I have enjoyed your talks about his Alzheimer's as 2 yrs ago my wife wanted her parents to move in as her dad has Alzheimer's . However his was very aggressive and passed in less then a year. Not trying to bring anyone down but, on the contrary to let you know this was the most rewarding experiences . I was able to take him outside and do garden and lawn work with him which I could see him light up as this was his favorite thing to do for years and years. Taking care of him the last few months was hard but, it was so rewarding to see how close we all got and to know he passed being loved and cared for and about. God bless you guys

    I just love this!
Jason..." I choose not to be sick" in reference to the Seinfeld episode
" I choose not to run!"
He is brilliant no matter what type of dementia he may have.
Also remembered pink Floyd my favorite song " comfortably numb"
He continues to have a great sense of humor and you too beautiful Leslie. You laugh together and push through each day TOGETHER ❤️
Cooking , music and making plans and projects. I'm glad you're feeling better Leslie though still coughing.

Jason has such a sense of humor . Sounds like the other neurologist will be able to give you some verification of the type of dementia. Glad Jason is up for the tests. You still have your cough. When will you know about the immunotherapy ? You need to be able to feel better. I worry about you but pray for you every day. So happy to hear that Jason was a good boy while you were so sick 😊 ❤❤❤🙏🙏

What a difference in care in your area. We haven't even seen a neurologist at all. I wasn't even told what to expect as a caregiver which is why I started watching your videos. I googled his symptoms and long term prognosis. I really wasn't told much. You guys are being really helpful to me! God Bless you both!

    • @BhappyD
      @BhappyD Рік тому +5

Are you in the US? If finding a satisfactory doctor/neurologist is difficult in your area, you may want to look into neurologists in other areas that you can do a telehealth(video) visit with. There are doctors, especially at bigger hospitals, who will take on virtual patients, where everything is done over video calls rather than in person. If you have limited choices in your area, it is definitely something worth looking into that doesn’t involve traveling anywhere. How you were treated isn’t satisfactory, and I know firsthand how difficult that is. It makes dealing with a critical progressive disease 100x harder than it should be when you don’t have a competent medical team on board who you can trust.
Prayers to you and your husband. Being a caregiver for a loved one is one of the most wonderful and difficult things someone can do. For me, it’s the reverse. I don’t have dementia or Alzheimer’s, but I do have a different critical progressive disease, and my mother is my full time caregiver. I promise that even if your husband may not always be able to express it, he appreciates everything you do for him and is beyond grateful. For those of us who need care, getting that care in any capacity from a loved one is the biggest blessing
May God bless you both In this season of your lives. 🙏🏻💕🌻

I apologize if this has been asked before, but Jason has an excellent sense of humor AND he can make jokes. In other words, he is capable of both reactive AND more importantly proactive behaviors. I know you two have been together forever, so was he always like this or is this a good way of him managing verbal interaction? Oh and you are so correct, music can (limited way of course) aid memory and cognition.

I've been watching since the beginning and they said he's always been like this and that he's always been extremely social. He does have days where he does what is referred to as "show timing" but I think we all do that when we aren't feeling up to speaking with others or making a video.
This particular video, was genuine and I think being in the car driving, helped keep Jason more occupied. I had a family member with dementia so I'm familiar with it, first hand. Leslie also says he has his good days and his bad days but she says they often take advantage of his good days to film, he's more inclined to be in the mood to film. Just my two cents.

Thank you for sharing your frustration with doctors and how they don't always "hear" us. I had Polio as a child and for 25 years, have been dealing with Post Polio Syndrome which is the continuing degeneration of my nerves and muscles injured by the polio virus. It is challenging, painful, and frustrating but, like you, I have the Lord to help me get through the "stuff". I'm praying for you, and your husband, for the difficulties you are undergoing.

My husband went to sleep every night listening to scripture or teachings from some of his favourite scripture , he never lost his desire to hear scripture or talk about God . He wanted Psalm 91 read to him every night and I had to do what he called his blessing , which was me praying for him . The only thing he could focus on to watch on TV was Shark Tank because it involved short segments with an end point that was prominent . We would say “who are they going to pick “ and he’d say Robert or Mr Wonderful ! His vocabulary got more limited as time went on but still enjoyed scripture and prayer spoken over him . If he was going to lose memory , I’m so glad that the last prolonged memory was Jesus and scripture because it helped all of us to maintain a sense of peace during and after . God’s blessings on you and your family ,💕💕💕

Just found you and thank you for your honesty regarding Lewy Body. It’s looking like my 72 year old sweet hubby has it. We do his skin test in April but everything seems to point that way. He already started on his meds and so far doing well. I’m looking to find all the information I can get my hands on to help take care of him. Like you, I’ll be his caregiver. I’m only 63 so hopefully I can continue because I’m in good health. I’ll be checking in on you both a lot. So thanks so much for all your doing! I also love your home decor videos to the great work! ❤❤❤❤❤

What is amazing is that even though you've both spoken of his behavior changes it seems like his personality still shines through. First, WOW what an amazing test to determine Lewy body dementia. Hopefully, there's a better treatment to help Jason.
Second, It seems that Jason is much more talkative and engaging when you're driving. Maybe it's because he's not stuck in one place but instead there's scenery and movement around him and that helps open his mind.
You're both wonderful and so brave to share this medical issue with all of us 💖💖

Loved this video. You are right, he is so much more relaxed and able to communicate on all the topics both short-term and in the past with his usual wonderful sense of humour. One of the things that struck me the most was how medicine/science advances in the blink of an eye so maybe getting a more definitive answer as to what kind of dementia Jason has will be a good thing because it may allow for different and better treatments.

Your videos are so enjoyable and they have been an exceptional help to me. My husband of 58 years is struggling with advanced Parkinson's disease. When I feel discouraged and lonely I am immediately uplifted watching your energetic positive videos (lots of laughter and smiles). Thank you putting yourself out there and helping others living in relatable situations.

Music heals the core. I’m so much more happy when I have my headphones with turning up the volume and focusing on what I’m doing or when feeling sad Jason is looks to be doing good and you are an amazing caregiver, wife, mom, grandmother ❤❤❤ thank you for sharing your journey 💕

Lesley, kudos to you for your exquisite ability to exploit your own strengths, Jason’s strengths and your strengths together as a couple. I love your observation that Jason has a greater command and a thorough enjoyment of reminiscing about events of the past.

Love your joint videos!!! You two are role models in so many ways. Starting your life together young and with a family, you two have stayed strong together!! The love you have for each other shines through. I know some days must be very difficult, but listening to the two of you talk about travieling, it's clear it's something you have loved to do together. Jason, I am learning the gutiar at 61 and I find it exhausting too! I am really enjoying it but after each lesson I am worn out! Glad the Chiefs won for you, it was a great game.

I was reading in John Swinton’s excellent book last week - Dementia Living in the Memories of God, that the part of the brain that responds to music resides right next to where memory is stored and that they have found a direct correlation to music helping to draw memories out in a person affected by dementia. I’m also Loving Christine Brydens book Dancing With Dementia. John’s book is written for pastors, Christine has done extensive work in promoting better care and consideration for Dementia patients. She has been living with frontal lob dementia since 1995. You’ve probably read at least one of these books, but thought I would mention them in the off chance you haven’t.

I can definitely see as he goes from long term and short memory. He noticeably forgets and then brings up something irrelevant to the conversation and then cracks the cutest jokes!! Thank God he has all the old memories to bring up. He is doing so well compared to many years mom with ALheimers. GOD BLESS YOU GUYS!!💋💋💌💌

Leslie, yes, this is a totally different Jason than the one we see in your other videos! It gives a glimpse of the old Jason and my heart breaks for you both! I’ve told you before that my husband is a stroke survivor and has aphasia and apraxia but we continue to go to therapy and hope for some improvements. I know we have different situations but my point is that brain injury and brain disease are sad and can be overwhelming not only for the afflicted but for the wives and families. I found a stroke survivor wife group that has helped me so very much! Just knowing you are not alone helps! I continue to keep you in my prayers 🙏🏻 thank you for sharing your story and helping others!

Jason, you seemed very relaxed, nice sense of humor, the conversation flowed nicely, and I have to say I didn’t notice obvious signs of the Lewy body like I have in the past. I know that Lewy body can’t go into remission, but I could swear that you’re actually improving. That’s my observation. Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it it seems to be working!

Loved this. I totally agree with car talking being easier than a regular conversation. Loved hearing about the 'olden days' haha. It is good that he has happy memories in his long term memory. My mother didn't. Living her was so hard when her dementia got worse. Give Jason a big squeeze from all of us.

I am truly delighted to see your beloved husband Jason better! We have also had stressful times (yet undiagnosed) but being better now mentally since a couple of weeks. Now it's changing into a phase of feeling very sleepy again after some period of activity. We do some water gym class though (in a nearby spa) until weather gets warmer to go by bike again. Waiting and watching out for Jesus' return in Germany, glad you're feeling fine! 🙏👰💖 MARANATHA

I hope you get some answers on Jason's dementia. Maybe his symptoms or direction of treatment could be different. My hubby has FTD/CBD but I've noticed symptoms that let me know other parts of his brain are also being affected now. Being a caregiver to a dementia patient is so difficult. You never know what to expect from minute to minute. I guess I'm better off than some being a retired nurse who worked with many dementia patients. I wss in traininng for my final nursing job and didnt know
    it. God bless you both.
