3. Noland
Noland wasn't a pirate so he probably was getting funds from some kingdom, when he returned back he had to justify his trip and the next trip, that's why he had to say about the city of gold.
Very logical explanation. Also, Noland didn't witness the Knock-up stream during his time there. If he did, he probably may have said it was in the sky instead of the island sunk.

Skypeia arc is one of the underrated arcs in One Piece, believe it or not. But this arc contains a lot of information that will be crucial in the future, so pay attention to the little Easter eggs that Oda has planted in just this arc.... there’s a lot. Even to this day I have my theories but they’re just theories, nothing concrete.

One Pieces flashbacks are remarkably good, and I'd say one of the most memorable aspects of the anime. You can even use the big flashbacks as milestones for each arc, because they usually come right before the climax.
This is truly one of OP's best arcs.
I just realized that enel probably did that gold trick where he melts it into any shape. Nice to know now. I wish I realized sooner because I’ve rewatched this to much.

Ruff, fyi, some of the skypeia episodes are missing from the one piece playlist (had a bit of a panic attack until I saw they were elsewhere on the channel).
But also, man. I really forgot how emotional the Noland backstory was. Its sad but also kind of realistic of how history works. People twist things to their own convenience at the time and it can continue on long after the fact and it doesnt matter what's true. Take example Napoleon. Apparently not that short, but the enemy spread rumors to deface his reputation. Now we call people sensitive about being short as having a napoleon complex.
Yeah Napoleon was just surrounded by straight giants. The dude himself was pretty average.
Imagine that when we learn the true history of One Piece and then come back watching this particular moment again.
