Wheels thru time is awesome. The history and displays that are there are great. All of the staff wonderful and share a wealth of information. I have visited two times in the last 3 years and will visit in the future.
It looked like it would be interesting to visit. Unfortunately no cameras allowed inside and we were pressed for time during this visit. Maybe next time. Thanks for watching! 🙂
@@FloridaandBeyondI find it hard to believe that cameras are not allowed inside.. Maybe that has changed because I see not only videos from inside but pictures as well. Visiting in May so I know going in that they are open Thursday to Sunday from April (of this year)
@charliefromnh7631 from their website about commercial photography, which UA-cam is considered if you make even a penny off the video, Photography is permitted for private, non-commercial use only. Photographs may NOT be published, sold, reproduced, distributed, or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner." They also have rules about regular photography, but that is allowed. Here is the link. The place looked like a lot of fun! wheelsthroughtime.com/museum/ Have fun on your visit!
Great video on Maggie! I live here and love it! That relaxing creek is Johnathan's Creek. I'm glad that you guys focused a lot on the western side of Soco Rd. I feel like that area doesn't get the attention it deserves. I'd like to recommend The Mountaineer Restaurant for breakfast or lunch if you're on that edge of town, just before the Soco Tower. Often times, it gets overlooked because of it's location, but the views are amazing along with a pleasant country vibe, food and service. Joey's Pancake House is definitely a local treasure. I'm guessing you came by on a Wednesday when they are closed. I would also add that anyone visiting Maggie Valley go to Waterrock Knob for the views, sunset or for some hiking. Maggie's Sandwich Shop is consistently excellent and Cabbage Rose is a great shop that isn't heavy on the antiques, but they do have an incredible Christmas section. I'd highly recommend renting a slingshot to drive around the beautiful Smoky Mountains or Blue Ridge Parkway. Lastly, no worries about the Elevated Distillery. Ken Wells from Key West, FL won the bid on it a few days ago and he plans on leasing the property to another distiller. However, things aren't looking that good for Ghost Town. The developer Frankie Wood's plan have fallen short of becoming a reality, so the village will remain empty for the time being.
Our next video we visit a few of the restaurants there. We love Maggie Valley too. We have been visiting since 2001. Both our boys were babies on their first trip. The views are incredible and we love the small town feel. The people are so nice too. Glad to hear about the Distillery but sad about Ghost Town. Thanks for watching our video and all the suggestions! We hope there will be better times for this small town.
I'm a local and I can't stand all the tourists they don't know how to drive you hear that all kinds of places but we have so many out of state plates from different places and the leaf Lookers are going to be coming next month and in about 7 weeks 4 to 7 weeks of nightmares
,so true the Mountaineer Restaurant was so good breakfast, we decided to stop there and eat before going to the mountains because everything was so full that Saturday morning in Maggie Valley area
Wheels through time motorcycle museum is on my bucket list. They have a Utube channel with some of the bikes they will be restoring,Have restored to original and are very rare. This place is worth the price of admission for sure.It looks like this is a place i could spend a couple days at relaxing.
Maggie Valley is a great little place to visit for relaxing! Definitely check out the museum. They also have a bunch of restaurants. You can do a day trip to Cherokee. Also, check out the falls. We love that area of North Carolina!
Thanks for the Links and the information on the cameras and equipment you used in the video. Just got started with a GoPro 11 and Sony zv-e10 camera and it helps to see videos made with similar equipment.
So are newer videos are with the zv-e10. These videos were shot with the A6400. We love the newer GoPros. Our newer videos were shot with the kit lens, but we recently upgraded to the Sony SELP1020G E PZ 10-20mm F4 G APS-C . It works beautifully with zv-e10. It will probably be another month before the videos we made with it will come out. Good luck with the new camera!
We looked for pictures of Mike but unfortunately could not find any on the lift. I never got to visit Ghost Town 😢. Mike tells me about it every time we are in Maggie Valley. It sounded like a fun kitschy place!
I felt the same way about the parking but it was worth the view. The soco gift up the road said they want to make a path to it one day. They had good parking just kind of far to walk on the side of the road. I hope they are able to build all their dreams there. It sounded really nice!:
We live in Fla but have a vacation home in CLYDE and have been to Ghost town when my kids were small. The last time we went one of the skyline cable, lifts broke with one woman falling about a week before we went. I'm not sure if she survived or not. I said never again. Everything looked very run down, come to find out they weren't even having inspections at the time, the rides were very unsafe. I do wish they would open another theme park there, that was clean and safe, something like BUSCH GARDENS like we have in Tampa. Or a SIX FLAGS.
Yes, there was less regulation in the past. It would be nice if they reopened something in that spot. It would revitalize the town. We have visited this area many times over the years. The people have always been so friendly. It is worth just visiting and eating food. Thanks for watching! 🙂
It is a small town which means a slower pace of life. We had fun that day driving around and exploring. It has hit some hard times unfortunately as all small towns have. The cabins there are awesome for family stays. I would recommend checking out the Bearwater brewing company, Wheels Through Time, Soco falls, and Soco Crafts (tower) at least. The best part of town is all the restaurants. There is a lot to eat there. Now if someone would reopen Ghost in the Sky it would be perfect lol.
From what everyone says the Great Smoky Mountains has a lot of Elk. We did not see any. Our neighbor in Maggie Valley said there was Elk there too. We must have missed them all on our trip. Visit the Oconaluftee Visitor Center which is where we were told they would be.
We have been hearing that a lot from people. It had been 14 years since we had visited that area. It seemed exactly the same. Unfortunately I do not think covid helped the area either as we noticed a few businesses gone. It is still worth a visit as the people are friendly, it has beautiful views, and lots of different places to enjoy a meal. Thanks for watching!
@@FloridaandBeyond yes, but when I was a child in 68, Maggie Valley, GT, Cherokee was the place to be. I go to the Smokies regularly, when I saw "Unto these Hills" the first time, it was crowded, and the theater was full. My wife had never seen it before, and I took her about 2019. It was about a third full. Just as an example and the last time I went to Dollywood, it was called Silver Dollar City. LOL
@Outdoor life It must have been amazing seeing the area in 68! People took more road trips back then and explored small towns. We are always looking for small things to do.
@@FloridaandBeyond It was, if you are in Waynesville, go to a restaurant called Bogarts, it is downtown. They have great food. An appetizer that I like it hot fried pork skins with Texas Pete, it GOOD. Yea I am old, I carried my kids to GT.
When I skip through a video to 6 different places and see selfies, I think "is this about xyz (Maggie Valley) or are they wasting my time with their selfies?" Skip this one on to the next, it's too much about themselvesies.
We weren't taking selfies throughout the whole video. We were giving info about the town. You do realize this is our adventures so we would be in the video. You should maybe watch the video instead of skipping through if you are going to critique it. Have a great afternoon!
Spent my honeymoon there. When they had the cabins above the golf course. Beautiful!
@@JoyGardner-v2i we have been going for over 20 years and love this little town! I hope they find a way to bring it back to life!
