G-d bless* ..... and good on you all, Canada. (rough, tough breaks, indeed. But win or lose, 1st, 5th, or 1oth . . . it's the efforts, and the stories, and the persistence and perseverance (as demonstrated and shown here) . . . that inspires*. (thanks, for rolling with it all. And for sharing. AND....for being on that race course!!!!!!) (signed, (which is just incidental), an American fan of the whole event (and all the teams)* (and will look forward to seeing you guys in NZ (watching from home, of course)

Nothing worse than a rare unforeseen critical equipment failure on day 1 race 1 of a 2 day 5 race series . . . . it happens . . . the important thing is to fix the issue and move forward which you did on day 2 in Sydney.
All the best to Sail GP Canada in New Zealand this coming weekend and then onto Bermuda and then onto Halifax Nova Scotia your 2024 Sail GP Series home-port, where you and the 9 other teams will get to experience our amazing Nova Scotia hospitality and huge spectator support from your fan base here.
See you soon in Halifax !

"Rebooting a sailboat" just doesn't roll off the tongue.

Maybe I’m biased (as a Canadian) but I think the Canadian boat is the prettiest.

There needs to be guaranteed shakedown time before racing. Taking high tech equipment out of the container and expecting it to just work every time is hubris at best. It will fail at some point and royally screw a team over.

Not clear why Team NZ got redress points when they had equipment failure, but not Team Canada. This seems like a basic sporting fairness issue. C'mon Russell!

Team NZ did not get redress on the event they had the failure. They got it for the next event as they were not able to sail

Thank you for clarifying. This still seems internally inconsistent to me. What difference does it make if you lose points during the event in which the breakage occurred, or the next event? If you lose points through no fault of your own, redress of some form should be awarded. This would be entirely different if the teams themselves were fully responsible for their boats & equipment.

I would have thought average points for the races you were out, based on the rest of the qualifying series where the retirement is through no fault of your own.

How many of you were crying out for the New Zealand team to get full redress points for the event when their wing failed? Or even fair points, considering their averages, for the other event?
    Just curious

Are there any Canadians on board this boat, seems kinda pointless to call it Canada boat with little to no Canadian content…kinda like Sydney Crosby playing hockey fro Sri Lanka!
