So you turn it down when it gets loud... It took you more time to write the message and complain about it then it would have just a turn your volume down...
Since there were a lot of complaints regarding the volume of the videos (Sorry, they're recorded on my phone cause I'm not a big UA-cam factboy with actual equipment), here's the script for the solutions video. Oh, it’s you again. I suppose it’s time to reveal the answers once more. The Knights of the Eastern Calculus were a group a highly-skilled hackers in the late 1990s. While it’s true that many of them committed suicide, it was a lie that their membership could not be traced. A list of all the members was actually leaked, and they either committed suicide or were assassinated. After the viewer response to the Death Gun story last episode, I would be remiss not to try to fool you with another anime plot, so of course this story was adapted from the 1998 anime Serial Experiments Lain. Last time I was worried that you would already be familiar with Chip-Chan, and this time around the story I thought you were most likely to already have heard of was Mariana’s Web. It shows up in a lot of lists of internet mysteries and has been reported on by a number of respected news outlets and youtubers. Except last time I was hoping you hadn’t heard of Chip-Chan, and this time I was hoping you had heard of Mariana’s Web. While it is normally reported as fact and as an actual mystery, the entire thing is an obvious hoax that began with a single internet iceberg image. The entire thing is bullshit and technobabble, designed to prey on the fear and curiosity of people who don’t understand technology. VR.5 was a terrible show on Fox in 1992. It only aired 10 of the 13 recorded episodes before being canceled. However, the series was never released on DVD, probably because it was trash that nobody wanted. There were several writers for the show, but episode 11, “Send Me an Angel” did not have a mysterious bonus writer. The fake pseudonym Jason Kendy is in fact an anagram for Danny’s Joke, because aside from a few small changes to remove British slang, this entry was written entirely by Danny. There is a lot of speculation surrounding the death of Oh In-Hye. The official investigation seemed to lack a lot of the most basic elements of due diligence that one might expect, but the official story remains that her death was a suicide. I don’t think I believe that, but unfortunately this was a true story. Finally that leaves Yeah Yeah Beebiss I. Funco definitely seemed to be caught copying Play It Again’s advertisement based on both lists being incorrectly alphabetized in the same way. However, just because it worked as a copyright trap, doesn’t necessarily mean it was intended as one. I’m actually inclined to lean more towards this being an unreleased localization of Rai Rai Kyonshis, but it’s unlikely we’ll ever know for sure. Still, this very real mystery captivated game fans so much that an independent developer released Yeah Yeah Beebiss 2 for the Nintendo Switch. So how did you do? Were Danny and I able to pull one over on you Also fun fact: my dialogue is so deliberate and full of awkard pauses because in the first episode I covered my face which I have since committed to, which means I can't see and thus can't read a script. These first two episodes the videos were done in a single take, which was a lot to memorize, but I have since learned to edit different takes together so hopefully it won't sound is weird and stilted in the future
Many thanks for this :) A very small suggestion for the next time, if there is one -- if the cut-off point for the comment shown above the "Read more" is somewhat constant over different platforms, please consider pushing the actual spoiler content underneath that.
Don't feel too bad Kevin, some of the blame should go to the video editor for not making your parts louder too. With that said it wouldn't hurt to reduce the voice modulator a little below "indiscernible"... Or for a laugh record the next one with the modulator set to "muffled warbles" for a few seconds before fixing it. ;) Either way, good episode.
@@Korelon7 Does it though? To me it's a lot like Tron, something that was cool at the time but makes infinitely less sense the more the average person understands computers.
Really entertaining format. Look forward to more of these. I would add however that though it lends an air of mystery, it is really hard to understand Kevin when he talks and would appreciate a little less voice distortion for his part.

The easiest way to explain a copyright trap is via the concept of "paper towns", the copyright traps of the mapmaking world. Basically, you make up a town or street or some other detail that doesn't really exist and, if you see it in someone else's map, you have proof they ripped off your map instead of doing legit work and take them to court over it.
Too funny, I was literally just going to leave a comment using the same example. I'm so glad I saw this comment, I would've felt like an idiot. Great minds think alike! Good call

G'day Kevin, Danny & Simon, These Fact or Fiction episodes are so cool, my answers were Fake-Fake (Danny)-Real-Real-Real, looking back the name of the writer (Danny's Joke) for 1 episode should have been the give away for VR5, so I guess I get 3.5. I love these! Only thing I got wrong was knowing which one Danny wrote. Also, I love that my favorite obscure anime was referenced. That was impressive! Much respect to Kevin for being a part of that small crowd! Or maybe he's just been around this planet as long as I have and remembers the good old days of anime.
@@ThatWriterKevin It certainly wasn't all that popular. A lot of people didn't seem to "get it" right away, which surprised me. I'm always shocked at how many people haven't seen it, but I've been introducing it to everyone I can because I think it's brilliant.
Another brilliant episode 👏 I will just say, the subtitles for Kevin's videos in the last/first one were incredibly helpful. Whether it's my age or the age of my tech, I did not get a single word of the reveal video ☹🎺 Ooh just seen Kevin's comment with the script below 🥳
Catching up on Simons's content, seriously this man puts out so many videos. With the first one I was like "why does this sound familiar?" then "Oh it's the plot of Serial Experiment Lain, I remember that from highschool" finally "F*** I'm old aren't I?"
I love this format. Definitely please make more. Would apprec A little less distortion on the Kevin sections though, it’s really quiet and hard to understand. Can you try a different audio filter next time, mini mouse perhaps?
My days of being a weeaboo were not wasted, I got BOTH of the anime references. On the last one I was IMMEDIATELY going 'dude, that's just SAO!', and then this time I had to listen twice but when I listened I was definitely 'yeah, no, that's some MAJOR Serial Experiments Lain or Ghost in the Shell vibes. I call anime.'
Yeah, he loves recording these so make sure everyone you know watches! As long as they keep getting views we will keep doing them! (But there's at least 2 more coming)
Another great one! The anime is still on my plan to watch so I couldn't tell this time. I did find it very hard to make out was Kevin was saying in the videos. A little less distortion or subtitles would be nice
Love Kevin's writing, my fav of all Simon's writers. Would love if Kevin looked into the Yvonne Johnson case for casual criminalist. At the time she was the only First Nations woman in Canada serving a ‘life twenty-five’ sentence for first degree murder. She has also co authored a book about her life and the crime that's a very interesting read.
I've really enjoyed both of these episodes and hope yall will do more. But, if there are to be more, is there any way Kevin's voice can be louder or could we get subtitles more useful than what UA-cam auto-generates? I had my tablet at full volume trying to hear and could still barely make any of it out, then when Simon makes comments or reacts audibly it blasts the volume, then I start that section over with subtitles on and that seems to barely pick up half the words correctly
I record with my phone, but I'll need to find a better solution. I think the next two are much more audible, but I think Simon was also just playing it on his device and hoping the mic picked it up
@@ThatWriterKevin fair enough, on all points. Excellent work as always, hoping that minor issue can be addressed one way or another, even if it's just better subtitles than what YT provides lol
Do you? Can you understand the explanation at the end with the voice modification? I can't. It's quite shit because it's a great idea. But no fun when you don't know what was true or false.
I got 3 as well, but the real fun is watching Simon's brain contort. I loved the collaboration and the added mystery of 'how did these guys connect?' More please.
Fun fact: in regards to the last story involving copyright traps. Map makers used to include fake towns known as "paper towns" in very out of the way locations on the map to catch other map printing companies just blatantly making copies of their maps & selling them as their own. The practice even lead to someone trying to create a real world town out of one of these paper towns in the more rural parts of NY where one these paper towns existed on a map, but nothing but unused land existed in real life
The TV show one was the only thing I got wrong. I honestly thought Simon was going to think the "Yeah yeah Beebus" entry was fake considering his early comments. Still, good job Kevin and Danny, hope to see more episodes like this and more collabs between you two.
I was so happy to see this! This format is very fun. Listening to Simon reason his way thru each story is an unparalleled glimpse into his ADHD brain. @Kevin Jennings - you are a legend! Love how you got brought Danny in on this! #FreeDanny
I just finished the first one and have been laughing through the whole thing. Serial Experiments Lain was one of my favorite anime growing up. I recognized every bit of lore and Simon's periodic interjections talking about whether he thought it was real or not made it that much more funny. XD
I saw Seriel Experiments Lain awhile ago but forgot the plot. But when simon started explaining the first one, I was like this sounds familier but I didnt know why. Until they said what it was at the end.

Was Lain really that obscure? I feel like I probably haven't watched much of anything that was obscure
@@ThatWriterKevin It certainly wasn't all that popular. A lot of people didn't seem to "get it" right away, which surprised me. I'm always shocked at how many people haven't seen it, but I've been introducing it to everyone I can because I think it's brilliant.
This was a fun video. Only issue for me was the lower sound level of the picture in picture video shorts featuring Kevin.
I posted the script for the solutions video in the comments since the volume is such an issue
@@ThatWriterKevin Thank you
12:31 "On layer 8 can you order a genocide?" If you live in Rwanda, you can do that on layer 1 my friend.
Really enjoyed this episode. Please make more like it!
Another brilliant episode 👏
I will just say, the subtitles for Kevin's videos in the last/first one were incredibly helpful. Whether it's my age or the age of my tech, I did not get a single word of the reveal video ☹🎺
Ooh just seen Kevin's comment with the script below 🥳
I really didn't think he was gonna fall for that one, but tune in to part 4 to see if I can fool him with Dragonball Z!
@@ThatWriterKevin legend
@@vigo0santiago Thanks!
Simon looked so happy starting this video. Clearly enjoying this fun!
Yeah, he loves recording these so make sure everyone you know watches! As long as they keep getting views we will keep doing them! (But there's at least 2 more coming)
Ohhhh this is what Kevin was referring to thanks Kevin I've been looking forward to this brilliant
Another great one! The anime is still on my plan to watch so I couldn't tell this time.
I did find it very hard to make out was Kevin was saying in the videos. A little less distortion or subtitles would be nice
Just finished the JBR and I get this treat. This is making my work day fly by
Love this format. Please keep them coming!
Please do more and I guessed the first 2 wrong but the last 3 correct completely.
Yes. Please do more of these!
As long as they keep getting views we'll keep doing them1
The "oooh!" At the beginning. 😂💝 Simon's a gift to humanity
I love all of your channels! Good stuff
The Simon Whistler Cinematic Universe and Crossovers is something I never knew existed, but I'm glad it exists. 😅😅😅
Sliders was fire when I was a kid! I also fondly remember reruns of Quantum Leap.
I love these! Please do more 😊
There's at least two more coming!
These are really well done, please keep making them.
Great job to you all! I only got 2 out of five, but I give myself extra points for not looking anything up while I’m watching. More of these, please!
These episodes are soooo good! Don’t feel bad Simon, I got all of them wrong 😂
I'm two minutes in and jumping in my seat. Kevin AND Danny... this will be a wild ride
This is great! I love playing along!
I love these!
We done Simon and Kevin and team!
Thanks!
Yes! Love this format!
Do you? Can you understand the explanation at the end with the voice modification? I can't. It's quite shit because it's a great idea. But no fun when you don't know what was true or false.
Love these, do more!
The practice even lead to someone trying to create a real world town out of one of these paper towns in the more rural parts of NY where one these paper towns existed on a map, but nothing but unused land existed in real life
This was fun! I adore Danny's writing so it was easy to identify his😂
And Lain!
Also, Aspen's edition was super on point!
The TV show one was the only thing I got wrong. I honestly thought Simon was going to think the "Yeah yeah Beebus" entry was fake considering his early comments. Still, good job Kevin and Danny, hope to see more episodes like this and more collabs between you two.
TFW you’re still watching the upload from 2 hours ago when you get the next notification 😒
Just finished the JBR now on to the next
@@douggaudiosi14 I have to go back to it. I’m skipping the other channels today, it’s Friday after all 👍
I was so happy to see this! This format is very fun. Listening to Simon reason his way thru each story is an unparalleled glimpse into his ADHD brain. @Kevin Jennings - you are a legend! Love how you got brought Danny in on this! #FreeDanny
Great fun! I can't wait for a third fact or fiction. Personal score was also 2/5! I did really badly this time, so well done!
There's at least two more coming!
@@ThatWriterKevin awesomeness! Looking forward to them! Hopefully I won't fall for as many this time!
this channel is so much fun
I support the Fact of Fiction episodes being a thing every now and then.
I'm looking forward to the next one! This was awesome.
I only got 2 out of 5 this time.
I love these episodes. Please do more.
Okay!
That was great! Keep them coming!
Love these videos, please keep doing them Simon.
You did better than me, I got 3 wrong. :)
PS-Not sure Jen is on your side here.....
Yes! Found another one! Love these
