How did Benavidez look to you at 175? Does he beat Bivol and Beterbiev?
He will not take any of those fights before canelo because he will lose with both and if he loses his hope for a canelo fight will be over and yes payday

Those scorecards were way too wide!! Benavidez did not look like a monster at all in the higher weight class and Gvozdyk looked comfortable throughout

His power seems to not translate well at light heavy
Benavidez started looking desperate with those wild swings. He will not be able to walk through Beterbiev like that and I think Bivol has a relatively easy nights work

And he only moved up one weight class which is really his natural weight class
In this fight, the only thing anyone can say about Benavidez is that “his power didn’t translate to the 175 lbs division”. Even if we forget about the fact that he came injured with ligament problems to the fight, that he skipped a tuneup fight to get a better feel at a brand new weight class and instead went straight into a title match, there is t anything else to really complain about his performance
Really, it isn’t an exaggeration or euphemism. His endurance was the same or better, same with his chin, speed, combinations… His footwork, hip movement, head movement, his reaction time, his IQ… All of these were better than his previous performance. How much better is he going to be in his next 2-3 fights!

I was disappointed by Benavidez in his 175lbs debut. I don’t think his power carried over to that division. If it was that injury to his hand that impeded him. However, he looked gassed in the later rounds and really slowed down and that’s where Gvozdyk took over. Also Gvozdyk did not hurt or dominate Benavidez. David won a unanimous decisions, and we wanted the knockout so I think we expect David to be exceptional in his new weight class.

Gvozdyk was pulling his punches! It was like he was sparring. At any given moment he could have crushed benavidez. Benevidez hit him with everything and Gvozdyk walked right through them and answered back with pitter-patter

Let’s put the injuries aside. I never like when guys mention that after a fight. Let’s just say, we need to see more of Benavidez at 175 because his power didn’t carry against Gvozdyk. He hit that guy with so many shots yet he never seemed buzzed even once. Is that because of Gvozdyk’s chin or because Benavidez’s power isn’t the same at 175. Probably a little of both.
Also, he didn’t dominate the whole fight. Gvozdyk probably won the last 3 rounds when Benavidez looked a bit gassed. I’m a Benavidez fan but last night wasn’t his best performance, but it was still ok for his first fight at 175. Just not as dominant as we are used to seeing.
@@richardcollins2622 I never thought about putting any feelings into fighters mentioning injuries, that I think about "like or dislike". I see it as knowing all the information in order to make better judgements about the fight. I saw Gvozdyk buzzed a few times, particularly in round 4. His chin? Well, Beterbiev had to drop Gvozdyk 3 times before he put him away, so yeah, I guess his chin is good. I don't think it's possible to "dominate" a guy that's bigger and has a big amateur background, being a bronze medalist. I have still haven't made a definitive judgment on Benavidez chin, I need to see more.
He did lose, in effect. Oleos was obviously carrying him - either for money or out of friendship. Watch any real Oleks bout and you'll see that David gave him EXACTLY the kinds of openings, scores of times, through which the Nail has KTFO'd multiple previous opponents.

For his first fight at 175, he did well. A few years back; gvozdyk, usyk and loma were all dominating there divisions. Gvozdyk’s only loss was to Arthur and he had a savage knockout win against Adonis Stevenson who was considered the no 1/no 2 guy with kovalev. David may not be ready just yet ,but he will be.

I need to see more of Benavidez at 175. He fought the same style but his punches didn’t have the same effect…granted Gvozdyk is built like a slab of concrete. I still need to see if Benavidez can get guys out of there at 175. After seeing last night’s fight I do, however, think Benavidez would have major problems with Beterbiev. He wouldn’t be able to stand in front of him in the high guard like he does with all of his opponents. It would be night-night.
