Literally cut his hand for it only true actors would willingly perform through that and not stop production but he just acts as if nothing even happened true talent
While a lot of due credit goes to Leo for delivering through while injured, you also have to give credit to the rest of the cast and crew for staying in character and powering through it as well.
After he injured his hand, crew changed a few behavior regulations for each cast member so they don't feel disturbed which would lead them to bad acting abilities.
If the cut and blood on the hand was really unscripted that's brilliant improvising when he later wipes his blood across the face of the wife. Really sets the tone of how he views her as his property. Must've been weird for the wife actor if that was actually his real blood being smeared across her face unless they stopped before that scene, cleaned Leo's blood off, and put fake blood instead lol
In the last bit of the video ( 9:12 ) Candie moves his jaw in what seems a circular motion, almost like a yawn. Could that be interpreted as a pacifing behaviour? I think he is trying to relieve some stress because he didn't know whether there were enough money or not and when his servant counts them and Candie sees that he has enough, he is relieved.
Considering he just sliced his hand open on some glassware, I think the reason for pacifying behavior could also be to try and relieve a bit of pain. I know clenching teeth, mouth movement (along with plenty of cursing) is a natural reaction to intense pain, along with regular, if greatly exaggerated, pacifying behavior, like slowly exhaling or shuffling feet.
Thanks for breaking down their body language. Being able to convey these non verbal cues is what seperates great actors from good actors. I don't fully understand what these actors are doing, but watching them you can feel the emotions they are portraying.
@Jakob Parsons. Leo 100% got hurt when he hit his hand on the table with glass cutting him because you can see Leo looking at his hand, but when he put his hand on the women’s face that was after Leo got treated for his injury.
Love it. This is right up there with Pulp Fiction for my favorite Tarantino film. I know you already did the intro scene for Inglourious Basterds, but I'd also love to see you break down the scene in the basement bar where some of the Basterds are undercover as German officers. Something from Hateful Eight or Reservoir Dogs could also be interesting.
Good choice in the movie, I enjoyed that one. Seeing as it's the same actor could you show the scene in Inglorious Bastard where she dines with her fans killer. Damn good scene for ur channel imo
@@hansenyan6217 yes look at Sam L Js reaction he had no idea. Nobody knew it until the scene was called to cut. It's amazing how Leo can stay in character after that injury.
It's like Leo used the pain he was going through to heighten his own emotions, and I must say the other actors also did a great job by letting Leo just go like that. Everyone would instinctively ask if he was okay, but it's like they just knew Leo was going to take it and run with it.
Don't know if it's already been said but Decaprio had trouble doing the entire scene because of the "N" word. It took Samuel L. Jackson himself to talk him into it.

The guy with the shotgun would have blown his head off before he got anywhere near Candie. The Dr. has a hidden pistol but it's a one-shot Derringer, the interesting question is whether he would have used that one shot on Candie or the shotgun guy.

Very "courageous" of not only the actors but the director to keep the shot going after seeing so much blood come from the injury. Not to mention Dicaprio determination to actually continuing the take but everyone thinks of that.
6:25, am I reading too far into it, or when Django shifts his feet, does Candy raise his voice slightly? If he did, then he was probably trying to intimidate Django, either that or Candy's anger was rising because he thought Django was about to disobey him(take his hands off the table)
