As somebody who could coast (not mentally there yet) and has been freelancing for the past 13 years, be aware that freelancing isn't always as freeing as you think it is. It's feast or famine and unpredictable. So you may think you can craft your own schedule but your clients will dictate that for you. Sure you can turn work away but only if you're at a surplus for work.
That's a great point-freelancing can allow you to design your schedule more easily, but when you get dropped, it can be really difficult. Personally, I'm working to build up my solopreneur emergency fund so I can decrease my financial anxiety if I lose a client.
@@MarriageKidsandMoney Yeah, that's exactly what I've done. I've always had a sizable cash reserve and it's come in handy a few times in my time freelancing.
