I've found that that after trying different combinations of version for updating the Map data on my 2019 Seat, that i had to use the original "OVERALL.NDS" from when i originally got the car before i did any other updates before this time. It didn't work with the file from the update i did in 2022 but it did work with the one date June 2018. Thank you! Your video helped fix my maps after trial and error.

Hi Javito, I'm trying to update the navigation of my Seat Ibiza FR 10-2018, but it first says "SD card 1: The source contains the navigation database". After that it says: "Checking navigation data..." just as your video does. But it keep staying at this screen. Nothing further happens. Will it be resolved after pasting the old data in the new folder? By the way, you're living near to me:)
My unit seemd to update the firmware correct. But after the second reboot. The unit is stuck on the Seat bootscreen for over 40 minits. Do you know how to recover this?

It is actually a very good question! I once called SEAT about the maps and they said the technician would do the job and that they actually don't know. I understand if they picked up the phone from the sales side. But, in the website is so simple to add the simple trick of leaving "the" file in place...Perhaps WE are doing it wrong?! Hey! I am super happy that you found this video useful! First of all, I believe the changes between 514 and 516 are minor. We as users are not really able to notice the difference. I must say that from 479 to 5xx my unit suffers from less freezing events (I had to restart the whole unit every time). Perhaps we are talking about the same issue? I think if version 514 works so well as you mentioned in your car, just leave it as is. On a separate note, I just installed 516 (video soon!) and it works as well as 515. I could see that there were minimal upgrades in CPU.main files (maybe for efficiency?). Anyway, keep me posted if you have any issue =)
@@javitobosch mine acts jumpy if im zooming in and out for example in the maps, that is why im not sure if the software would solve this issue as it seems like the touch capacitor in these cars are a bit old. Total freeze happens every 3 weeks or so. I think ill give the update a shot, but do u know if there is anyway of backing it up if everything goes south? looking forward to your video update 🙌🏻 thanks again, cheers from Leiden!
quick update:did the update and it took like 15-20 mins, as u said i did not notice any difference. Thanks man you are a genius!! -on another note though: i updated also the navigation, it works perfectly but what i find weird is that after the update it doesnt start with 6p0 anymore it starts with V0 even though i nade sure i fownload the 6p0. cheers man!!

Hi! Not really. Do you have the older maps version still? If so, you can always download it again and reuse the OVERALL.NDS. I should work in theory, as the car should rewrite it according to the specific unit. Otherwise, try to ask for hel at the dealer. They should help you (for free)...

@@Hatchbacksnerd No problem! Did you make sure the infotainment system (hardware) corresponds with the file you downloaded? Also, when you insert the SD card, format should be FAT32 and should be inserted in slot 1, and no other hardware should be plugged in. Make sure that the SD card has only the update firmware files (unzipped if I remember well).
I have just bought a Seat Ibiza (2020) but I ave deleted all the contents of the original SD. I just noticed there is one file that needs to be copied from the original folder to the new on.e What if I deleted that file (which I did)? Can I get it from somewhere?
Yes, you should be able to download that very specific version of the maps you deleted (usually specified in the SD card sticker). From where? I honestly would start by googling it, because I believe there must be at least one forum keeping track of these things. There was another user in this thread with the same issue. Keep me posted!
@@javitobosch I tried to download the maps from Seat site and I unpacked it into the original SD card, but when I inserted the card in the car slot, and tried to read the SD card, it throw an error reading the SD card. Do you use Signal or any other chat app other than whatsapp? I don't use WhatsApp. Or how can I talk to pi directly?

Hey Chris McClintock! Thanks for your message! Let's see if I can help you. Have you placed the SD card in Slot 1 with ONLY the firmware files? The file should be unzipped if I remember well (I will be making a new and better video soon). As far as I know, you can also use a USB flash drive and even a CD (?!). Also, based on the message, perhaps the file is corrupted? Maybe downloading it again could solve the issue (maybe). Hey Marco! Good question! To be honest with you, I learned this trick because I erased all navigation data from the SD card the first time. I did not know what to do, so I decided to start by finding someone with the same problem online and I was lucky (www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/updating-the-inbuilt-mib2-satnav-mib2-tricks-and-lost-mib1-card-solution.388586/page-53). I checked the maps version that is shown in the SD card and/or in the infotainment system and also found someone with previous maps version online (no link, unfortunately I do not have it). I recovered it from there. Perhaps I could help you if you tell me your navigation version that is shown in the infotainment system and also if the SD card is showing some version too. Another thing you could do is to run a data-recovery program. The file is pretty small. Lastly, you could buy an original replacement from eBay. Good luck!
@Javito, thanks for the video! I have question: To update the firmware, can I use a regular usb stick (fat32 format?) ? Should the SD card in slot 1 (maps SD) and 2 be empty while updating? How exactly did you do it? Does Full Link still be functional after the update? Will Errors be shown, because it wasn't a "legit" update by Seat? I don't know if a update is necessary anyway for my Cupra.. My current version is: 0468 -> want to update: 0478 (05/2018 Cupra 300 4Drive) My hope is that the "sport information" HMI display will be fixed. Sometimes the shown indicators (for example water temp) are "freezed up" and will not be shown. After a restart they're back to life. This issue does not always happen. Hey gearloose! Thanks a lot for your message! As far as I remember, I used a SD card in Slot 1 ( I think this is the reference slot for the system) and I removed any other connected devices. You can always try from a USB stick and see if the car actually detects it as a valid device. The firmware update will not block the "extra packages" you have already installed in your car (e.g., sport HMI, Mirror Link) but it might solve glitches in them since they should be embedded in the update (or at least this is what sounds logical to me). Honestly, I did not see any difference when I updated mine. It was already on the 5xx version, so I did not expect big changes. Honestly, I think these firmware packages are "legit", otherwise I would have needed to patch my unit first. Version-wise, try with what you planned and if you feel confident go ahead and update to the 5xx version (if your hardware allows!). Nice car of yours...I am pretty sure you are enjoying/squeezing each of the 300hp XD. I have never had such issue, but what I had in the past is that when I am driving, the whole infotainment system decides to restart, so it freezes first and then after ~10min it restarts while driving. Sometimes I had to stop and switch off the engine, get off the car and lock/unlock it. This hasn't happened in a long while, so I attribute this to the latest update, but I might be wrong! i would understand if the HMI Sport freezes after a few hours driving due to overheat of the unit, overloaded RAM (if it has), or many processes being executed simultaneously (multimedia + BT + call + navigation + Car Play + HMI at the same time, to give you an example). I hope I am clear and greetings from the Dutch neighbourhood! 😉
@@javitobosch sorry, I forgot something.. What I saw and read was, after installing the firmware update, the error "confirmation of version change" occurs. With Vcds or Obd11 it can be deleted ("Mr-Fix" showed it). Did you delete yours? If not, does this error will be shown/pop up on the head unit or just when connected to vcds etc?
@@Testobesser92 hmmm...good one. Sorry for the late reply (very busy lately...) I like Mr-Fix! I do get an error on the maps update in OBD11 but is labelled as "green" (it is deleted by itself). Functionality is 100% OK, but never thought of actually taking care of it as it is displayed as "not important" although there was nothing there before... I will definitely take a look whenever I update to the next version. Thanks!!

Hey Mauro. I am pretty sure you are not an idiot =). We all make mistakes and learn from that. Actually, the first time I updated the maps in my car, I did exactly the same 😂, so there is a solution. You need to download the same maps version as the SD card originally came with. If that does not work, I would appreciate if you tell me the maps version that should be specified in the SD card, so I can help you further. Good luck!
Thanks heaps Javito! Your Navigation Update guide was a lifesaver. I was struggling till I copied the "OVERALL.NDS" file from the backup over the top of the new version on the SD card. Thank god I did a backup! Did you try the 0516 firmware yet? I have the same hardware as you in my 2020 Cupra Ateca. I'm wondering if its worth upgrading from 0514 to 0516?

@@stephanelacoux6711 I also updated from a 047X version before. No issues at all as long as you respect the recommendations! What I do get in OBD11 is that the unit reports a message that the firmware and the maps are "different", but it is "green" message (it gets cleared out automatically). A message for UK users? The link is not mine. I found it online! I am not the owner =) I have a DE Cupra, imported to NL. I always try to use the same stuff as I found in the car previously, so in this case European (EU). I believe that should be enough. Good luck, man!

Hey! I am super happy that you found this video useful! First of all, I believe the changes between 514 and 516 are minor. We as users are not really able to notice the difference. I must say that from 479 to 5xx my unit suffers from less freezing events (I had to restart the whole unit every time). Perhaps we are talking about the same issue? I think if version 514 works so well as you mentioned in your car, just leave it as is. On a separate note, I just installed 516 (video soon!) and it works as well as 515. I could see that there were minimal upgrades in CPU.main files (maybe for efficiency?). Anyway, keep me posted if you have any issue =)
@@javitobosch mine acts jumpy if im zooming in and out for example in the maps, that is why im not sure if the software would solve this issue as it seems like the touch capacitor in these cars are a bit old. Total freeze happens every 3 weeks or so. I think ill give the update a shot, but do u know if there is anyway of backing it up if everything goes south?

-on another note though: i updated also the navigation, it works perfectly but what i find weird is that after the update it doesnt start with 6p0 anymore it starts with V0 even though i nade sure i fownload the 6p0.

Hi! Not really. Do you have the older maps version still? If so, you can always download it again and reuse the OVERALL.NDS. I should work in theory, as the car should rewrite it according to the specific unit. Otherwise, try to ask for hel at the dealer. They should help you (for free)...

For navi system with HDD you can use any SD card. That navi use different maps (almost 30GB)

@@Hatchbacksnerd No problem! Did you make sure the infotainment system (hardware) corresponds with the file you downloaded? Also, when you insert the SD card, format should be FAT32 and should be inserted in slot 1, and no other hardware should be plugged in. Make sure that the SD card has only the update firmware files (unzipped if I remember well).

I have just bought a Seat Ibiza (2020) but I ave deleted all the contents of the original SD. I just noticed there is one file that needs to be copied from the original folder to the new on.e What if I deleted that file (which I did)? Can I get it from somewhere?
Yes, you should be able to download that very specific version of the maps you deleted (usually specified in the SD card sticker). From where? I honestly would start by googling it, because I believe there must be at least one forum keeping track of these things. There was another user in this thread with the same issue. Keep me posted!
@@javitobosch I tried to download the maps from Seat site and I unpacked it into the original SD card, but when I inserted the card in the car slot, and tried to read the SD card, it throw an error reading the SD card. Do you use Signal or any other chat app other than whatsapp? I don't use WhatsApp. Or how can I talk to pi directly?

Hey Chris McClintock! Thanks for your message! Let's see if I can help you. Have you placed the SD card in Slot 1 with ONLY the firmware files? The file should be unzipped if I remember well (I will be making a new and better video soon). As far as I know, you can also use a USB flash drive and even a CD (?!). Also, based on the message, perhaps the file is corrupted? Maybe downloading it again could solve the issue (maybe). Hey Marco! Good question! To be honest with you, I learned this trick because I erased all navigation data from the SD card the first time. I did not know what to do, so I decided to start by finding someone with the same problem online and I was lucky (www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/updating-the-inbuilt-mib2-satnav-mib2-tricks-and-lost-mib1-card-solution.388586/page-53). I checked the maps version that is shown in the SD card and/or in the infotainment system and also found someone with previous maps version online (no link, unfortunately I do not have it). I recovered it from there. Perhaps I could help you if you tell me your navigation version that is shown in the infotainment system and also if the SD card is showing some version too. Another thing you could do is to run a data-recovery program. The file is pretty small. Lastly, you could buy an original replacement from eBay. Good luck!

My hope is that the "sport information" HMI display will be fixed. Sometimes the shown indicators (for example water temp) are "freezed up" and will not be shown. After a restart they're back to life. This issue does not always happen. Did you perhaps experienced those issues as well?

Hey gearloose! Thanks a lot for your message! As far as I remember, I used a SD card in Slot 1 ( I think this is the reference slot for the system) and I removed any other connected devices. You can always try from a USB stick and see if the car actually detects it as a valid device.
The firmware update will not block the "extra packages" you have already installed in your car (e.g., sport HMI, Mirror Link) but it might solve glitches in them since they should be embedded in the update (or at least this is what sounds logical to me). Honestly, I did not see any difference when I updated mine. It was already on the 5xx version, so I did not expect big changes.
Honestly, I think these firmware packages are "legit", otherwise I would have needed to patch my unit first.
Version-wise, try with what you planned and if you feel confident go ahead and update to the 5xx version (if your hardware allows!). Nice car of yours...I am pretty sure you are enjoying/squeezing each of the 300hp XD.
I have never had such issue, but what I had in the past is that when I am driving, the whole infotainment system decides to restart, so it freezes first and then after ~10min it restarts while driving. Sometimes I had to stop and switch off the engine, get off the car and lock/unlock it. This hasn't happened in a long while, so I attribute this to the latest update, but I might be wrong!
i would understand if the HMI Sport freezes after a few hours driving due to overheat of the unit, overloaded RAM (if it has), or many processes being executed simultaneously (multimedia + BT + call + navigation + Car Play + HMI at the same time, to give you an example).

@@javitobosch sorry, I forgot something.. What I saw and read was, after installing the firmware update, the error "confirmation of version change" occurs. With Vcds or Obd11 it can be deleted ("Mr-Fix" showed it). Did you delete yours? If not, does this error will be shown/pop up on the head unit or just when connected to vcds etc?
@@Testobesser92 hmmm...good one. Sorry for the late reply (very busy lately...) I like Mr-Fix! I do get an error on the maps update in OBD11 but is labelled as "green" (it is deleted by itself). Functionality is 100% OK, but never thought of actually taking care of it as it is displayed as "not important" although there was nothing there before... I will definitely take a look whenever I update to the next version. Thanks!!

Hey Mauro. I am pretty sure you are not an idiot =). We all make mistakes and learn from that. Actually, the first time I updated the maps in my car, I did exactly the same 😂, so there is a solution. You need to download the same maps version as the SD card originally came with. If that does not work, I would appreciate if you tell me the maps version that should be specified in the SD card, so I can help you further. Good luck!
Thanks heaps Javito! Your Navigation Update guide was a lifesaver. I was struggling till I copied the "OVERALL.NDS" file from the backup over the top of the new version on the SD card. @@stephanelacoux6711 I also updated from a 047X version before. No issues at all as long as you respect the recommendations! What I do get in OBD11 is that the unit reports a message that the firmware and the maps are "different", but it is "green" message (it gets cleared out automatically). A message for UK users? The link is not mine. I found it online! I am not the owner =) I have a DE Cupra, imported to NL. I always try to use the same stuff as I found in the car previously, so in this case European (EU). I believe that should be enough. Good luck, man!
