one of the things we love about being a farmer is that we can get covered in dirt and crap any day we like, and we love the lifestyle. wouldnt have it any other way. I'll keep watching, cause I'm learning a lot about beekeeping from you. surprise surprise, you are actually a good teacher. keep up the good work.
Watching all the hard work that your dad does makes me want to become a patreon supporter. I've said this several times before and I'll say it again, I can't believe you don't have more subscribers. Mark's a hard working and fun guy and your video quality is top notch! I just got a raise at work... why not support this Channel!
Don't know what the Aus equivalent is but I feel like I'm watching a Sunday morning PBS episode along the lines of This Old House or something except I'm totally and utterly enthralled by this and this is my favorite shit ever.
Great video. Love almonds and tried backyard ones in my day. Never thought how ‘real farmers’ do it. Very clever people out there to think up those machines.
It takes a very special type of man to not only proudly display, but also fondle, brush and stack his nuts on UA-cam! 😂😂😂😂 Cheers guys, great vid 🇦🇺 🍺🍺
Here I was thinking you were a bee man & then I find there is another reason behind it. Good work. Used to do a bit of shooting on western NSW properties & was always impressed on how many hives I saw. Crops or not , they were there. Goes to show how much bees do. Love the channel & will support soon. Just need to convince the other half we need the bees for the veggie patch.
Here in Spain we have undergrowth with the almonds, oranges, lemons, and carrots etc for the goats sheep to fertilise the natural soils and flowers for honeybees. Sadly I don’t see that in Australia and California, wondering how long this can last?
i know Im randomly asking but does someone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my login password. I love any tips you can give me
@Johnny Zyaire thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Can you eat the fruit that it grows in? Until today I never looked up how almonds were harvested, but it's been a curiosity at the back of my mind since that part is gone by the time anyone usually sees an almond(shelled or otherwise)
I knew there was sweet almonds and bitter almonds(made the mistake of getting bitter almond extract as a kid for a baking experiment{it didn't go well, as you can guess}) but 4 varieties????
Oh my Giggle Giggle. HA HA. I hope When I grow up I am just as insane as you Mr Bush Bee Man! It will make my life pleasant and also FUN woopeee woopee! Yeeeeha Grandma! Lets get this show on the road. Hee Hee Haa haa!
So I can't imagine every almond on the tree is gonna be ready to drop at the same time. Do you do multiple days of shaking each tree to get everything off or do you just wait a while until you judge it's all ready to shake? How much time to you have to get them off the tree when the fruit starts splitting open?
Shells are removed at the factory. The are separated from the dirt, rocks, branches, leaves first. They are then de-husked. (The husks are fed to cattle.) Then the nuts are shelled. Check out the playlist on this channel called "almonds from start to finish".
hi BBM back in the day when my parents first bought there house in dover gardens it use to be an almond block /s and they had a papershell tree in the front yard and one of those break your teeth shell ones in the back ,anyway at the time the man from ditters i think it was would come round and give them money for the alamonds of there tree and of course now its all gone and if you want to see an almond you have to go to your old stomping ground willunga or to the almond train in mc claren vale , you should be glad your not the bloke who has to get the almond milk what a prick of a job that would be milking all those bloody almonds take care .
I love raw almonds. That's the same way we crack pecans here in the southeastern USA. They also come in a paper shell variety. How long will an almond tree produce almonds?
i just got 17 pounds of non p.'s from work. 72 hours a week in the almond huller. born and raised in chico ca. where the nuts come from. lovely video sir.
Lads that was really cool. Made a lot more sense seeing all the stages. Loved the Almond boat insight. 30years has made a lot of difference. Thanks for sharing, how long before you are marketing honey roasted Almonds - Question without notice to Mrs BBM ;)
Love your work boys. You are a great team and I've been hoping you'd do a video of the harvest. It was better than i'd imagined. Can you (or your mum) come up with a recipe that combines your honey and your almonds

Thank you farmer, your work and livelihood is much appreciated!! Nothing like watching a dedicated man love what hes doing!

I love how he is sooooo happy and charming
I’m from California never heard that fact about them being called paper shells but I’m now calling them golden shells 😂love it 💛
Loved seeing this . Would be great if you could share the next steps of the process.
Those are some funny looking bees.
It's amazing how fast harvests take place these days. One man can do the work that took a hundred a century ago.
Don't know what the Aus equivalent is but I feel like I'm watching a Sunday morning PBS episode along the lines of This Old House or something except I'm totally and utterly enthralled by this and this is my favorite shit ever.
Lovely film/documentary.
A pleasure to watch .............. ☆☆☆☆☆
Thank you..
Many happy greetings from Launceston, Tasmania.

Great video. Love almonds and tried backyard ones in my day. Never thought how ‘real farmers’ do it. Very clever people out there to think up those machines.
From an Ag engineer interested in learning more about almond harvesting, I have to say awesome video. Thanks!
I only have one almond tree, that hasn't even had any flowers yet, but I love this video.
Thank you :)
I wasn't watching the video but listening to this man...
Thanks for sharing your story about almonds. I enjoy all aspects of farming but do beekeeping because it is what I can afford to do in agriculture.
It takes a very special type of man to not only proudly display, but also fondle, brush and stack his nuts on UA-cam!

Cheers guys, great vid

Oh I remember using the old method to harvest almonds in northern California when I was a youngn. the sheets were canvas though and heavy..
Please give me the mauring of almond plants
Neat! But how do you get all the sticks out?
They visited the processing factory and showed how it works in Episode 58 ("A Cracking Episode"). In short, it's a lot of shaking and sifting
they go through a pre cleaner, then the huller. the pre cleaner rids of twigs and rocks, the huller removes the hulles.
Good to see how it is done. Thank you for your time.
Your the man. Love your almonds
Nice video!
I'm growing some almonds, one plant I bought, and another I grafted onto my apricot tree (we'll see how that goes).
