I use button puncher but I use what I call a switch grip (basically hold it traditional way for most stuff and use claw for movement tech.) And I'm pretty decent. Had to learn claw to beat the souls series lol. EDIT: Recently got paddles so ima be schmoovin boi!

L1/LB for jump, R3 for slide/crouch and R1/RB for interact This changes your tactical ability to X/A and your ult to X+Square/A+X and your melee to B so unless your a pathfinder main I think these controls are the most optimal for controllers without paddles or people who don’t wanna learn claw.
All the movement tech I've learned that's possible on pad is easy af to me it's mainly practice a shit ton till you're near 100% consistant. Also please make a guide on how to jitter aim on pad pls. Not many good guides and everyone does it different.

Just use the index fingers to swipe across the touchpad. If gyro isn't good then just turn it off or only on when you aim

I just switched to controller from MnK and have tried to different controllers with paddles on the back from to different companies. I just couldnt get used to it, like because of the paddles i could not hold the controller or in my hands and it influenced my gameplay. So i switched to doubleclaw with bumper jumper tactical Button Layout and it did Take me a month to get used to it but im so much better and my movement is so much more fluent then with a paddle controller. But if you play on pc, i will agree, that gyro aim with q controller is so much more better then with stixks
Im a controller player (PS5) and my favorite guns are the smgs cus there so powerful and have little recoil (volt is the best gun in the game) Also question What gun is your least favorite gun in the game (mine is the flatline cus you get shredded instantly and it’s so stupid and annoying)

This is the best button layout if you don’t have paddles (scuff). R1 - shoot L1 - ADS R2 - use ability L2 - crouch / on hold L3 - jump R3 - holster weapon This basically allows you to crouch while strafing in a fight/ slide jump/ change weapon or holster to engage faster/ use your ability, ALL while keeping your thumb on joystick to aim and track which is critical in a fast paced game like apex.

Didn't get to far yet but I have to make this statement. "Both inputs have their strengths and weaknesses" is a lie only in the sense that the only "strength" roller has is AA that is IT. M&K is and always will be the superior input.
Start the game: it’s super important for your team and gameplay if you start the game you might be in the lobby and starting a game can be the difference between losing and winning. Like dude I get it idc about the 30 min explanation you give about what it does
None of this is helpful advice for anyone that has been playing fps games and is familiar with a controller. If you want to be good, play around cover, soft peaks instead of full swings out of cover for damage, Don’t get punished for being out in the open, it only takes a couple seconds to knock someone. If you think back to most times that you died it all started when you were caught out of cover or it was just a bad spawn. Settings are essentially the only thing that is going to help your aim and movement. Do not stick to defaults and do custom settings for everything, watch a few settings videos, pick up claw or fully remap your controller, the less you have to take your finger of the right analog stick the better. Hope this helps.
Not so easy on ps4, one day the ps5 will be available normally and at regular price. Sadly i saw the ps5 insides and it’s so compact there’s no proper airflow like the ps4 but guess it’s a stationary fan life for anti overheating. Good ol triple pun there.

All these tips only apply to pc controller players. This game is unplayable on ps4 with 40 frames and constant lag. The hit detection is so shit compared to pc. Game is unplayable. Frame fluctuations have always been a thing. But the hit detection is seriously worse since half way this season.

Yep more movement tech that gets discovered that isn't possible on pad is just that much more of a cap on our ability to compete. Even if most people are ass and don't bother to learn movement or other tech on controller cause " too hard need 200$ controller ". I use button puncher and play a switch grip. Standard grip and switch my hands to claw for movement tech really easy, once you get used to just using your right index on the face buttons instead of R1 or RB.

Aim assist does not kick in with sniper optics (6x, 6x8, ect) so if you're using sniper I recommend using 2x4 instead

Volt is just a straight up laser. But I like my tried and true combos R301 with mastiff or R99 also Flatline with mastiff or PK. Easy wins.

I like smgs too but I’ve found myself running an ar and a wingman or shotgun the last 2 seasons for some reason

This is the best button layout if you don’t have paddles (scuff).
