So nice that the "music industry" people to occasionally show some respect for an artist like Jack and give him this platform to express some of his views. A very smart guy, and a very important artist. An inspirational person altogether!!!
Jack is just a class act all around.. Every time i've made trips to Woodstock/Kingston area I have always kept my eye open looking to meet Jack, It's one of those crazy things a fan like myself does since i've been a fan of his now since the late 1970's....
It was never, ever only about the drums with Jack...He has always translated his deep beliefs, thoughts and feelings into the music...whether on a drumset, by composing or as a bandleader. Amazing human being first, unique and great musician second. What an inspiration!
Hey, Im looking for help matching two cymbals (splashes are preferred!) to make a stack. Im not picky on size/series but I ruled out the Max Stax and have the stacker Sabian makes, in the "X" series. Ideas?
Obviously, forests are part of the environment... What I meant is that the amount of wood needed is insignificant compared to other industries like furniture or paper industry. But I totally agree with you to the fact that Jack is quite contradictory when he talks about environment
This is a good example about a drummer that really cares a lot about the environment. Much better for him if he uses drums that made from eco-friendly materials.
It's not saying one thing and doing another. Most people can't possibly do everything that we would think be in line with a belief or support of a cause. You can donate money to help starving children in Africa it that shows me that you care. You don't have to go and adopt all of them. My point is that as long as you're doing SOMETHING. You don't have to do literally EVERYTHING.
Jack I’m no doubt one of your biggest fans and really do truly share a similar sense of deep concern for respecting the environment of our precious Mother Earth, but I have to say that I parted ways with the concept of “Climate Change” that the mainstream has been controlling us with since way back in the 60’s. Electric vehicles are great and everything but how come no one is worried about the unbelievably damaging effects that the spent batteries have on Mama Earth? Or the fact that ugly wind turbines net hardly any energy when compared to other technologies, or the fact that they kill birds by the tens of thousands? Getting rid of plastic bags… now that was something truly revolutionary! Anyway, Sabian please get out of the left wing indoctrination bizzz…. God Bless
..ran out of space. So if Jack say buys locally grown organic produce, has solar panels on his house, drives an electric car, tries to buy recycled products, and recycles all his bottles and cans (I don't know if he does all that, I'm just trying to make a point), we're going to jump on him for playing wooden drums and using wooden sticks? Again he obviously cares, he just can't do EVERYTHING.
Do you? How do you know he doesn't use recycled paper? I'm sure he also lives in a house that uses wood and sits on furniture made out of wood. You can be concerned about the environment and not be a total freak about, which is what he'd be if use he'd acrylic and carbon fiber. I'm sure there are plenty of guitarists and classical musicians who care about the environment but you don't see them using synthetic made instruments.
Environment and biosphere are two separate things. The deforestation has nothing to do with the environment. And, seriously, drum companies are not the first responsible for deforestation...
Acrylic drumsets are a bigger harm to the environment due to the pollution spread to make them. All plastic is made from oil. And carbon fiber drumsticks?? Did you see how hard he hits? He probably goes through 1 pair of sticks a year.... If that
Why don't we just jump on everyone's case. Sabian uses plastic bags and cardboard boxes to ship their cymbals. The drumhead manufacturers use plastic and then cardboard to package the heads. Every stick manufacturer also uses cardboard sleeves to keep their sticks together, though Vic Firth or Vater might use recycled paper for that. Jack should just quit playing drums as to not be a hypocrite and contribute to the problem right?

What a great dude!
😍
@Didido2793 Thank you.
I don't know about how often he goes through sticks, but I'm sure one tree would probably last him a decade's worth of sticks.

I must buy that ride, also, I must grow fruit.

He's 70 yet looks about 50 at the most, lol.
