Purple Martin dry gourd modification

This modification will keep water from being wicked up through the drainage holes. This is a common cause of wet nests. Wet nests lead to excessive amounts of premature fledgelings due to mite explosions and filthy nest conditions. This is my method to eliminate that issue

Thank you for this. I’m preparing new gourds. I’m a first timer. I’m planning to put my elbow vent at the same height as the “hooded” undrilled vents from the factory. Do you think that’s a decent place for it?
I saw you speak in another video and got the step drill and thread cutter. Thank you for the tip!

Where do I get a waffle tip bolt?

You would have to make it yourself. You can take a 1/2" bolt and use a hacksaw to cut the waffle grid pattern.
