Honestly, I think the thing is that they're *not* specifically trying to please the fans. They're making things that *they* really love and enjoy working on, which is why this stuff ends up so polished and amazing. Ofc they love working with their community, but it's like... there's a difference, yknow? A lot of companies get that wrong and end up pandering to the fans, and making stuff that's hated as a result. But that's what I love relogic for, they really and truly love working on their game and they just make whatever they think is fun. And it ends up amazing for it, because you can really feel the passion and the effort that goes into every last detail

The idea is likely to make it so summoners have a actual choice in there play through. You can chose between 2 or 3 great weapons for a boss like every other class, instead of what always felt like 1 during a summoner play through. Also putting the number of whips closer to the number of yoyos (17:21)
Terraria having little summoner stuff actually stopped me from replaying Terraria again there is are just not enough playstyles. you go from A to Z in a straight line.
I'd still like one more active weapon type for summoners than just whips, so theres actual variety. That said, whips are a big improvement over nothing.

Terraria also needs a craftable summon based on the ores. The finch staff is just not always guaranteed, so a craftable summon makes sense as long as it doesn't outclass something like the slime staff.
Honestly, I think they rely a little too heavily on accessory slots to do their changes, such as with the new sounds. This isn't an attack on their design, and I'm grateful that the devs put so much love and attention into their game and community (i.e. don't come at me just because I have a differing opinion), but I think I would have preferred it if the new voice lines and sounds were all purely centralized to the character creation setup menu. Maybe you could "unlock" new ones by doing challenges in a game - like if DelusionalMerg wants that quack sound, they have to find a now-new-mob "the human quacking duck", catch it, cook it, and eat it. Do so and you permanently unlock that voice line to your character voice lines list. Not all of them have to be available initially, but a large portion of them are. And I can see and understand how and why some might be accessory based, like needing a robotic doodad to get like robotic beeping and gear noises or some such, or the Radio Thing for Don't Starve instrument toots. But we only get so many accessory slots for vanity (or otherwise) and it's hard to make a character with the design I want if I also need all these other things to make them have the sounds and transformations and clothes and ears and tail and legs and world filters and whatever else they have or will be adding. That's just my thoughts. I'm not a member of their site or anything, so my thoughts won't likely reach them. But I hope others feel similarly and have shared them over there.
Imagine if that was a thing. That'd be so cool, though I'd hope they add zenith-esque stuff for other classes. Like a zenith bow. Though I wonder how any of them would work in a endgame balanced sense

While whips are cool, I honestly think summoners mostly need new armour sets at this point, an alternative to Spider/Forbidden Armour for early hard mode would be the most appreciated
I do hope there will still be a variety of voices to choose from in character customization like we thought, and that they aren't all accessory-based silly joke voices. I think they sound fun and I'm all for the feature, but there should also be a way to distinguish whether it's you or someone else who is getting hit in the middle of a chaotic boss fight without the use of vanity items that not everyone is gonna be interested in using

They are adding a new pre-hardmode sentry and summon from the dead cells crossover The summon is called "Mushroom Boi" And the sentry is the "barnacle" from dead cells
love some whip news summoner is the perfect balance between ranged and melee and magic you have to get closer to enemies then melee but you have more range then max damage melee and if you ever get in trouble you can hang back and spam some magic while you wait out potion sickness
With the new transformations, I wish we could get a lihzahrd transformation. Like, maybe it could allow us to climb walls or run a little faster, as the lihzahrds get a bit faster when they're running on all fours, and some real-life lizards can climb walls. Plus I just really wanna be a lizard, lol.

My closest assumption is that its just not going to touch it at all, but might aswell be that these bricks has universal grass data, means you could possibly plant any kind ontop of it, making it possible for corruption to transform and propagate through it?

I'm returning to Terraria after 2 years off and I'm overwhelmed by the amount of new stuff I thought that journey's end update was the final one, but I'm happy it's not ❤
This makes me almost wanna run summoner as an alt build now lol. The whips look like alot of fun. I think we need a mana rework for mages tho, like not saying from the ground up but change how we can passively regen it instead of it just waiting or chugging potions make it so we can carge it by right clicking and standing still. Would add some danger and depth to it while also feeling less tedious.
Whips are really cool but I wish they'd give Sentries some love too. One of my fav sub-classes is sentry summoner and it's pretty rough only having the old one's army ones as good ones and not having ANY at all pre-boss.

the rooms of the temple look different too. Unless that was the entrance I was seeing and not a room. But it looks tons smoother..

I hope they give the rest summoner armors whip buffs like the obsidian armor. It's kinda weird how viable that armor is for most of hardmode
