I feel like this is the most powerful song ever written. It resonates with an issue that has been present in society since human civilization began. The term artist is used so lightly these days to describe an entertainer but Lady Gaga is truly the DaVinci of her industry, a pure genius and exeptional human being. Even though I have not suffered or experienced the pain of sexual assault or rape, I could feel the pain others have felt with every single note Gaga sang. Sadly she did not win the Oscar for the song but she did something much bigger that night and shined a light on an issue that should not exist.
How did this not win? I watched this live when it happened and cried I’m watching it now years later and crying my eyes out. So much emotion! Also Cate Winslet standing up and clapping 💖💖💖
I Just watched the superbowl performance...of Beyonce. And i could only think about this... This stunning, gorgeous, deeply sung, ode, to all survivors of.... Of all bad things, happend to you, and me. The sheer sinpelness of this still great performance, made me humble.... And although its un comparable, still..... Could nt say that from the overly luxoury show of Beyonce... Gaga, you rule! ❤❤❤ Thanks for this beautifull, heartfelt performance, Which makes me cry, each time again. Stay as you are... Please... ❤ Ans so much respect, for all of you, survivors!!! I'm not a survivor of abuse, but still strugling to survive a depression, after a lot! of other shit, in my live... Till it happens to you, you DONT know, how I feel....
That flawless octave jump will always give me chills! Not many would even dare attempt that during a live performance in one of the biggest platforms in the world.
I was watching this Oscars with my mom and stepdad. Both my mother and I experienced sexual abuse, my mother repeatedly throughout her life. We all cried during this performance and all my mom could say was, “wow”.
Lady Gaga's performance was so intensely emotional. So brave singing a song that spoke of her experience & it was so hard for her because at the beginning she was getting emotional but held it and delivered the song w/ umphh and I cried coz I felt that pain .
TW: SA. Have any other survivors watched this about 100 times on the anniversary or when something triggered them? I was assaulted in my sleep in family vacation by my aunts boyfriend. I was passed out from muscle relaxers because I have endometriosis which causes intense pain when Im on my menstrual cycle. I woke up to the attempt and managed to stop him from progressing further... but it haunts me every single day. Mostly how I was treated by the people around me who protected him after I came forward. I have been no contact with family that didn't support me and manipulated me into silence and now one is passing away, and I have to say my goodbyes, even though they never protected me or acknowledged my pain. I can't stop watching this. It wasn't our fault. We did the right thing by coming forward. Do not let them silence you. If you are reading this and you somehow understand what I am saying know you are not alone. We will make it through this. I see you.

I crie😢everyday since I was diagnosed with cancer. Listing to song helps get through the pain . The song shows people we go through a lot . We all go through things
this has been one of the few performances ive watched in my entire life that actually moved me to tears. Gaga, you are truly a sensational human being and every single survivor in the world out there, you are not alone, you are strong, it is NOT your fault. that standing ovation was more deserved than anything.
What makes me cry almost uncontrollably is when the survivors are slowly revealed and you just keep seeing more people. There shouldn't be that many people. There shouldn't be anyone.
Imagine living in Ukraine or Gaza and having to be afraid of bombing everyday. The other side are always being fed with propaganda so I don’t blame you.
As a child sexual abuse victim, this really gets me. The song and the emotions just reminds me to that moment at the hospital when i abused by a doctor. This is insane but makes me stronger.
This performance and song are so beautiful. I met Gaga after I drove my care into a telephone pole a month or so earlier. I broke my whole body crawled out of a fire coded out was amputated and then saved. She was so kind to me and I even in that state waited 8 hours in hot concrete for her b/c i knew she was planning a secret show in nashville to promote her album. She is magic and truly a martyr for sexual assault victims, women and gay men who have been abused. Love you Gaga

Kent Dobbs no no, she ment the actresses and male actors in the audience that were used and abused throught out there careers by people they worked for or with. Unfortunately
This song must be so challenging to sing live, it's so deep and hard to process. She is so brave...
She deserved the Oscar for this song so much compared to Sam Smith and it’s such a shame
You tell me: "It gets better, it gets better in time"
You say I'll pull myself together, pull it together
"You'll be fine"
Tell me, what the hell do you know?
What do you know?
Tell me, how the hell could you know?
How could you know?
Til it happens to you, you don't know how it feels
How it feels
Til it happens to you, you won't know
It won't be real
No, it won't be real
Won't know how it feels
You tell me: "Hold your head up
Hold your head up and be strong
'Cause when you fall, you gotta get up
You gotta get up and move on"
Tell me, how the hell can you talk?
How can you talk?
'Cause until you walk where I walk
It's just all talk
Til it happens to you, you don't know how it feels
How it feels
Til it happens to you, you won't know
It won't be real (how could you know?)
No, it won't be real (how could you know?)
Won't know how I feel
Till your world burns and crashes
Till you're at the end, the end of your rope
Till you're standing in my shoes
I don't wanna hear nothing from you, from you, from you
'Cause you don't know
Til it happens to you, you don't know how I feel
How I feel, how I feel
Til it happens to you, you won't know
It won't be real (how could you know?)
No, it won't be real (how could you know?)
Won't know how it feels
Til it happens to you, happens to you, happens to you
Happens to you, happens to you, happens to you
(How could you know?)
Til it happens to you, you won't know how I feel
That song has a powerful meaning
I love Sam Smith but he definitely did NOT deserve to win over this song!!
Based on this live version, no. But the film/studio version is not as powerful as this.
@@MalleFup Strangely, i have to agree with this comment!!!
Thanks for this beautifull, heartfelt performance, Which makes me cry, each time again.
Stay as you are... Please... ❤
Ans so much respect, for all of you, survivors!!!
I'm not a survivor of abuse, but still strugling to survive a depression, after a lot! of other shit, in my live...
Till it happens to you, you DONT know, how I feel....
Actually gaga should have two academy awards one for shallow and one for this gem of a song'Till it happens to you'
The best musical performance in the entire history of the Oscars. Definitely.
I have no idea how she managed to hold it together - this performance is so powerful. 😭😭😭
That flawless octave jump will always give me chills! Not many would even dare attempt that during a live performance in one of the biggest platforms in the world.
She’s incredible omg
What is an octave jump? Which min did she do that?
We already know she deserved win an Óscar for this performance too
I was watching this Oscars with my mom and stepdad. Both my mother and I experienced sexual abuse, my mother repeatedly throughout her life. We all cried during this performance and all my mom could say was, “wow”.
You both are so strong and brave 💜.
This is one of those performances that will live forever.
4 minutes of mind-blowing artistic and moral truth. A truly historic performance.
I still remember when gaga experienced the same as those brave woman 😢❤️🩹
She is coming for her Oscar in 2019 with A Star Is Born ❤
I guess you were right🤩😘
Lady Gaga's performance was so intensely emotional.
I see you.
I'm sorry for what you went through... you are so strong and brave. Sharing your story it takes a lot of courage. You deserve hapiness, you deserve to live without fear and pain, you deserve the best. I hope you are doing ok, if not try to remember that you are an amazing person, and you are worthy of love 💜.
Gaga is now one of my favorites, she inspires a lot, shes a great story teller and lifts up the life of me
As a survivor this gets to me!
People who are survivors are stronger than they think! ❤️
she was so so great for this. so beautiful.
crying my eye's out with this one after watching her interview.. i can't process how brave she was
This is why she's a real icon
Without a doubt one of the best performances of the Oscars. This woman has an amazing voice, she delivered an amazing message and she showed victims that they too can survive. This woman is incredible.
This is why I hate the oscars. She deserved the win. This song is, in my opinion, not just a great song but one of the best songs ever written.
It’s incredibly powerful and full of so much raw emotion.
I am survivor more than once. This song gets me everytime because it is true. You can't possibly know what it is like until you have gone through and pray you never experience it.
She actually looks angry and broken. I love her!
I crie😢everyday since I was diagnosed with cancer. Listing to song helps get through the pain . The song shows people we go through a lot . We all go through things
I'm so sorry ❤
Hope you are healing
this has been one of the few performances ive watched in my entire life that actually moved me to tears.
Wowwww!!! Best performance ever at The Oscars!!!
Molestation, and multiple rape survivor.. now suffering ptsd, panic disorder and agoraphobia... finally a song that says what I wish I could.
watching this now, really hurts...
UNA DE LAS MEJORES INTERPRETACIONES Y PRESENTACIONES DE LADY GAGA
I cry everytime. I love u gaga
As Russian whos live in Russiaa, im felling like hostage, hope to see gaga again, sorry for my bad English, i try to learn it❤
Imagine living in Ukraine or Gaza and having to be afraid of bombing everyday. The other side are always being fed with propaganda so I don’t blame you.
As a child sexual abuse victim, this really gets me. The song and the emotions just reminds me to that moment at the hospital when i abused by a doctor. This is insane but makes me stronger.
She deserves everything that she has worked for. She is truly gifted.
God Job Gaga! You've always been misunderstood. I think people finally understood who you really are
This performance and song are so beautiful.
This is so touching. ❤ Would you mind sharing anything she said to you?
As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and trauma, it’s true - no one has any idea what we live with. Every day.
This song is our anthem.
You are so strong and brave 💜. You deserve hapiness, you deserve to live without fear and pain, you deserve the best. I hope you are ok, if not remember that you are amazing, sending you my love 💜.
@@onthiscouncilbutnotasajedi2000 That was kind of you. Thank you for the support.
@@alanolson6913 Keep fighting and keep dreaming, you have this! 💜
Toda vez que eu assisto essa performance, sinto a emoção da Gaga cantando 😭💓
Ela se tornou a maior intérprete dessa geração
I will NEVER know how this didn't win best song.
The real winner of that night. So powerful, meaningful and important song
I remember when I first saw this when it was live. I cried so hard
Esta canción, merecía el Oscar... 🥺
