I was professionally offended by the tower climbing story. working alone? possible for certain tasks but not for antenna work. not being tied off under those specific circumstances? extremely unlikely. hitting trees on the way down? basically impossible. landing more than 5 feet away from the tower? zero chance. then the video ended up being about pie.

It's arguably (and somewhat sadly) a defining song for 20th century America. It's birthed a whole empire of restaurants, hotels, and of course, margarita machines.

Jimmy has had several hits, including "Toes in the Sand" which he did with the Zac Brown Band. He has paired up with Alan Jackson as well. Jimmy's popularity is highest amongst country music fans, and he's been a Florida celebrity for decades.
Admittedly, I am a bit biased in this, as my dad grew up in the Keys, and was a buddy of Jimmy's. That said, Jimmy has sold over 20 million albums, and has five gold albums and nine platinum or multi-platinum albums. He has four number one singles, out of 30 albums.
Jimmy may not be Elvis, but he has more hits and number one singles than Bob Marley. Just for context, Bob Marley doesn't have a single number one hit.

I have bought his music over again everytime the media upgrades. His merchandising is both over the top and grown up silly like when you're in Disney land or Vegas and can't live with our overpriced sippy cups and other tat.

It was a small bar/restaurant, no live alligator (that's ridiculous), it wasn't famous for key-lime pie, I don't ever remember if we had that on the menu. Jimmy Buffet didn't sue, he doesn't have a copyright on "Key West", it's a municipality name, anyone can use it. Also I doubt Mr Palaez has ever used the internet, so I seriously doubt he figured it out and started trolling in his 60s. Either way, it had to be someone that worked there, and it's strange.

Jimmy Buffett is a super famous Caribbean/Island Getaway musician. His songs' general themes are pirates, sailing, island life, the ocean, and beautiful women. Think along the lines of the Beach Boys. He's been touring and still active in the music scene for literal decades. I recently turned 28 and my dad has been a Jimmy Buffett fan (affectionately called "Parrot Heads") since before I was born.
The reason he sued is because he owns a restaurant chain known as "Margaritaville", which takes the name from one of his songs. The restaurant does have a location in Key West. The suit feels like a cutthroat lawyer's idea, tbh.
Fun fact! Jimmy Buffett is the famous man who runs away with a margarita in each hand during the film Jurassic World.

I know exactly when I came super close to the end. I was living in a modified storage container in Iraq on a deployment supporting the US Marines (as a contractor) and one night I heard helicopters coming in to land nearby. They recently moved the landing area to an area off to the side of our smaller camp within the base and the base was still doing low lights at the time. This meant the helos (helicopters) had been coming in low over the camp for a bit. Super annoying, but not too bad until that night. The first of the two helos swung over and knocked up the rocks & sand (if it was flying at the appropriate height it wouldn't had kicked up more than a little dust). Then the second one came in and I heard it start to hover...then I heard a clunk type of sound as it started to come down on my little room's roof. I knew I was done for right then and there, but then suddenly the helo powered up & took off towards the landing area. Needless to say I was then super mad & went to yell at some of the Marines in charge. I don't know if anyone was punished, but they did end up moving the landing area shortly there after.

Jimmy Buffett is a singer and probably his most famous song is Margaritaville, which is basically about - I dunno - being kind of drunk beach bum in Mexico, I guess. He has a restaurant and casino and vacation resorts called Margaritaville. So I think that’s the trademark issue. I can see an alcoholic beverage “vile” being a problem. Johnny Carson was the very long time host of The Tonight Show on NBC which was a juggernaut late night talk show.
EDIT: also, to clarify, Margaritaville (the song) was a BIG hit. It’s not an obscure song. There is a Jimmy Buffet channel on SiriusXM called Radio Margaritaville. He’s used that name for a tequila brand. This like hundreds of millions of dollars in Margaritaville branded businesses. It’s not like some small thing.

Possible motive for oswald doing it: drive up property prices for the land the restaurant is on. Basically, do a bunch of reviews for search engine optimization, point to the search results as proof of existing customer demand for bringing back the restaurant, and therefore, justifying a higher price for the property. He probably stopped after he realized the attention the spam posts were getting, and/or realized nobody would buy the property for the price he wanted.

Knowing 4Chan every detail about this checks out as "stupid meme". 4chan love abstract, ARG-like memes where they all collectively do things like, say, give fake reviews about how some old abandoned pie shop offers the most life-changing experience possible.
The fact that it stopped once Reddit picked up on it also makes sense, since 4chan hates reddit. A lot of other memes in the past have stopped being popular on 4chan as soon as everyone else (i.e. the "normies") pick up on it. To them, that ruins the fun, because they want it to be their own joke.
Now perhaps the original owner was somehow involved, perhaps, he even started it, but it's entirely reasonable to expect 4chan to do this kind of thing as a joke, only to abandon it as soon as it gained any attention. They've done this countless of times before.

I have seen spam spots use exactly this behaviour. Usually, they work by copying other reviews or smashing other reviews together. I moderate a large forum with millions of active users and bots are a constant battle and thorn in my side. I also do cyber security and have investigated many such bots. It could just be the input wrong place to spam, want to generate traffic. or are just testing the bot out. Testing the bot seems most likely as once noticed they stopped. (Probably moved onto another place to test) You would be shocked who use these kinds of bots it's not just those wishing to review bomb a product or sell likes/shares or whatever. Governments and people with money use them to push media, news and all sorts. Its big money and a modern problem.

"may he guide me on my final mission to protect the glorious people of Japan!" And thus, the heroic crow went on its last flight, to take out the most hated American antenna in the name of the empire. After flying for days without pause, it reached the target and after taking one last look at the world it so dearly loved, the crow yelled out "for the emperor" and charged at the antenna, striking its target with the force of a thousand suns. Also back in the 70s and '80s there was a restaurant in Atlanta called Dante's Down the Hatch where they had a water feature just inside the door that you had to cross on a pathway/bridge. In this water feature they had a crocodile to meet the diners. The proprietor, Dante, was something of a character.
