- A famed group among headbanging historians, Saxon are here at Hellfest to conquer new lands while consolidating the old guard. Despite a solid legacy of influencing everyone from Dream Theater to Slayer, Saxon have never let up and continue to release new material at an astonishing pace.

man... when a 70 year old, after a 40+ year career sings better than most of the "modern" singers. No auto-tune, no backing tracks, just a few dudes and their instruments... bravo...
Exactly. Wont get stuff like this at glastonbury
@@PeaveyPV20 You're right Glastonbury has ';souled their soul; to current pop trash suck!
what "modern" singers do you refer to, exactly
@@ovideo-p5b anyone that without auto-tune would be out a job! That involves a wide sample of artists if you ask me. And btw let me tell you, I am not even a fan of Saxon. But just because I don't connect with the band doesn't mean I can't appreciate the incredible talent they obviously display there
@@DigitalMirrorComputing you didn't answer my question. What modern artists, name one, please, since you don't seem to know any.

6:24 - Motorcycle Man
10:20 - Power And the Glory
15:27 - Madam Guillotine
20:57 - Heavy Metal Thunder

40:57 - And the Bands Played ON
That's a fucking great setlist
In Rock Imperium Cartagena they played Ride Like The Wind too! Loved it, wasnt specting that
@@bassarana They played in Brasilia, Brasil, last November. Tremendous song by the amazing Christopher Cross!
Legend of the NWOBHM along with Motorhead, Maiden and the Priest !Excellent setlist and performance !
Long live to SAXON ! 🤘🤘🎸
Priest precedes the NWOBHM
@@ballbreathtaker9773totally correct dude.
@@ballbreathtaker9773 And Motorhead. Grim Reaper, Maiden, Saxon, Satan, Angel Witch, Witchfynde etc are NWOBHM legends.
@@whiterunguard9978You all forgot Venom.
@@Hell-AwaitsWe're talking about good bands.
what an astonishing performance for an almost 50 year old band
Saw them first in 1984 at the Crusader Tour in Osnabrück 🤘🤘🤘
Such a GREAT band. Very underappreciated, especially here in the U.S. ONE of my favorite bands since 1982
These guys are unflappable and still can go! Their last CD was incredible and arguably one of their best!
Their last album is one of their top 3 albums after their first 5 albums which have defined what Saxon is.
@@ballbreathtaker9773I agree. Their last two decades have been nothing but spectacular but now and then there's an album which is still greater than the others. For me Lionheart, Into the Labyrinth, Thunderbolt and the new one easily stack up next to their early 80s material.
I Love Lionheart that was for me that album that take me to Big Saxon fan again then i love Into the labyrinth and also inner Sanctum Metalhead is Masterpiece album then Sacrifice album and Battering Ram is amazing and Thunderbolt and the lastest album Is masteralbum
A bunch of granddaddies.

Biff is 73 here! But mother nature nor father time have been able to affect his pipes. If anything, he seems to have (even) more power in the lower registers than before. Class act!
Nigel Glockler 71
@@jirkahympl5570 Yes, one of the oldest drummers to keep up at that level of intensity and effort. Ted McKenna was sensational for Michael Schenker's Fest (power gun -like double bass drums) but sadly died unexpectedly at 70, a couple of years ago.
@@greg-warsaw4708 Tommy Aldridge too
@@greg-warsaw4708 Had the pleasure to meet and chat with Ted Mckenna around 2015 when he was touring with Gerry McAvoy's Band of Friends. Very interesting and likeable individual who recounted a fair few tales of life on the road and in the studio with the Alex Harvey Band and Rory Gallagher. Ted was always in demand as a session drummer with a variety of differing bands and artiest, including Womack and Womack. His passing whilst undergoing a fairly routine hernia operation was both sad and unexpected. R.I.P. Ted.
Saxon for ever!!!
Nigel Glockler, what an incredible drummer. His double bass playing is amazing
Couldn't agree more the Glockster is amazing!
71 years old and drumming that way.. incredible
I toured Europe with Freedom Call in 1999 with SAXON. They delivered every night. SAXON is one of the best live bands out there right now.
... 🤘 🇬🇧
... FREEDOM CALL 🇩🇪 from Germany, Power-Metal institution (İlker Ersin with Turkish origin on bass between 1998 - 2005 and 2013 - 2018) ... 🤘 🇩🇪
... check also out SIN STARLETT 🇨🇭 from Switzerland, Heavy-Metal masterclass (Elias 'Eli' Felber on vocs, his voice reminds me somehow of Biff Byford aka Peter Rodney Byford of legendary long-lasting Heavy-Metal institution SAXON 🇬🇧) ... 🤘 🇨🇭
'm drinking a beer....watching Biff Byford do his thing.
and i am f*cking enjoying this !!
daddies came on stage and showed how to chop good old heavy metal!
Yes, I can't believe the BBC would show Saxon like this.
When you get a little older you know what these guys are delivering here. Amazing.
Classic heavy metal no guitar effects, synthesizers and no other nonsense either. Catchy songs with great heavy riffs. The background of the scene is decorated with Marshall amps with a church scene and eagle overhead. This is true heavy metal. 🔥🔥🔥
Saxon una banda legendaria 🤘
Brilliant......who needs Coldplay at Glastonbury?
..can't believe he's 73!!!! What a power!!!!
Where is a power? He moves like Joe Biden, only can cry louder 🤭
and the glory
Saw them for the first time on the Denim and Leather tour and about 10 times since 🤟
Saxon have always been unreal live, can I just say Nibbs has to be up there as one of the best bassist/showmen ever, he is mesmerising to watch, that headbanging & energy.
Saxon is such an amazing band, great songs, great live act, just amazing!
Saxon was the first metal band I grew with.
Hi Luke, i´m 64 now and grew up with DEEP PURPLE. At that time there was Heavy Metal an anknown world. But listen to riffs of FLIGHT OF THE RAT and BURN. That was Heavy Metal already. Many greetings from Germany. Viele Grüße aus Deutschland🙂
Brian Tatler (guitar) of Diamond Head in there?
It's great seeing these classic bands still bringing it. Accept's set was really good.
Arguably, Biff is one of the only classic metal vocalists that's both still alive and kicking it and also surpassing/heavily standing besides new vocalists playing old school metal. Truly one of the best.
Heavy Metal forever 🤘🤘
My first real exposure to Saxon.... I've been familiar with the name alongside Accept, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest for a while but never really gave them a chance..... I'm super glad that I clicked on this video!! 🎸🔥🤘
Seen them numerous times when they were in their prime.
To be honest: today they are not what they once were - but then who is?
And given that Biff is an incredible 73 years of age he can still light it up - I know some people younger than him who don't come close to his stamina and energy.
This dudes voice, at his age, amazing ♥
Indeed !
Couldnt agree more! True metalgod!
Was just thinking the same thing. Saw them in 1981 and his voice is still amazing.
@@simonmorris361 Yeah, I saw them twice in the 80’s, I’m absolutely amazed at Biff’s voice, not to mention the still long flowing hair, incredible! 🤘
Denim and Leather ?
Excellent old heavy metal band SAXON❤
Wow that crowd is super lame. Have they even heard of Saxon?? Unreal
Biff byford is the fking best. I Saw them weeks ago with Judas Priest and he was phenomenal.
He is 73 and sings like a 20 year old! LONG LIVE SAXON!
That song with Amon Amarth is so damn epic! I wish I could hear it live.
That song Is called saxon AND vikings
Saw them with Judas Priest earlier in the year, their latest album is fantastic go buy it
Great job from all but Nigel needs more recognition what a excellent drummer!
As a matter of fact, I much prefer Saxon to Iron Maiden.🤘
Kicki'n Ass. Great Show. First Accept, now Saxon. Love Biff and Nigel. I heared this "Boyband" since 1980 ☺. Yupp, Metal never dies.🤘Danke an Arte für dieses Konzert.
Me since 1983.
Power & the Glory was the first metal album of my life.
@@PNSHR Great. My First Album was from 80's Wheels of Steel. One Year later, Killers from Iron Maiden. Many more Bands eg. Accept, Metallica, and and and following. That shaped my youth, or rather I grew up with it. It's unbelievable what Bill or Nigel achieve on stage despite their age, + Bandmembers. // Keep on Rock...long live Metal
And the Diamond Head gitarist is super!
Long live Mighty Saxon
Still kicking max ass! Brian and Doug fit together VERY well!
I Love Saxon.
Tellement mieux que le concert de Metallica
So important that they played Crusader in our from all sides besieged free western world. Come Crusader, let battle commence!!!
Trop bon, les anciens assurent encore bien ! Superbe Setlist !
True British Heavy Metal 🤘

Tatler ! has made Saxon great once again !
near 50 years after, they are still the best!!! Nigel Glockler is the heart beat of heavy metal
Best band on Earth !!
watched them few days ago in Nuremburg with Priest. They were incredible. 1hour of pure dynamite. Guys in their 70ies. Fathers of Heavy Metal.
God bless Saxon !

Super concert !
That was sick!!!
Saw Buff and the Boys blow Motley crew out of the water at Keil opera house in the 80s they opened and played a flawless set note for note as good as the album's ...something BRITT metal bands pride them selves on Sabbath Saxon UFO priest Maiden
You get my point so lucky to have been in the metal era splitting era
Danke, Arte, für die Aufzeichnung!!!Seit 1988 bin ich Saxon-Fan. War im Konzert zur Solid Ball of Rock-CD. Und zuletzt am 4. Oktober 2022.
EXCELLENT!!!!!
Wow! I saw Saxon twice in the 80’s, I can’t believe Biff still sounds as good as he did then, I’m blown away on my “Wheels Of Steel”..🤘
The best heavy metal band ever!!!!
Hell yeah!!! 🤘
Goose bump on Motorcycle men. Biff still Awesome. Great performance from the band. One of the best heard at this Hell Fest 2024 edition.
SAXON is always There ! I Knowles them since 1980 and their track " motorcycleman " 😊
Sublime. Gods of Metal 🔥 👏👏👏
Also, thats a really good backdrop screen for them, 1st time Ive seen that
Saxon are one of the greatest Metal Bands 😊
F a n t a s t i c. !!!💥🎸 🥁🎤➕
Thank you Saxon, for many years LIVE - one of the greatest bands on earth 🤘
Esto es demasiado bueno para ser verdad... Como los amo Saxon ! ❤
Hey youngsters take notes! Saxon just took your ass to School!!!!!!!
Saxon are one of the UKs greatest rock bands 🎸
Long live old skool hard rokn metal👍👌🤘🤘🤘🤘🔥
The oldies are great everytime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Show do caralho...uma das maiores do Metal!
LEGENDS ❤️🤘🔥
Sounded like Metallica at the start. Then it got worse as it went on.
Saw them with Judas Priest in Munich again this year. They are still amazing. One of the first bands i listened to.
Saw them at a small venue earlier this year. Biff was hitting high notes without breaking a sweat. Whatever elixir of youth he has discovered, I hope he shares it with us mere mortals someday!
Saw them for the first time supporting Motorhead in 1979...and have seen 'em umpteen times since. Always great 🤘
What a setlist🔥
Do you have the set list, i discovered Saxon at the Hellfest
I po těch letech pořád skvělá show 👍 zdravím!
14 tracks and only two from the last fourty years, but they play 12 tracks from 1979-1984, ¿don't they believe in their own last eighteen albums? I think it's enough with listening to the same songs over and over again since more than four decades ago. Biff is a beast and a legend, but Heavy Metal shouldn't end up being just a nostalgic act.
Merci Arte !
Master piece
Excellent show et set fantastique 🤘

Just superb from start to finish.
Saw this band for first time with my boyfriend we were both blown away how bad ass old school metal they were and we loved them since .
✌️🤩. YEEEE. AAAAA 💥🔥. FIEL. SEGUIDOR. DE. . SAXON. desde. 1982. 💥🔥. NEVER. SURRENDER. . 🤘. ROCK. O n
I have been to the Nuremberg concert. they were better then Priest, soundwise and performance! Love Saxon!
