Soral Trading asks, “Why is no one talking about dead celestials at the sea in the recent MCU movies?” Well for one thing, maybe they are and it just happens off screen. For another, think about how much weird stuff is happening in our world, right now, that you don’t always talk about in casual conversation. Two years ago, the Los Angeles Angels played a baseball game under an orange sky in front of cardboard people. Yet, we don’t talk about it. Now imagine what it must be like living in the MCU, where the extraordinary became ordinary.
Plus, the news at the end of the Eternals made it clear that the general public had no idea this thing was a celestial.
Toby on Twitter has another good question, “If Heimdall is in Valhalla, how come we didn’t see him “dust” away like Odin or Jane?” Good question, and the same also applies to Loki, Frigga, these Asgardian soldiers, the Valkyries, that guy, that guy, and that guy. Plus all these dead people. It’s funny, these are also like the fan questions we got in the Phantom Menace, when people were wondering why Qui Gon didn’t fade away. I think the answer is similar. It wasn’t in the screenplay.
But remember, Odin did not die in battle. And yet, he transformed into Valhalla dust like Jane-so presumably, he is in Valhalla as well.
I think this is because Odin was always going to go to Vahalla, no matter what. Maybe because he was king, or because he had the Odin Force.
What’s the odin force?
It’s this powerful cosmic magic that Odin has. It’s why he had to take a nap to recharge in Thor 1. So that’s why he got sleepy!
Exactly.
So Odin was always going to Valhalla. Odin enchanted the hammer to attach it to Thor. I think this also guaranteed Thor a place in Valhalla, because Odin said he was worthy. And Thor passes this same worthy enchantment onto Jane. Because Jane dies defending Asgard, she is allowed to transcend her mortal form and enter Valhalla.
Tank engine asks, “I don't know if that counts as a plot hole but it's just something I asked myself during the movie. Why did Stormbreaker have its own personality and Mjolnir didn't?” Well, it could be because Stormbreaker was created from a living thing-Groot’s arm. And we’ve already seen that a piece of a Groot can come alive as a new Groot. So maybe the wood still has some sentience.
I think it’s more because the hammer is a conduit for Thor's emotions, that he can’t express himself-just like how it’s a conduit. Also, Mjolnir definitely has a personality-it has chosen to be with Jane, and won’t return to Thor.
I can barely swim asks, “Also does Stormbreaker not have a worthiness requirement because it seems like everyone and their mom was able to hold it in this movie (although I guess Odin specifically enchanted Mjolnir for worthiness but Stormbreaker was just forged? but now anyone can summon the bifrost?).
Great questions. One, Stormbreaker has never had a worthiness enchantment. Mjolnir didn’t either, until Odin gave it one. We even see Thanos use Stormbreaker in Endgame.
Two, Odin’s worthiness spell on Mjolnir was broken when he died. That’s why Hela could hold it. And Cap was worthy to use the hammer because that hammer was from 2013-and it was still enchanted. And as for the bifrost, any being who is powerful enough to use Stormbreaker can summon the bifrost.In this movie we see Thor, Axl, and Gorr use the bifrost, and they’re all very powerful beings.
Grant Hudson asks, “How come Gorr can kill the other gods but not thor is thor not a god.” because thor is a badass, and very hard to kill.
At Salts Pepper asks, “How does Korg have 2 dads, a mom and a mom's boyfriend that he hates? How do Kronan family units work?” Well, we have no idea. Maybe Kronan males create male children, which are then raised by the females. Korg would have hated his mom’s boyfriend because he is a poor replacement for his two dads.
I think it’s important that we not get too hung up on the specifics of Kronan reproduction, and make them conform to the preconceived gender norms of western society.

The battle was still going on all the way up until love was reincarnated it just changed from a battle of fists swords and axes and hammers to a war and battle of words and the hearts so she did die in battle
I think the Odin was still in battle as well he was keeping his evil daughter at Bay at all times you lost the battle therefore he went to Valhalla it was a mental battle

I don't believe Odin's enchantment for "worthiness" was broken when he died. I think Hela could break it because she is more powerful than Odin's magic. The shards of Mjnolnir were still where they fell, implying they couldn't be moved from the grassy spot.
Are you forgetting the fact that mjolnir used to belong to Hela?
I was wondering if he missed that too. In the movie they clearly said they couldn't move it, so they built the dome over the pieces.

Why didn't Gorr get more screen time?
Because the movie is about Thor. Not every villain gets the thanos and killmonger treatment. Gorr motivates was explained earl in the movie.
Because they cut a lot of scene Gor and Jane scenes out of the movie. Studio executives will order producer to cut a movie down to 2 hours because they can make Moreno money per showing per day. 2 hour 30 minutes movie make Showing per day is 4 showing per screen whereas a 2 hour movie is 6 showing per screen per day
They cut like 3 hours of footage to make it shorter don't know why but it is what it is
There’s a couple of things they could have done that wouldn’t have added more than like 15 minutes. If Marvel didn’t want to show Gorr killing the Gods or mutilating himself, they could have shown him struggling after a kill. Having the life sucked out of him, to give more context of how he’s dying, and the sword whispering to him who to kill next. Or they could have gone a completely different direction - make him get angrier with each kill. Lose something about himself. Showing that actions have consequences makes for a compelling story. Having a phenomenal actor such as Christian Bale allows for a movie to do this. He’s done it before. Marvel already started getting better villains (Wenwu in Shang-chi). Don’t act like Gorr didn’t deserve more screen time.

I don’t think the guards they defeated in Omnipotence City are actually gods. They appear to be the kind of golden automotons (robots) Hephaestus was always forging in Greek mythology.

I assumed they were something similar to that as well. But the did have golden blood, similar to the first god that Gore killed. So who knows…
perhaps they got wounded, like .Zues., but did not actually die...
You make this mistake twice. "Odin didn't die in battle" which is wrong. Not all battles are with swords, axes and hammers, especially when you're dealing with the odin force. He flat out says that he's been using his power to contain hela, who's been fighting him for her freedom for years and he's finally too weak to contain her. He dies, she portal's out. He died in battle, it just wasn't an obvious battle.
As I've said though, I'm not sure how 'nice' valhalla would be, given you just know that it would be nothing but Odin, Hela and Loki all sniping at each other trying to make each other miserable.

The Odin force still exists in thor. Hela can hold Mjolnir because it was her weapon BEFORE Thor. Also at the end of this movie thor gives gorrs daughter stormbreaker to use in battle because she’s not worthy to hold Mjolnir, so by default she had to use stormbreaker. Even earlier in the film Thor raises Mjolnir up to hand it to Jane and says “just checking” to make sure he’s even still worthy, which he was and was happy about it.
and right before jane gets chosen by mjolnir the tour guide said the hammer pieces were unmovable.

Actually, it's possible that Gorr's daughter is able to pick up Mjolnir because when Thor was looking for it, she had drawn things on it.
It is implied that she moved it from it's original place by the fact that Thor couldn't find it initially and only finds ut when she tells him where it is, with all the drawings.
@@Shyny_Yordy she never lifted the hammer. She only drew on the face up side. If anyone could lift the hammer that would grant anyone the power of Thor. Like the above comment said, they had to dig out the ground around Mjolnir for the shrine because the pieces are immoveable.. Also for further evidence in a deleted scene from Ragnorok when hela kills Odin in the alley, he clearly states he was transferring all of his power into Thor. So all of odins magic is still a thing, the Odin force lives in Thor.. I don’t think Thor even knows what he’s capable of fully yet…
I thought the hammer still had the worthiness enchantment on it after Odin died - I never thought hella was ‘lifting’ the hammer, but really just stopping it in its path - probably a technicality, but Thor does lift Mjolnir (sp?) in Love & Thunder and says, “just checking” which I thought implied that the worthiness requirement was still active 🤷♂️
Also if the enchantment was lifted after Odin's death, the pieces of Mjolnir would be easily picked up. Instead they have to build a monument around it on the ground and dig around the pieces. If it lost it's enchantment when Odin died, they could have easily moved it to a museum instead of keeping it in the same spot where it fell.
My theory on the Cancer is since Jane was already at stage 4 before they discovered it, and as Dr. Selvig confirmed, none of the treatments were working, she was going to die anyway so really the hammer wasn't "killing" her so much as accelerating what was going to happen. She even mentions in the movie that she's rather live like Thor and help people rather than be sick in a bed. In the comics it was different, but in the comics the had years to explore the story arc, not under two hours with screaming goats getting as much screen time as Jane and Gorr. ;)
I don’t get this or why this was a question. The movie explained it, the hammer destroys all that is bad for the body. Chemo actually is poison, but it’s our only method of fighting cancer at the moment as it’s better to kill of the cancer & slowly poison a person than have the cancer take over. So the hammer destroyed the chemo, that simple.
@@davidd.3555 yes, but in the comics she had a chance at recovery when she became Thor, so using the hammer was "killing" her. In the movie, none of the treatments are working at all, so the idea that the hammer was "killing" her isn't so cut and dry. It might have accelerated her death but it wasn't changing the outcome.
@@andrewshandle the hammer gave her good health and strengthened her. Which probably means it was strengthening her cells. Cancer is the body creating rogue cell. It’s not a foreign body. So the hammer strengthened her cancer against the chemotherapy working to destroy her cells. That’s why she was getting so much weaker. The hammer couldn’t save her for that reason.
Completely agree! many people forget that that at the beggining of the movie we are told the treatments are not working.
@@ellatino55 no, no, no. That's not how chemo works...like, at all. There's not reason to make up all sorts of fake science when they not only explain it in the movie, they go into massive detail on it in the comics.
The hammer isn't "making the cancer stronger" it's eliminating the chemo treatment from the body (and all the non-chemo therapeutics she's taking as well). When you get cancer treatment it doesn't take effect _only_ during the time you are in the hospital, it continues to work, and depending on what type of treatment is its (like directed radiation treatment) it can literally kill cancer cells for over 18 months....but when she turns to Thor, all that stops as her new form eliminates the foreign bodies, and given how she's also using a lot of energy, transforming back into plain Jane is putting a crap of stress on her body that is no longer fighting cancer.
Given that the treatments aren't working at all in the movie _before_ she becomes Thor, she was already going to die, so it's really not a hard decision for her. She either becomes Thor, helps people and dies or she stays in a hospital bed and dies a few days or weeks later.
There's no reason to make it more complicated than it is.
Here's what I think:
Jane was able to get into Valhalla since she believed in Norse Mythology. Taweret in Moon Knight explained that the after life for each individual depends on their belief so Jane may not have been an Asgardian but she had faith in the Norse Gods.
Bingo. Valhalla is for those who believe in Norse mythology that die a warrior's death.
I think so. Same as a Jewish like Marc Spector and Layla's father, one who have met an Egyptian God, and one is a researcher who studied Egyptian gods. They both went to Egyptian afterlife.

Thors mother DID turn into dust tho, only after her funeral. It literally happened in Dark World, everybody forgets that lol. I think that plot hole of not seeing certain people turn into dust can be explained by that funeral. Sometimes it just doesn’t happen right away.

@@SpyJamz This might be a bit of a stretch but I believe this could because while she was dead, her soul had not been laid to rest yet. Oden was at peace and went freely to Valhalla which is why he turned right away. Frigga was killed in battle and it wasn’t until she was laid to rest at the funeral did she turn into dust. This also can apply to Jane because she had made peace with her death at the moment it happened, she went peacefully knowing Thor would still have Love in his life.
So yeah, there might not be too much evidence that supports my interpretation but that’s they way that I see it. It could’ve been better explained but I don’t think it’s a plot hole. Cause there is an explanation there but they didn’t explicitly say it.
Dark World is one of the lesser MCU Films for sure. Personally I find enjoyment in all the films to an extent. Some way better than others, but there are some great moments in Dark World that are often overlooked. But I think it’s still good. Though I am probably biased.

In Norse mythology, the Valkyries were the ones who took the souls of the fallen warriors to Valhalla. But in the MCU, Hela wiped out all the Valkyries except for Valkyrie who then retired from her duties. I guess after that happened, Odin and Heimdall put their heads together and came up with the gold-dust system?
16:00 The contradiction between Mjolnir giving someone good health, but killing her: That's the thing about cancer. It's not some foreign pathogen like bacteria. It's YOU. It's just your own tissue reproducing out of control and sucking resources out of surrounding tissues to do so. So Mjolnir making her stronger could have been making her cancer stronger as well, thus killing her faster.
They say it in the film - Mjolnir is keeping Jane in “good health” as best it can, but that means it is removing the toxic chemo from her body, and not the cancer. All her chemo treatments keep getting neutralized because Mjolnir sees the toxins as a danger to her health.
Thats a good explanation i thought was since she was mortal so maybe its to powerful for her or because its broken because maybe it has the opposite effect
So many “plot holes” are just people not paying attention or assuming characters know what we know. Thank you for always providing great content and not being one of those channels that just craps on everything.
Yeah, a problem with the MCU is that we, as viewers, are almost omniscients, we know a lot of things that the characters ignore
4:20 No, the worthiness enchantment was not broken. In Love and Thunder the tour guide even mentions that the pieces of Mjolnir were immovable. Hela didn't "hold" Mjolnir. She simply halted its forward progress to her then crushed it.
I don't think Odin goes to Valhalla because he gets to control it.
Couldn't it be that him keeping Hela away was what made him go to Valhalla?
Because he technically did die on the battlefield, just a very different battle than what we´re normally used to

Why did Gorr bring back his daughter since previously in the movie he said "My daughter was the lucky one. She did not have to grow up in a world of suffering and pain, runner by wicked gods" so he wanted his daughter to live in a god-free world right?

Also Thor's idea that you must die in battle to go to Valhalla might just be an Asguardian believe but not actually true - just like for human religions such as Christianity they believe all sorts of ways to go to heaven but nobody ever "comes back" to actually confirm that is actually THE method. So not a plot hole.
I get what your saying but it really only would apply to loosely armchair 'merican Christianity. Most would still agree repentance and belief in Jesus are the way to heaven.
@@kthereturned2874 who even has evidence that belief is even the only true one? no one does, which is the point. And FWIW it applies to all religion which deals with after life. A quick pro-tip: nobody had actually ever came back from the dead in ANY religious beliefs, it's just stuff that gets written down in books or passed down via word of mouth.
I'm pretty sure Gorr was at the threshold of death the whole movie, and the minute the necrosword was broken, his death finally could happen. He had been waiting for that death.

Pretty sure that when Jane uses Mjolnir it heals her dead cancer cells as cancer is a part of her. So when she goes back to being a mortal being it’s like it just reversed all progress chemo could’ve done for her.
Yeah makes sense from a scientific perspective....but it is a famtasy film though
11:50 I think this one is easier. We saw during a flashback, Thor whisper to Mjolnir to keep Jane safe, the hammer glows with the same symbol that showed when Odin enchanted it with the "if he be worthy" limitation. I took that to mean that during that flashback, which would have taken place after Thor 2 or Age of Ultron, he layered an additional enchantment onto the hammer, and probably did so in a less refined manner than his father. This is why Jane can reform the hammer, but also gets Thor's armor, cape, hair and so on. We never see someone else use Mjolnir after Age of Ultron, until this movie. The Mjolnir in End Game is a time-displaced copy from the events of Thor 2. It being shattered may also explain why its power is ultimately causing Jane harm, the various magics woven onto it are incomplete, and so things aren't operating the way they should.

@Matt Mazar agreed, but as I understand it he killed etri in that scene but I dont know why it was cut. Maybe they wanted to keep the character in the universe.
Great explanations, I like the Thanos one. Kind of like adventure time, where prizmo grants wishes but it has to be VERY SPECIFIC, thanos is a control freak that wouldn’t allow for any wiggle room. Plus he didn’t have the axe. The bi-frost was on Asgard, how the hell would he bring that with him to the center of the universe.

In the comics Jane is reborn as a Valkyrie after dying of cancer and going to Valhalla ,I’m pretty sure they’re going on the same route !

I feel like Mjolnir isn’t leaving Jane due to a command rather. In one scene, Thor commanded that Mjolnir always make sure Jane is protected or safe or taken care of (I don’t remember the exact wording).
And mjolnir alert her when she don't have other option ,she felt down,unsafe and thats why she lift mjolnir, in my opinion

When Gorr was in the oasis and stumbling on the ground, he inadvertently cut his hand on the Necrosword, but his wound healed. What was the significance of that or reason?
I think that it’s because it had already chosen Gorr to wield it at that point and healed his hand before he claimed it, since it whispered for him in the first place
The Necrosword is the first symbiote created by a being called Knull

My guess is that only warriors who die in battle go to Valhalla whereas Gods just get a free pass. That is why Odin and Jane (basically a Thor) were dusted while the others had to be killed in battle to go to Valhalla.

No, here's one people can't answer. If Thor can actually power up others with Zeus bolt then why the hell didn't he do that on the black and white planet? It would saved Val from being stabbed and they could have beat Gorr much earlier.

Actually, The doctor in the movie says that the thor force was making her cancer worse. Every time she used mjolnir the thor force power made her cancer stronger so it ate away at her body faster. This is directly adapted from the comics except in the comics Jane chooses to stop wielding mjolnir and becomes a valkyrie after she achieved cancer remission. They could also have ended the film that way. Yes I know the Hela killed all the Valkyrie except for Valkyrie (which by the way, its kind of silly that the marvel studios calls her Valkyrie when in the comics that is the name of the regiment of female Pegasus cavalry not a hero; they should give her a proper Asgardian name) but all Valkyrie and Jane would have to do is train more Asgardian women to become Valkyrie. Killing Jane off and sending her to Valhalla simply because Valkyrie is a one woman cavalry now seems like such a waste compared to the better future the comics gave Jane.

Because Dr. Eric Selvig went mad(for some time) after having Loki in his mind. Like it was said, "having a god in your head has consequences." or somewhere along those lines.
I got some stuff to say, to start:
- Gorr the God Butcher is nowhere near like the Gorr on the Comics (even physically not alike) , and I know it doesn't have to be the same but on the comics Gorr is a BEAST, it is even more feared than Thanos by the Gods. it is truly is a menace, he even kills Thor on the comics, it takes even a Future Old Thor plus 2 more Thor's to kill Gorr but here... it doesn't even look physically close to the comics, its a Joke basically (not talking about Bale's performance ok!)
- There is a point in the movie were Jane tells Thor to go grab the Axe and she'll hold of Gorr and not to worry about it...
Really ? no big deal right ? so she solos Gorr.
- The All-Black is not a sword... this was by far the most stupid thing I feel, it does not look like a regular bronze or steel sword from Greece, I mean come on ! and that "Sword" is completely OP!!! in this movie you don't get to see that, at all !
- Putting that aside, Thor... giving kids the power to be like him, although its kind of cool to watch how he can pass down his powers through an enchantment like Odin, its dumb that he doesn't enchant the Axe to be the only one who can wield it and then the kids run off killing the monsters like nobodies business.
- The way everyone handles Zeus's bolt... like its a Pen they borrow, even Gorr grabs it like a regular stick and stabs Valkyrie with it, no biggie.
- Zeus mentions that he fears Gorr and they "beat" him like no problem and destroy an indestructible weapon, the All-Black can't be destroyed !
- The little girl, how she handles Storm breaker like its a piece of paper is just out of this world, sure you could argue that she has powers from the Eternity but still, its a heavy a*s Axe, you can see when Gorr took it, he was dragging the axe on the floor of how heavy it is.
- The comical aspect of the movie, I feel they've gone too far and missed a HUGE opportunity to make a SUPER incredible movie, they took it to a point were its dumb, really dumb, Thor seams dumb, even Zeus mentions that they look like clowns and they do, I know this might be intentional and meant to change in Thor 5 when Hercules arrives BUT putting the other facts I mention before, its not likely that this "Fun" aspect of the movie, was intentional at all.
**Everything I mention is not Hate per say, I'm a HUGE fan and that's why I'm very disappointed on this movie, its not what I expected as a fan that reads the comics and know the true potential of the characters here, there's more but I think this is enough, again, some of this stuff are FACTS and others my opinion.**

That's why Thor wanted her to stay back on earth to actually try and heal instead of using the hammer knowing it would be her last time using it. She chose to be a hero regardless.

- I hope you read this Ryan Arey... In the context of the film, and not just because the plot wills it so, what would be the reason why the Necro Sword showed Gorr Eternity and his whole deal? The sword has a form of sentience, especially if you go by the comic book version, so what would be the benefit for the sword to show a mortal this knowledge?
It’s probably to show whoever wielded it (Gorr in this case) the end goal to finish all the gods like it wanted to do

You need to forget the comics, they're not going to touch the the comic book version of the sword in the MCU because of Sony. In the movie, the sword wanted all gods dead, and so it showed Gorr how to do it...and frankly, he came within a whisker of doing it which was better than the Necro Sword's old host did.
I fully agree with you about Stormbreaker's "personality" merely reflecting Thor's inner mindspace. And I also think it applies to Mjolnir. Yes, he wants it and Jane back. Imo heavily implied that he wants the hammer back because of the nostalgia factor and being able to carry it with worthiness enchantment would soften his inner feelings "at least I am still worthy". At the same time, he knows he has Stormbreaker, Jane picked up and is doing good use of it, she needs it to be this powerful, and it would benefit just about everyone else having her join the ranks of the heroes. He kows the right thing to do is to share and possibly let go, after all Jane is free to not be with him if she doesn't want. It is a little left over of his earlier selfish/self centred/arrogant days making that pesky comeback when he is feeling down and lost, old habbits die hard. It is a superficial vestige, he knows what is right, but it is there. So Mjolnir is just reflecting what Thor knows to be right and doing what is right, while Stormbreaker is simply responding to Thor's knowledge he (at the times the hiccups happened) doesn't need Mjolnir or Zeus' bolt and his friends and partners need those weapons far more as he already has one on top of already being incredibly powerful even with no weapon.
And yes, I do believe Odin's enchantment still applies even after it was broken, hence no one being able to move it. Hella held it and broke it because in the MCU she was the original user of that hammer, and also she is OP enough to counter Odin's magical childlock spell on Thor's tool.

Hey Ryan. My biggest question is actually from Infinity War. It's something that is ALWAYS overlooked. It's supposed that half the Asgardians made it to earth however, when Thanos kills Loki and Thor is released he destroys Thor's ship completely using the power stone before he uses the space stone to teleport the squad....How in the hell did any Asgardians make it from the ship to earth it makes no sense....Thor is floating away in space before the Guardians find him and his planet is vaporized so to me there should be no Asgardians left to populate new asgard. Many afterlife exists, afterlives are shaped in accordance to the person's beliefs and their afterlife is shaped because of it.
I can somewhat understand why Tiamut is not talked about in other movies, but i can't understand why people don't talk about the giant celestial who appeared for 10 seconds and kidnapped 4 people in front of half the planet. The book about Viking's and Asgardians also mentions that it Purges any toxins from the user (You can even see it briefly on the page that Jane is reading) but she overlooks that part. This is what happened to her in the comics. It purged the treatments from her bloodstream, thus inhibiting her ability to heal.

I was confused as to why Thor used Storm Breaker to travel back to New Asgard while they were in the Shadow Realm after knowing the bifrost is the key to getting to Eternity and after having another way to get to New Asgard (Zeus's lightning bolt that Valkyrie had).

Part of your answer for Mjonir and worthiness doesn’t work with one line of dialogue in this movie where Thor picks up the hammer while it’s sitting on that barrel and he says he was just checking, which is clearly him checking his worthiness which means even though Odin is gone, this hammer still needs worthiness
I think one of the things that is being overlooked is how much Taika Waititi (the director) foreshadows plot elements. One of the plot devices I see people complaining about is the 'travel' system, ie Stormbreaker, Zues's Bolt and even the Pegasis (maybe even Mjolnir, MAYBE). At the beginning of the film Jane wakes up and is sitting next to a young man reading her book. This bit of movie science is to remind us all that Jane is a genius level scientist but ALSO the science she is explaining is specificially dealing with space travel and even more specifically, why the films Interstellar and Event Horizon explain punching a whole in the universe allowing for instant travel. The explination deals with light, Zeus's bolt is light, Stormbreaker is using the light of the Bifrost and I think, with how Mjolnir has been explained in comics, it may too be capable of light speed instant travel. Remember: technically speaking, Mjolnir stays still and the universe moves around IT.

The enchantment strengthens her ENTIRE BODY. At includes the cancer. So she has thor cancer when shes Mighty Thor. And since she doesnt have asgardian physiology to fight it off, it continued as though she were human, but with the added negative of removing her chemo.
