    This is the most incredible video I have ever watched. I’m 50 yrs old and decided 5 months ago in my birthday to try out my first hobby ever. Trying to fly RC planes probably wasn’t the smartest idea but after totaling my first plane on the first flight I fell in love with it. I have destroyed 6 plans so far but I’m becoming better using glue. I some days hope to fly half as good as the flying in this video. So glad I came across this tonight. Can’t wait to find more of your videos. Thank you for doing these, it’s inspirational!!

    Dude! That thing is so sweet!!! I love the radio calling everything out. It makes it so realistic. You are a great flyer. Your brain works very fast to talk through everything and fly it. I bet you would love an F-86 (that was my first jet then an F-16). Very impressed with this model and especially the orange lights in the thruster! I also read that the F-16 was designed to slide sideways through the air so it could shoot as it slid to 180 degrees flat.

      Thanks man! Let me know how it goes using my setup. Just remember, the cheapest insurance you can get is several preflight checks before committing to takeoff. 130mm is a nearly perfect CG point even for someone new to an F-16.

    The all-flying horizontal tail was first used in the US on the Bell X-1. Chuck Yeager found that when he lost elevator effectiveness near the speed of sound, he could somewhat control the pitch of the X-1 by trimming its horizontal stabilizer. The British had already put an all-flying stabilator on their experimental Miles M.52 and shared the info with Bell Aircraft. Once Bell converted the X-1 to an all-flying horizontal tail, Yeager was able to exceed the speed of sound without losing pitch control.

    Hello Jon !
    Very instructive video !!!
    I've just bought this f16, and I was wondering if I could use the flaps without tailerons? Like RcGeek channel with a 60% differential.
    The elevator to flaps mix is interesting too!
    By the way, what deflections do you use for your take-off and landing flaps?
    Thank you ;)
    Antoine ( France )

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 роки тому +2

      I wouldn't recommend setting up flaperons without the differential stabilators to assist with roll. It'll probably end up feeling mushy in the sky with the stick response you'll get. You may also find that you could end up needing that roll assistance only the stabs can provide at low airspeeds.
      For flaps: I'm using 100% throw for landing and 50% throw for takeoff. There's a slight up elevator compensation for both. My throws probably won't match yours so I'd recommend you adjust it to suit your model's pitch response in the sky.

    • @TwoBrosRC

      @@TwoBrosRC
      Yeah, I suppose you could unclip the trailing edge of the stab corners. There might be overall dimensional differences too, I’m not sure. I never flew anything but Blk 42s (P&W) at Luke and Blk 40s (GE) operationally. They were both blocks of the F-16CG, originally LANTIRN until we brought the first Fighter implementation of NVGs online. You can tell the NVG generation F-16Cs from the older ones because the old gold tinted canopy was not NVG friendly. We switched them to the new and improved smoke color tint after Hill and Misawa lost jets to poor light transmission and disorientation with NVGs on.
      So I only heard stories about the agility and G-onset of the F-16A model being absolutely brutal. Some Flight Safety Officer class going through the AFSC at Kirkland did an anonymous survey of all USAF F-16C pilots, and more than half of us said we thought we had G-LOC’d in the jet. That’s with the reduced stab.
      The F-16 was a masterpiece from General Dynamics. Even in RC form, it’s a sensational flyer.

      Ha, it’s good to relive a little. I wonder if he knew how far we would ultimately take that laser? I remember the first time I sat in a Viper at Luke and saw the red guarded “Laser” switch. I was young and stupid and had no idea the jet had a laser. Originally, it was for LGB guidance and plucking accurate coordinates, but it evolved into so much more, including an radar emissions free (so RWR immune) air to air targeting system that also reaches way back there, behind the 3/9 line.
      Can only imagine what the new Targeting Pods and F-35 integral lasers can do. It’s been 20 years since I flew the Viper. Hard to believe. Crap.

    Great flying for sure. Just maidened the T-Bird version, however the motor kept pulsating at full throttle in the air with a fresh Pulse 6s 5000 45c battery. I have since recalibrated the ESC and will see what happens. I also didn't seem to get the thrust that you have. I also have the Viper F-16 as well and have the same experiance even after recalibrating the ESC. Any Ideas?

      Contact Horizon - our 100a Avian that came with the first 80mm F-16 we owned did the same thing, which is why our F-5 (which used the same ESC) was underperforming. They should replace it for you if it persists after calibrating the throttle.

      You'd need an eight channel receiver and would have to give up the eighth channel, and you wouldn't have the ability to change gyro gains on the fly or switch between full manual, AS3X, or SAFE. But you could get most of what I've flown here.

    Hey Jon, I ended up here from your thunderbirds 80mm video. I have a few questions,
    1: Do you have to jail break the receiver to get these enormous elevator throws? I set my iX20 to 150% and they just stop moving before the sticks have achieved full travel.
    2: My thunderbirds is running the AR8630T, I was going to move the BEC to the bind port and free up the channel so I can utilize Tailerons, but the bind port has a Y harness, I am assuming its powering the lights on the aircraft. Can I use the Y harness in conjunction with the BEC and the lights? Or would this make the BEC inoperable as it needs to be plugged in directly to a port by itself? (side note, running RC geek afterburner so that takes up its own channel too).
    Thanks for making awesome videos, I'm currently programming my F-22 using your setup guide as well!

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Рік тому +1

      You do need to unlock the receive and reprogram it to get full throws. Using tinyurl.com/B13DLM servos in the stabs will also help significantly. The lights can be Y'd together with the aux BEC cable into the bind port.

      If you want to fly jets before you learn how to fly, go with a Habu trainer: amzn.to/3N8UE16
      You'll get a lot out of it and learn about how jets fly without risking a very expensive airframe. It's also durable and can take hits well. It's a good jet to work with if you want to exclusively fly jets - but definitely remember that speed is your friend and jets fly best with throttle management. However, this jet lands best with no throttle at all, otherwise it will glide endlessly.

    I wish people wouldn't do that level inverted "test" in SAFE mode. The fact that the ailerons go nuts as the plane passes through level inverted proves nothing. The ailerons will do that even if the gyro is backwards. I'd rather people tilt the plane 30 to 45 degrees from the level upright position, look at which way the controls are deflected, and think about what the airplane is going to do.

    dad was watching your hands/fingers on the stick n ur thumbs on the say aileron stick are jerky n the model is fallowing that jerkiness a bit. dad wanted to suggest try to be smoother with your right thumb/ail stick try to relax a lot ur nervous n its showing lol over all dad said good flying n understanding of the flight control surfaces. the real aircrafts flight control computer mimics alot glider control surfaces. the flaperons ailivator r a must to get f-16 to fly the way they are designed. it was the first fighter that's fly by wire n operate servos connected to the flight control surfaces. when u find your hands are shaking from nervousness try to relax and breath which is hard to do and talk lol . make sure ur blood sugar isn't high from like having a Cinamon roll lol its also important blood sugar isn't to low. dad fly's everything I try to keep his blood sugar around 100/80 he is a diabetic so diabetes is a pain n the ass. dad mentioned to try crow ailerons up above the wing still acting like ailerons/crowerons lol normally the f-16 flight control computer uses this config at the same time it couples in all the other flight control config ur already using so its possible to setup a switch using the flaperons as crowerons which on the real aircraft is speed sensitive n if u setup a a switch to couple this with the alleviator if u don't ike it u can simply turn off the switch keeping n mind the real f-16 uses brute force to fly some configurations like dad was talking about but he liked your flying just relax a bit so ur fingers don't jerk as much the throttle its normal to lets say with a prop aircraft during hoovering maneuvers to blip blip blip the throttle but be smooth on the flight controls like flying a pattern ship Rc model etc. remember ur having fun so don't be nervous causing ur hands to shake n keep up the good flying n f-16s truly own the flight envelope when the flight controls are setup correctly which is a must. to bad u don't live n Okla ud have a blast with dad he really good at flight controls n loves his huge Rc hells but he fly's everything especially turbine f-16/rafale/Saab Draken etc.
