Thanks, 73's
i have a radioshack trc 485 and should be on channel 37 this weekend mowerjunkie
I work the UK from Thailand on channel 19 fm, but only when conditions allow of course.
Excellent video John :) also never heard of this radio and seen one ever too! Very cool and be interesting how many people use Fm on the 1 to 40 your way and watts to put out that radio! I know FM need Squelch Control on on to point or hear high Hiss!
Screw FM! Nothing but a novelty.
Nobody says that you have to use it. From what I can hear, only DX stations are using it.
@@spaceflight1019it is another great propagation platform I have talked all 4 corners USA and twice across the pond no amp and only antron99
Don't badmouth what you haven't tried yet right now since FM has been authorized in USA these radios will command higher prices till the newness wears off!!!
FM is AWESOME! LOL
FM is great at short distances. More clear and better range. Until you start doing skip that is. I'm not saying it's better in all cases but overall it is at normal operating distances. An AM signal at 4 watts and an FM signal at 4 watts is generally going to show FM sounding better and going farther. Just my experience
@@wildweasel6898 FM if properly tuned on both sides transmitter and receiver you have a very good contact but the offsets range by set up tech if one is setup tight and the other loosely dIstances will naturally change set to tightest and same as those you speak with range increases locally at same wattage I have so few local operators on any mode I can only deal dx made all 4 corners USA and half dozen pond jumps.
Nice 1980's new radio UDX-151 i wanna see some skip videos on it and range test.
MJ.,
Are you planning to do a vid on this radios performance on the air? I'd love to see how sensitive the rx is and it's TX audio and power...
I like the look of this radio. Retromodern. What is the audio like on AM/FM does it sound as good as it looks?
👍👍👍📻
Why do they still use a 9-19 switch? No one monitors 9 anymore. Plus the Mexicans have taken over the channel!
Maybe newer CBs will be labeled "Mexican" and "Trucker" instead of 9 and 19. 🙂
Channel 9 is actually a Puerto Rico shootout channel, but apparently high-powered bases here in the States are fighting back because I heard one of the PRs melt down the other day.
"If you don't like it go back to school and learn Spanish!" That was the cleaned up version.

Hi dear, actually we have set 9/19 as the default emergency channels based on market research, and this seems a market practice. But we have learned about many users have the same complaints as you. Could you please tell us what channel should be used as the emergency channel if 9/19 channels are not suitable? Sincerely look forward to your reply so that we can improve product design in the future.🥰
@@retevisQA Emergency channels are not needed. Nobody monitors them. Channel 19 on AM is the more popular channel used by truck drivers. So if anyone needs and emergency help, channel 19 would be their best chance to contact someone.
Skip is still low level since the solar eclipse april 8 the 7 th i had 15-20 S units of just static and sincefew if any dx contacts each solar flare triggers it again right now not as heavy as end last week where hundreds farm implements died in fields both USA and Canada gps and sat phones glitching even John Deere company wrote up article on equipt failures
I lost an amp to the first storm in conjunction with a static storm the amp one of newest surface mount boards which i was not using due the drop of dx from eclipse day till the CME days
The heck with am & fm to noisy side band is so much better
SSB is too useless and noisy, AM and FM are WAY BETTER. LOL
