Good performance but not as dominating as everyone expected. Benavidez seemed gassed by round 7 while Gvozdyk barely getting into rhythm. I feel like he got tired trying to impose his will but Gvozdyk handled his power really well. Didn't like that he only fought in spurts the 2nd half of the fight only turning up the heat in the last 30 seconds of each round, while letting Gvozdyk have the rest of the rounds. Gvozdyk was actually doing the pressuring towards the end, pushing David back into the ropes couple times. My recap is that Benavidez dominated the first half of the fight and did just enough in the 2nd half to not let Gvozdyk mount a comeback.
I loved this for David. He got challenged.

Two fights ago , the Bivol fanboys were saying he's was the GOAT for beating Rank #12 Lyndon Arthur in a UD. David moves up to 175lbs and on his first fight and beats the #6 ranked at light heavy. They make excuses saying he was old and slow. butl... Gvozdyk is 3 years YOUNGER than Beterbeiv and Beterbiev isn't any faster than Gvozdyk. 🤣
@@danr2652Bivol was never the guy who goes for a KO. Meanwhile Benavidez was known for his power. Bivol is an outboxer and he completely outboxed every opponent, Benavidez is a puncher and couldn’t get the KO win, heck he couldn’t even hurt Gvozdyck. Thats the difference.
You can see also that he couldn’t throw a lot of power from his left hand, that’s why he couldn’t TKO or Ko the bigger man that was Gvozdyk. He was a heavyweight in the amateurs as well
