Lars so topping it off with a protos OR Eschatos kills a lot of decks.
with Baronne and Savage lost I wouldnt be surprised to see pure snake eyes decks abuse the Evol engine to get lars as the double omni negate. I talked about it with a friend before and they agreed it was crazy but the other 2 were much better since it protects turn 1 combos instead of being interruptions on the opponents turn.
Honest question, how does it play under nib? Can it play over evenly?
Corridor can also be played in Swordsoul.
Corridor is also a Nemesis card, so the generic xyz to search flag can either be colossus or protos
Or, you know, just play Bonfire
Talents just became the best generic card in the game
Yeah lol
Lucky I bought them at $4 aud
The main issue I had with the format was not that it was tier zero, but that you had to be able to run 18 hand traps or your deck wasn't viable. The gameplay wasn't fun and it enabled a bunch of degenerate decks like Kashtira + 21 hand traps and (soon) Tenpai with 24 handtraps as well as stun. If We can get out of that kind of format, a lot of those decks will fall to the wayside and the format will be more engaging and allow more creativity. Snake Eye is a strong deck, and FKing snake eye barely lost anything, but that doesn't mean deckbuilding for the format is completely unchanged.
You are completely right, and the thing that allows for this type of deck building is the card design Konami has been creating for these new archetypes, making them UBER consistent with upwards of 12 1 card starters, That allows for so much space for non engine that these decks can easily fit in more than 15 handtraps. Without hitting the engine, these decks will still play these huge handtrap numbers since they dont need to play more engine cards when they have so many 1 card starters, so much consistency. It really is bad archetypal design from Konami, as it always is.
@@typhoono3393 Especially since it means that those decks can play through 2 or even 3 hand traps and still full combo you. So decks almost need to play that many hand traps, plus a board breaker or two. Or pray they go first.
@@typhoono3393funny that people always asking konami for making their deck became consistent however they choose to do those treatment in newer deck (rather than bad one)

Also Agents seeming like a good rogue deck now, with it being able to play Colossus and Ib who both got unbanned.

Then they approved this.
This is a great banlist in the alternate universe where Synchro decks have been getting powerful, useful boss monsters for the past 4 years, but in this universe it just means every Synchro deck from the past four years and beyond are going to have to watch as Konami drags their fucking feet trying to make decent archetypal boss monsters for the next several years.
Once the high of the Baronne ban wears off on this community I hope people are clear-eyed enough to understand how bad this could be for the years going forward. The OCG hasn't banned these cards, and unless they do, Synchro strategies are about to become stone-brick useless because the people in charge of making the cards will continue to assume Baronne and Borreload are things you can make when designing.
Yeah, it makes Snake Eye's board less frustrating, which is pretty objectively a good thing. Now let's see if they can actually design a fucking card game in the years to come.
What are you talking about? Plenty of interesting synchros have been created in the past 4 years. You just don't know about them because baronne made them irrelevant. Not anymore.
@@sulfenir2477Interesting doesn't mean playable, dummy.
I love barrone but objectively this is a good hit. Easily accessible generic omni negate will always be an issue and as much as I love synchro strats, combo decks need to be more vulnerable to niburu and not just easily make a negate before their 5th summon.
I understand your point and do agree with it since the OCG doesn't have these banned, but getting rid of the generic omnis is definitely a good thing even if synchro strats do end up getting worse for it.

Your perspective on the latest ban list is definitely the most interesting and in a more focused perspective on each hit.
The Forbidden Hits are definitely big and Summon Limit was way too excessive to be in the format.
I like the perspective you gave on the concept of being Trade-Offs when seeing what was limited. I also agree that seeing Anti-Spell getting hit alongside Summon Limit is a good trade off for stuff like Protos and Colossus.
Good reasoning for the Chicken Game limit too. I also think it’s in a good spot being only at 1 copy for the reasons Josh explained.
Semi-limits are okay and the unlimited cards are exciting. Malicious was fine at 2, but we will see how 3 copies will do.
I like seeing Engage being at full power and I’m excited to see how the Sky Striker Engine/Decks will do for more exciting interactions.
Harp horror and Terrortop are good to see unlimited too.
Good list overall. Maybe they could’ve hit Wanted to 1 and Snake-Eyes Ash to 2, but good hits.
Honestly I rather see snake eyes ash to 1 would actually bring the deck down and won't hit diabelstar which can be splashed in other decks like the adventure was.
Hitting ash would reduce their grindgame make them vulnerable and won't kill their consistency.
Now Yubel is the only meta deck that I can think off that have access to generic omni negate (the new rank 10 Wyrm)
Tear with rulk and grapha
Adventure might make a resurgence lol

How to hit Snake-Eyes without hitting Snake Eyes.
They want that money from the new Diabellstar/Diabellze support.
It does enough. Linkuriboh assisted them a bit too much, and nigh everything they do is generally fine.
I mean it weakens the final end board of the pure snake eyes version and also makes it that Nib and handtraps in general are more effective so it will be interesting how decks develop now
@@sammydray5919 it doesn't do anything against snake-eyes in terms of nib protection, they did not make early omni to play through nibiru they had an in archetype line for it. Also handtrap vulnerability is only worth something on the grind game because they already use handtraps on ash so you don't really get to dodge much on your first plays
@@beegyoshi1685 Just because the deck has lines that can play through nib doesn't mean that it wants to do that. The post nib board is MUCH weaker than their regular board so snake eyes absolutely want to go into a negate before it can come down depending on the hand. Its why the savage line was pretty popular to go into of the hand allowed so. This makes sure that outside of Appo, they have no way to prevent Nib. And handtrap vulnerability is absolutely a factor in the deck's playability because snake eyes has ways to play through and establish its board through multiple hand traps. The omnis and link kuriboh definitely helped with that on top of Link kuriboh protecting appo from battle or just using it to dodge stuff like imperm or veiler.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY PUT APOLLOUSA TO 4 LESGOOO
Somewhere in the darkness, Apo and Beatrice are having a giggling tea party.
I was extremely happy with the list because the banning of cards like BSD and Barone indicates a very nice direction for the game. They’re basically 2/3 poster children for unbreakable boards, and banning them means that Konami are trying to move away from that style of play, at least in the TCG.
that's what i hope
I like where this is going
there's a million checks for omnis. there are none for shifter and very little for santifier
Definitely the right move. Boss monsters with negates should be saved for less generic cards, or need to be harder to go into. Or both. They can always keep hitting the shiny new deck, and sure the top decks are always gonna get hit at some point, but they needed to hit these generic Omni Negates EVENTUALLY. Yes the hits hurt weaker decks, but these cards make the top decks very degenerate.
It was time to rip the bandaid off even if it hurts weaker decks more. Time to start printing better and less generic archetypal Synchro's so the random best deck in 3 years can't use it while the deck it's meant for gets to reap the rewards. This isn't to say generic ED monsters don't have a place. I think they do, but not Omni Negates. Also not to say archetypal ED boss monsters haven't been an issue in the past, they have, but they're more restrained and not used in every deck under the sun.

For me personally the hits on Savage and Baronne are more than just correct.
Over the last couple formats it started to feel like that those two alongside Apo and Access are "untouchable" mainstay staples for the ED. Now with two of them gone - I have hope that those other two can also be hit if a format will make them dominant enough again.
Both are in rarity collection 2. Id expect them both to be banned by end of 2024.

Long term, banning Baronne and Borreload will just make rogue decks worse. Like, the Fire King version of Snake-Eyes doesn't even use synchros and if you look at former meta decks, like Kashtira, Labrynth, Tearlaments, Despia, Unchained, Purrely, Rikka, Vanquish Soul, how many of those actually rely on generic ED monster to make their board? What will happen is that once Snake-Eyes gets hit, Konami will just print new archetypes with their own boss monsters and rogue decks that don't have a good in-archetype boss monster will not be able to compete.
That gives them room for design space though. I do agree with your argument, but when they did decide to make those boss monsters, it's always a toss up between Baronne vs. other level 10s, Savage vs. other level 8s. More often than not, more balanced boss monsters which are reasonable are often left out because of Baronne and Savage (an e.g. of a pretty decent boss monster is Arktos for Vaylantz). I've been playing Endymion, Pendulum Magician, and Dracoslayers almost exclusively since MD launched and I can count the number of Pendulum "mirrors" on a closed fist.
my z-arc deck is salivating at the idea of it coming back
@@quad1948 and this is still a huge investment that if you don't already have Jackal/Endymion out you will end your turn on a Nib Token or Imperm/Veiler on Electrum. Despite Maxx C hurting the main deck even more than playing into it, Pend is absolutely fine and actually got its identity back now that it has to rely on Vortex, Jackal, Endymion, or Time Pendulumgraph instead of Baronne/Savage. Hopefully Apollo goes next after the reprint.
@@quad1948 Well yes, but that doesn't really do much outside of Dracoslayers, as princess will lock you from special summoning something like Astrograph. In order to keep the Electrumite pop you'd have to link off Princess without using up Electrumite, which requires quite a few bodies.
It makes it feel like a 'win more' card, as a handtrap could easily prevent that. But uninterrupted with good hands makes it a problem.
But with less omni-negates. What will it really accomplish? That combo is still in Master Duel after all
We're time traveling back to TOSS format with this one boys.
As much as i am happy with the banlist, One of the cope things i think we shouldnt necessarily do is that, the banlist isnt a trade off. Konami doesnt need to "negotiate" and do a give and take with the banlist. They can just remove a bunch of cards or add in a bunch of cards if they want.
Obviously. Why did you feel the need to type this out?
That part with the trade-offs was about comparing good and bad changes on the banlist, evaluating whether the overall impact on the game will be positive or negative.
Protos won‘t see play outside of Swoso and losing Baronne essentially kills that deck otherwise. Colossus isn‘t an issue in MD or OCG so why should it stay banned?
@@Tony-hn8qybecause some people don't get it and still pretend like it's not just used as a marketing tool.

The funny thing is that with a list like this that hits omninegates, Evenly Matched / Lightning Storm / HFD become extremely strong, and thus the stun decks that people were playing become almost unplayable, and need to start including counter traps that can negate spells and traps to have a chance.
Oh well maybe they shouldn’t be playing degenerate decks like stun then.

Lightsworn finally gets away with minimal collateral. The Baron/Savage loss is still something but we have a lot of level 10 synchros like Chaos Angel and Dispater, and the extra room gives options to add either F0 or Luluwalilith. Naturia Beast and Apollousa will be hard carrying Lightsworn more than ever. I predict the deck still won't be meta but it's gonna be a strong rogue deck finally.
Lightsworn is getting new support, so Pachinkomoney wants to promote it, not gut it. 😂
Adding Kirin to my Crystal Witches asap 😎✊🏽
Nibiru is gonna go so hard in the upcoming format
Inb4 baronne comes back with an errata requiring a fluer tuner and synchro monster.
I would be fine with that these cards should never have been generic
Need to be hit no OCG for that.
I honestly think being only locked for winds decks could be fine errata.
Just lock the negate behind a fleur monster used for synchro summon hits the card enough imo
Josh gonna be happy his skystriker or runic deck can slay fire decks going second consistantly 😂😂
01:58 like , banning both synchro omnis all decks can use makes so many deck even more unplayable

@xantiagoraco9347 no but there are some decks where that the only lvl8 synchro or synchro that makes sense to play , they should have not ban 1 of those 2 at least , and give more direct hits

Real talk I love how they bring back colossus at a time where it's "mistake" like effect allows it to be effective in an otherwise overwhelming metagame
It's funny wording with a double meaning I like that
I think the omni negates getting banned is unquestionably good, but we also need to get rid of Evenly and Nibiru because now more than ever, they just rip apart boards with zero counterplay.
Like combo decks arent gonna be spamming negates as much anymore, so its fair that the more busted/unfun boardbreakers also have to take a hike so that people can't destroy a player's life because they had it in their opener.
1. Evenly has a plethora of counters
2. And you can play decks that don’t lose to nib
If you’re having a hard time with nib and evenly it may be time to play a new deck
@@ItSpooling_
1. Evenly's counters are backrow negates, something that bot every deck can pull off and banishment fucks over a lot of decks.
2. As a Resonatoe/Raidraptor fan, I don't particularly care? Nib hoses a lot of decks thar need to combo off to make their basic plays and you shouldn't have to play exclusively meta decks that end on a negate in less than 5 summons to play.
@@Monroah cool then have fun losing to evenly/ nib
Given that they just printed SP little night in the past year, I don't see this ban list as change in direction for Konomi's balancing philosophy. I think the Baronne and Savage bans are temp. In 6 months when they release the next tier 0 deck they will unban these cards and hit core Snake-Eys cards.

TOSS FORMAT ROUND 2 LETS GOOOOOO
Great list,glad they did that
At this point I think that either there is a guy inside Konami that leaks the bans or Konami lets the playerbase make the banlist.
This is a joke. Like I would kind of agree with the banning of omnis if cards like tactics, evenly matched, nib, etc wouldn't exist.
This just makes going 2nd against any T2/Rogue deck incredibly broken.
Besides that the fact that they didn't hit Snake eyes at all, leaving it at T0 and basically making those hits meaningless is also insane. Even zoodiac got hit after release with Rat to 2, which atleast did something.
And then theres also the fact that protos and collosus come off which are two generic cards which shouldn't exist in the game. Combo decks can now literally end on collosus instead of savage by using corridor.
Also, many decks that relied on Savage and Baronne are now dead; those two saved against things lile Lightning Storm and Dark Hole or Evenly Matched, but now? Hope you have an archetypal negate or protection, otherwise you're dead.
@@Lithosagymfan173 Dragon Link had an archetypal negate AND IT GOT BANNED

Nemeses Corridor stonks
If I desperately wanted an omninegate in Snake Eyes that stops Nibiru the easiest one I can think of is 1. Summon Ash, add Poplar => 2. Summon Poplar, add OSS => 3. Use OSS to summon T.G. Rocket Salamander from deck => 4. Tribute Salamander to summon T.G. Jet Falcon from deck => 5. Synchro Falcon + Ash into Herald of the Arc Light. Of course, Herald has that effect to banish any cards sent to the grave from your hand or deck which can screw up your other combos depending on which Snake Eye variant your running, but it can also mess with the opponent's combos too.
Yeah but this is a huge choke point now since OSS needs to resolve for this line
TCG consistently blowing the OCG out the water with their last couple banlists has been so nice
Maxx C being banned in the TCG alone makes the banlist 100x better
TCG Copium 😂😂
TCG banlist: ban cheap card, keep expensive card at three.
I don’t think every combo deck should auto lose to your opponent happens to draw the rock. Lines where you can get to Apo in under 5 are generally pretty limiting to access; I don’t mind counterplay to Nib.
Pachinkomoney wants to force you to play Ultimaya Tzolkin + Crystal Wing in those 2 ED slots.
Baronne and Savage being taken behind the shed and Colossus is back....Nature is healing...TOSS is back!
The list is an amazing step in the right direction… the snake eyes cards excel at putting bodies on the board and converting the bodies into advantage, and power pieces… this list will hurt the BS first turn boards, and make them more susceptible, but the deck will still be on top of the meta… be ready for a ton of Accesscode, and Raging Phoenix OTKs on the crack back and you’ll be fine
THIS IS THE BEST BANLIST EVER
i would like to note, Snake eyes can still make 1 omni negate. its not... the BEST omni negate, and still plays a fair bit into thrust, but it only takes 3 ED slots (which just got cleared up) and 3 main deck slots. The combo goes as follows
Normal summon snake eyes ash, add poplar. Poplar summons itself, add original. Link poplar into anima, poplar set itself. original sinful to send anima and search *salamangreat Mole* from the deck. Mole link into balelynx, balelynx add the salamangreat field spell. Ash send itself and poplar to special oak from deck, oak special poplar from the grave. Oak send itself and balelynx, special flamberge from deck. Flamberge+poplar links into IP, flamberge effect to reborn 2 lvl 1s (doesnt matter which) for examples sake well say oak and ash. IP+oak into promethean princess, princess reborn flamberge. flamberge set IP from grave, princess+ash makes Salamangreat Raging phoenix. PLay the salad field spell you searched before, and re-link phoenix, Searching out salamangreat Roar, setting it to your field.
you now have
1 omni-negate, as long as a salad link monster is on your field (if they get stolen, thats ok, ill explain why in a sec)
1 pop via promethean princess, and you can protect your raging phoenix via the balelynx in grave if you want.
1 IP link into SP/apo (either a 3 mat apo or an S:P, which ever you prefer) for either 3 monster negates or 2 banishes.
Additionally, if they steal the raging phoenix, you can link the flamberge+IP into SP, flamberge will reborn Oak and Ash, then you reborn poplar and ash can search followup, poplar will also search followup. Now, next time you use princess, the raging phoenix in your grave will trigger to summon itself, you still have an omni negate live.
Its not NEARLY as simple and clean as baronne or borreload Savage was, but its not THAT many more cards, and they were already running 1 phoenix, so all they need to add to the ED is another phoenix and a balelynx, and for the main you swap out the 1 jet synchron with mole and add the field spell. Either draw isnt bad either, cause then you dont need to make bale lynx specifically, and mole is a free summon to ANY zone a link monster is pointing to as long as you have link summoned this turn, meaning its never a dead draw you just search a different lvl 1 off of original.
At that point just play salad, cause salad makes that exact board.
So put 3 bricks in the deck to end on a Nib Token, while Roar can't deal with Spell/Trap EFFECTS (only card activations) instead of just playing Silvera and getting an almost equally good omni negate + protection for your future play + followup by triggering Diabel on the opponent's turn.
If your concern is S/T negates for Evenly and you want it to be always accessible by the Snake engine (OSS) you can still go for Jet, Formula, Cupid Pitch into Dawn Dragster + Colossus.
@@joshuacaesar2025 Salad Snake is kinda good, actually. The snake-eyes give the deck tons of extenders and consistency, at the cost of a good chunk of non-engine
