    Where exactly should you or could you place this device reason I'm asking is im fairly new to lithium and super caps/Hybrid caps and right now I have the ioxus ultra cap and a 74AH lev60 pro V2 from jag35 works great for my setup 1800.1 on two Q-class L7 12 im told it can push more than double that on just the lithium i don't know but I'm running that with an isolator and my lead acid up front for the car unfortunately the ioxus is way to big to go up front could i put this in my battery bay under the hood and run it as a buffer between the alternator and the lithium I know it is not needed for what I'm currently running I don't even get a volt drop but I want to upgrade to around 5-6000 watts rms between the trunk and mids/highs and I was thinking with what this is rated for as well as the other two I'm wondering if I can't use this like I asked and go ahead and upgrade

    That resting voltage is high at 15v. Im new to lithium, this mix with say my two agm batteries that rest at 12.8, 12.4 ish when sitting for a few days doesn't affect them negatively? This would probably be the best thing for my setup. I have a Singer 350a, two Northstar batteries, gp ofhc 1/0 big 4 and all gp ofhc 1/0 wire into my distro to power two crescendo symphony amps(s4 and s1v2). Sometimes when my voltage dips, my smd vm-1 shows when it recuperates, it spikes sometimes to 15.5v, if it's a higher frequency bass tone. I take this would smooth the spike ?

      @THEAVERAGEGUY1983 Рік тому

      @Top Shelf Innovations what makes you think that this makes me happy? Lol! You guys and your comments 😅 all i said was what i stated in the comment. An opinion.
      Look is this expensive? Absolutely are there better options out there for a much lower price? Im not sure, this is the first time i hear of these caps and this shape and weight, i like the idea of their small size and big performance. Based on the shape and size alone they can go in a spare tire location for cars that cant have full size extra batteries.
      XS power has their little cylinder caps that look like soda cans and those cost a quite a bit too. I see those much harder and dangerous to work with, ive already seen people settinf their cars on fire with those because of the way they are installed. In my channel i have a saying: (Go with what you can afford at the moment or if you really want the pricey gear, save up the money till you have what you need for your unique system build) unfortunately people have different income strengths, some have loads of cash and some don't. So I try not to push what I buy on others. Again that's just an opinion. 😁👌

    • @yourmom-ii8ep
      @yourmom-ii8ep Рік тому

      3-4 /900-1200$ for that price your options would significantly change as far batteries this would only be feasible if price comes down or you are extremely limited on space

    • @THEAVERAGEGUY1983
      @THEAVERAGEGUY1983 Рік тому +1

      @your mom well, of course i would prefer for the price to come down, thats why i also said i wouldnt expect any less for the $299.99 price lol but in my reply to the other dude i did talk about space limitations or weight limit as well. Those XS power full-size batteries like the D3400, for example, aren't light, but they definitely are cheaper than these. These remind me of power wheel batteries, but for car audio 😅 and would go great in a spare tire location for cars that cant have full size batteries for an audio system. I think when it comes to tech we are going in the right direction but just not price wise, i agree that it is definitely excessive.

      It's still a bit crazy to me that this little box is basically running my whole car because my voltage never gets to the point that the AGM is doing any work at all.

The thing to keep in mind is the Hybrid caps (like the NXT) don't have near the same discharge rate as the EDLC supercaps, but they are 10x more energy dense. So for systems under 2000 RMS the NXT is the better option imo. Not just because it's smaller, but also because it has more reserve capacity. If space isn't as much of an issue I'd just run a small LiFEPO4 lithium bank with an AGM under the hood. You can run LiFePO4 and AGM without an isolator with no issues.

      @hackmunch3949- The manufacture has rated this little super cap/battery combo/hybrid, for 60Amp continuous= not short term as you said. Peak, or burst= short term probably around 120Amps! The thing that helps this little unit out, is that it is a Hybrid= battery= more stable duration+ a super capacitor!

    I think this device only really makes sense if your alternators can basically totally power the load, and this is able to clean up the ripple from the alternator, but not really able to support much more load than your alternators can provide. contrast that to a lithium brank that pretty much makes the alternators irrelevant as long as you give enough time to recharge.
    If it really is 2000F, that's pretty much 0.6AH per volt lost. if your amplifier is drawing 120A more than the alternator can provide, you are dropping like 2V every 0.01 hours, so about every 36 seconds. if you started out at 16V, you're at 14V in half a minute, and that isn't even counting the voltage sag from the initial load.
    That being said, if you compare it against lead acid in a system where the alternators can deliver the current demands of the amplifier, that capacitor would probably smooth the ripple as well as a full size car battery while being tiny and being able to be placed right next to the amplifier. It's nifty if a bit pricy for it's actual capacity, but could be useful if you are too space constrained to have a bunch of batteries.

      "If it really is 2000F" well 400% of a 3000F bank would be 12000F and with it being a "hybrid" is kind of a moot point as far as capacitance goes as batteries are not rated in Farads. Ripple is the reason audio caps came out, was never to be a substitute for reserve, it was to get rid of noise. Have you ever opened one of those sad excuses of a "capacitor"? just a couple small caps, some goo and a chunk of concrete! yeah that's not a joke! (well it is but in a different way)

    • @pjtruslow

      @@commonsenseisdeadin2024 I think you are conflating modern Lithium Hybrid supercaps with old ~1F car audio caps.
      The old caps that people used were definitely useless but these are useful in a way but the energy density isn’t quite enough to replace a battery.
      If you look at suppliers that actually make these like Taiyo Yuden, they are totally rated in Farads. They aren’t quite the same as batteries.
      Still not sure how useful they are, but they are sort of in their own class.

      @@pjtruslow That is what I was referring to the old.5-10fared caps. They were meant to filter noise/ripple as you had mentioned ripple.
      I run lithium (NMC) and supercaps (Eaton 2.7 3000F cells).
      I have no idea what this "hybrid" shit is but I don't care, $400 for that joke is asinine! I don't care what "technology" they label it as, that tiny thing is not replacing your battery and is a gimmick at best!
      None the less, kudos to them, they are just playing the game and know for every product there's a fool who will buy it! Considering there's pretty much no set standards or rules to abide by in car audio, they are literally laughing in our faces and not even trying to hide it!

      These farads ads aren't the same as say maxwell 3000f farads these are a marketing gimic ive been researching these four months now they are regular 18650 lithium battery except one of the anodes has been replaced with a graphene anode and graphene is what's used in supercapacitors so they're calling it a hybrid when by definition you cannot have a hybrid between a capacitor and a battery because one stores electrical charge between two plates the other has a chemical reaction between two elements creating electricity so they're two completely different methods of making voltage and amperage that's like saying I have a hybrid between outer space and human being it's like we you can't your human being likewise you can't blend a capacitor with a battery their very nature is different and the maximum amperage for a one-second burst is 60 amps even though it's rated at like 4000f each you still can only pull 60a thats nothing compared to a maxwell 3000f cap which can do 2700f Short Circuit.
      Hell you can get a123 18650 cells that are rated at 50a continuous for 1.50$ per cell right now and build your own pack for 1/3 the price of this clown

    @HifiVega- I know you do thing's legit, and sparked has legit stuff, but @8:26 into this video, there is no way that amperage reading is correct? In the test where your SMD Amm-1 showed a max power of 18?? Watts, and pulling 133 max amps, but on the next test where your Amm-1 showed 23?? Watts, how was the max amperage shown, only 6 amps more, making 500 watts more= that's not possible! To make another 500 watts more, with more voltage drop, approx., 60+ amps more would had to have been pulled! Then with a 200 amp power supply, @9:45 into this video, the amperage showed 259amps, while making 2,876 watts, dropping to 11.2 volts! The 259 amps seems much more like it, but im not sure why it only showed 139 amps, making 23?? watts= wrong. Thanks for testing, the power results speak for themselves, this is a great little unit!
