Capo reportedly did sales of $70 million last year so James obviously knows his business and the fact that he had his company appraised by experts is also in his favour. He did everything right, The Sharks were just too high on themselves and did like that they had someone in the Tank not intimidated by them and would not allow himself to devalue his company for their investment and endorsement. Well done James. He will probably end up more wealthy than any of them.

I agree with the wine guy. They discounted the value of his company way too low. It was an insult. If they think they they could make "hundreds of millions" from the IP and the patents, then they should be happy with his offer.
The reason they were so disappointed and upset is because THEY lost so much by him walking away.
And if they were SO disappointed, then it means that they were way too greedy in their offer.

I disagree. I'm glad his wine company is doing well, and it's very likely due to his patent IP. But I still think the sharks are correct. I think they would have made a *LOT* more licensing that patent to other companies across different sectors. THAT would have revolutionized the wine industry, and brought in _significantly_ more money. If his wine was good enough to stand on it's own, it would continue to grow. If it's just a generic wine in a convenient packaging, people are buying the packaging. If people are buying the packaging, the packaging is where the money is at.

Meanwhile, Copa was acquired for 6m. This guy had the right idea all along. If he were to have separated the IP from the business, any stakeholders in the IP business would have a conflict of interest with stakeholders in the copa business. By selling the packaging to other wineries, copa loses what differentiates it from every other wine on the shelf.

@@debbieschultz9768 It's fair if they're not the only one involved in the business. Why shouldn't their partners get the opportunity just because one person involved in the business was previously on the show?
For example, the Citi Kitty woman didn't even event the second product. She's just an effective mouthpiece for promoting the product and getting investors.
