I have a 2022 Himalayan which I love. But I'm thinking I need a road bike too and have been looking (obsessively) at Meteors and Interceptors. Both have the character that I love in a motorcycle or scooter and that it seems only Royal Enfield has gotten right. I hope to be able to add more RE videos to my channel and an Interceptor would be pretty cool.
Great video ! I've been a Harley guy for 50 years but not soley Harleys. I purchased a 2012 Royal Enfield 500 Classic Bullet when I was on the mend from a back injury complication. Great Thumper to get a disabled veteran back on two wheels. I currently own a 1996 Dyna Glide Convertible, a 2007 Ultra Classic, a 2020 SSR XF 250 dual purpose & an SSR 189 enduro. (people laughed at me for purchasing the SSR'S. I checked out, like you hours of reviews then made the purchase. The xf 250, 18 horsepower is capable of 70 mph on a highway with very little vibration! No regrets. Lightweight, good gas milage and the engine is a TU Suzuki 250cc clone) Next winter I plan to purchase a Royal Enfield Interceptor, THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK and you've covered all the bases as to why. A dealer in Florida for instance is selling new 2021 Interceptors, left overs for $5,199 ! That's a reliable 650cc motorcycle, vintage styling with modern upgrades new for $5,199 !!! Grandfather John Pennsylvania USA Livin the Dream
I picked one up in Jan 2019, and it has totally rekindled my interest in motorcycling. Zero mechanical issues in over 3 years. I installed the YSS kit with the front forks, which offered a substantial improvement in handling in almost all conditions. Replaced the stock seat with identical-looking RE touring seat, better for longer rides
Great video, Alex One thing that really appealed to about the Royal Enfield bikes over Harley-Davidson, which is my first love motorcycle, is the fact that the Royal Enfield bikes, in addition to them being much more user-friendly to new motorcyclists like myself, is that you're not breaking the bank when purchasing one with used Harley-Davidson motorcycles, you can easily be spending about $10,000 more than a brand new Royal Enfield bike
I’ve made a mistake on the service intervals. The regular service interval should be every 6,000 miles, not the 10,000 miles stated in the video. I forgot to convert it from 10,000 km to miles. My apologies everyone. (Source: maintenanceschedule.net/royal-enfield-interceptor-650/#maintenance-schedule)
Hi Alex my compliments for your new, first, bike. Less than 10 days ago I did the same choice purchasing an used ones. Previous owner already changed indicators that are really orrible. The first surprsing impression during the first trip was 'it is so simple to ride' really! It was as I already rode it for hundreds of miles. Have fun. Cheers from Italy
You're one of the few people that actually say air/oil cooled and not just air cooled, that's appreciation to detail compared to other videos covering this unit.
Great job, man. There's a lot of room for improvement, but I can see this channel taking off with your potential. You just have to learn a bit more about composition and start to sound like YOU, rather than some role model youtube you are watching. But I'll say it again... great potential! All the best from the Czech Republic.
Very good personal and honest review. I believe you’ve got yourself a beautiful bike. Thanks for sharing and your opinions. Ride safe and ride on. Take care. 👍
I bought the exact same bike/ color as yours a month ago. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. I too am 69 inches tall. I bought the GT single rider seat with the blue cowl off Ebay. I liked the looks but more importantly it seems to be about a 1/2 an inch lower than the stock interceptor seat. The lower height makes it easier for me to have my feet flat on a stop. Have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for sharing! I agree. Although the stock seat is sufficient, I do find it just a little bit too high. I plan on replacing the seat in the future with one from Corbin.
Alex, you mention the indicators. I don't mind round indicators because I'm ancient and when I was riding back in the seventies all bikes had indicators exactly like those, so that's what I expect. One thing that I have noticed specifically regarding the Interceptor 650 is that the indicators are round on the American version whereas elsewhere, certainly here in the UK but also in India, they are smaller and rectangular with rounded corners. Check out reviews by British UA-camrs (or even Royal Enfield's Interceptor promo which you show in your own video) and see what you think. Maybe you can order some.
Thank you for the insight. It must be due to the regulations here in the US. I do plan on replacing the indicators with smaller and brighter LED ones. I will be making a video about it in the future, stay tuned!
- I will recommend getting the 'Touring seats' for comfort during longer rides. Adding a hazard system is quite an easy diy search for 'Flash X'. Once you've completed the run-in and the warranty period, get a performance filter and a free flow exhaust (will reduce the overall weight) also change the engine oil from the company one. Ride safe. 🥂
Great choice and a very good review. I bought mine 2 years ago and it’s a keeper. You can keep it as standard as it’s a great bike anyway and spend any upgrade money on fuel or you can modify it to suit your own personal tastes. I fall into the latter category and have upgraded the existing seat, fitted YSS front spring kit and rear G Series shocks (really does transform the ride and handling), DNA filter + air intake plate, booster plug unrestricted header pipes from Stratos Performance (U.K.) and Zard silencers (they sound epic!) + sump guard, stainless brake and clutch pedals and probably a few other small items. It’s all about enjoying the ride for me and with the lower weight and unrestricted engine it pulls strongly enough and handles sweetly. I really don’t need anymore from a motorcycle but ask me again in 12 months and I might have modified something else🤣
Pretty good review Alex. I'll be picking one up next year. I purchased a Himalayan this year. My only advice to you is escape California and put the passenger pegs back on.
@@joebone3151 depends on if you’re in the US, you will most likely have to drive to the nearest city with one. I have one in Austin tx, some have cities that don’t
Go for the 10W50 Motul 7100 4T fully synthetic motorcycle oil if you'll take it to cooler ambient conditions than S. Diego. Otherwise, I'd use for the 15W50 oil that your dealer carries.
Thank you for sharing those, they look very cool! The only concern I have is if they are California compliant. They are extremely strict about modifying vehicles so I don’t want to take any chances. I know, it’s a dystopian society over here lol.
i agree it a good first bike or for around town riding, as far as highway riding goes, that depends the gearing and how the engine can handle it, if at 70 mph the engines RPM is 50% or less of the engines redline then it's probably adequate on the highway but if the engine has a 6500 rpm redline but it has to run at 5000 rpm to keep up with traffic flow speeds on the highway then it's not even safe for prolong highway riding, but it is a good starter bike for a beginner.....
Hi, I have the GT version, basically the same bike. The biggest con for me is the weight, even the GT (which lacks the heavy centre stand to be found on the INTerceptor) is around 200kg and that weight is fairly high, since the engine is fairly high off the ground. That makes the bike hard to right should you drop it (I dropped mine once, no damage other than an after market bar end mirror). I like the plastic, it's lighter than steel or Aluminum. I'm light and short so I needed to lower the saddle height further than the adjustment of the the shocks would allow and reduce the bikes weight (not too hard) but that's just me. Thanks for the interesting video, I think we chose the right bike.
loved the video and your style of presentation!! The Bike's engine is perfect for what its meant for but yeah there is room for improvement when it comes to suspension and breaking (which, in my opinion, are the only places that the bike is lacking), other than that it is a sweet Bike overall!!!!!
Just wait for meteor 650, shortly they are going to launch .It will be cruise oriented and pack of power. Also they are launching Himalayan 650 which is in developing stage. As they had launched Scram 411.Future they are launching Himalayan 450,scram 450 and many more bike's in pipeline with cruse control, traction control and many features etc...
@@chaitanyashervegar8234 the Himalayan 450 and its roadster version is what I'm waiting for, a 450cc liquid cooled single would be absolutely amazing!! If RE comes out with it then I can't think of any other bike, especially in the Indian market that I would buy other than that!

@@chaitanyashervegar8234 it all depends on your budget and need, there's the Tiger 660, Versys 650, CB509X, but these are basically road bikes and you can't do much off road on them, the only budget bikes that can actually do off-road are the KTM 390 adv and the Himalayan. I would not recommend Triumph if you're on a budget, again triumphs are absolutely beautifully performing machines but they are basically premium bikes with a big price tag. But again if you have the budget just go for the Africa Twin😅 I mean you can't go wrong there.(just a joke)
Hii as I am already thinking for Himalayan or scram 411 other than that I had kept options Suzuki vstrom on 650 and tiger 660 both have traction control.Cb-500x has good refined engine not no traction control.Does traction control improves the riding ability.Out of three which I should I go go for.Does traction control matters. Does tiger 660 has refined engine or I should go for tiger 900 as tiger 850 company has stop taking bookings which one is good as beginning rider. As I had sit on African twin it huge bike beautiful machine but as a beginner it will take time to used to it.Lot of people say even from honda said go for Cb500x then yu can go for African twin as a beginner.
Nice review. You mention that you considered a Honda Rebel. Honda Rebel 500 also would have been a good buy. Honda Rebel has the advantage of a low seat of 680mm for shorter people (hence 30% sold to females in the USA) and easier to balance as a new rider. For me, the Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor is the best buy for money, retro looks, flat bench seat, simplicity and therefore reliability. A great first bike that will suffice for all your motorbike days.
Hey thanks for stopping by! You’re probably going to be on your toes when putting both feet down with the stock seat. I believe the touring seat is a tiny bit lower, but there are aftermarket options as well. Boots with thick soles do help, but be careful, they limit ankle mobility making it harder to feel the brake and shift levers. Best of luck to you and ride safe!
You made a good choice. The RE interceptor will carry you right through to well after the learning phase. Its a great motorcycle. You can mod it all you like as you get more experience. It very detuned ( governed down) so the motor is bomb proof for as long as you keep clean oil in it at the correct level. Many change the suspension and i dissagree with that mod. The original piggy back suspension is perfect and im a heavy big built man. At 120kg and even with a pillion i can comfortably do the ton on this bike. The only mods i did was Hooligan cans, A booster plug to enrich the fuel air mix a bit and a K& N high flow air filter. That is all i intended ti do to it. I have a few way bigger bikes but this is great fun and the go to bike i enjoy to ride. You can buy a brand new tank or head for this machine and so many other parts cheap on ebay. Its cheaper to by a new tank already painted then get one fixed. Any way i love this bike. Its a real TON UP bike so enough power to get you out of trouble and also into trouble. You do not need more power then that on public roads. This bike should see right through to retirement and beyond. The longer you keep the bike and know it thr better so why change after that?.
Thank you for sharing, I completely agree! I bought it with the intention of it being my first and forever bike. I do plan on making more cosmetic modifications and some performance upgrades in the future. Cheers and Ride Safe!
Have you adjusted the valve "lash" (i.e. tappet clearance) yourself, yet? With it being just a screw-n-locknut adjustment, allowed by the engine's low rpm and power, it's an afternoon's DIY project!
Love the bike, my main gripe about the bike are the tubed tires, if you get a flat you basically have to call a tow truck instead of just sticking a rope patch in it 🤕 i like to ride long distances from home and want to be able to fix things quickly on the road 👀 replacing a tube really sucks, especially on a bike without a center stand 👀
As you said, the 47 horsepower isn't insanely powerful, but let's be honest and acknowledge we're not going knee down on our daily commutes. This has more than enough power for my ride that includes highways, suburban riding, and a stint in the city.

What a great video. I have a 2019 model and am no small guy 6’2” 290LBS and just took my INT650 on a 950 mile ride in New England mountains. My bike has 19k miles and runs just fine. Get a copy of the shop manual (you can find it online) and Learn to do the service your self but only after the dealer does the first service. I just replaces the break pads 45 minute job, and have to do the chain and sprockets next. Oh at 54 years old this was my first street bike as well. I had a bunch of dirt bikes when I was younger. Good luck and I look forward to more of your videos.
Are he services covered under he warranty. I saw some post online saying first service was $700 for basically an oil and filter change. Thanks.
@@TheMaskedheel not in the US. I would suggest you add the first service to the price of the bike when you buy it. In the US the price ranges from $400 to $700. I was lucky as I got the dealers bike and the service was do on it.
Really enjoyed your video. The humor, videography, and writing made it fun to watch. Thanks!
Thank you!
I have a 2022 Himalayan which I love. But I'm thinking I need a road bike too and have been looking (obsessively) at Meteors and Interceptors. Both have the character that I love in a motorcycle or scooter and that it seems only Royal Enfield has gotten right. I hope to be able to add more RE videos to my channel and an Interceptor would be pretty cool.
nice bro welcome to the RE family
No regrets. Lightweight, good gas milage and the engine is a TU Suzuki 250cc clone)
Next winter I plan to purchase a Royal Enfield Interceptor, THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK and you've covered all the bases as to why.
A dealer in Florida for instance is selling new 2021 Interceptors, left overs for $5,199 !
That's a reliable 650cc motorcycle, vintage styling with modern upgrades new for $5,199 !!!

Thank you sir, I appreciate the kind words. I’m excited for you, best of luck with the purchase! Ride safe!
What dealer is selling them for that cheap?
Nice intro. I am leaning towards it. Other contenders: 390 adventure, tiger 660 sport.
Awesome review mate, thanks for sharing from Australia
Great Video!! You convinced me to go ahead and purchase mine tomorrow!
Thank you! I’m excited for you!
👌🏼Looks great.. you picked the right one for daily rides .. meteor is a good one too..
Glad to know you love one of the best bikes India has to offer. ! Love from this part of the world :)
Congrats on your new bike! I wish to get mine in Sunset Strip color way soon. Cheers and RS! 👍
Great video, Alex
One thing that really appealed to about the Royal Enfield bikes over Harley-Davidson, which is my first love motorcycle, is the fact that the Royal Enfield bikes, in addition to them being much more user-friendly to new motorcyclists like myself, is that you're not breaking the bank when purchasing one with used Harley-Davidson motorcycles, you can easily be spending about $10,000 more than a brand new Royal Enfield bike
Definitely shop around. I put a deposit on my GT a few weeks ago and out the door it's 7200 in British racing green
Simple and straightforward.
got it myself & its an extremely fun bike to have
I’ve made a mistake on the service intervals. The regular service interval should be every 6,000 miles, not the 10,000 miles stated in the video. I forgot to convert it from 10,000 km to miles. My apologies everyone.

$7700 😭i.e ₹6,04,119😭😭😭😭
$4588 is the on-road (sub total after tax and registration) price in india
Excellent review Alex -- I like your knowledge combined with honesty and humor. Keep up the good work!
Great review and general RE info. I love your videos, good job.
Thank you for the support!
Congrats on your new bike .. and your new channel? :)
Thank you for your kind words, ride safe! CheeRS!
You're one of the few people that actually say air/oil cooled and not just air cooled, that's appreciation to detail compared to other videos covering this unit.
Thank you! I try my best to get everything right. Glad you liked the video.
Great video Alex, very witty and of course accurate. It's a great bike
Thank you!
Great job, man. There's a lot of room for improvement, but I can see this channel taking off with your potential. You just have to learn a bit more about composition and start to sound like YOU, rather than some role model youtube you are watching. But I'll say it again... great potential! All the best from the Czech Republic.
Thank you for your support! Cheers!
Its a wonderful bike and a Value for money product. Happy miles ahead.
Very good personal and honest review. I believe you’ve got yourself a beautiful bike. Thanks for sharing and your opinions. Ride safe and ride on. Take care. 👍
Thank you for posting this no-nonsense review. You did a great job.
Cool video man! They are fantastic bikes hey. I have an Interceptor 650 and 2 bullet 500s..."made like a gun" you bet 😎
Thank you! Ride Safe!
Good review...i'm going to test ride one here in the Uk this weekend
The video is well produced. Great!
Thank you!
Bro you have a bright future ahead of you. Subbed. Keep safe from Italy
Thank you! Cheers!
I'm ancient too, I have round signals. An Interceptor is a portal to the '60s. It's definitly a round thing. 👍
Good explanation on the Harley LOL! 👍
Apparently you can change the cam out and get another 10hp. Combo that with an A/M exhaust you might get 13 hp
Sportster tank is too small. Otherwise a great bike.
@@redtobertshateshandles I find the 3.2 gal tank to be sufficient, it runs dry about where I want to get off and stretch anyway.
Great work broo !! keep it up !!
Go for continental Gt premium touring seat , that looks good too and you can also put a cowl on it
I rode this bike for about 30min. I loved it. Great choice for beginners or advanced riders!
Nice review with relevant facts!
Thank you! Glad it was helpful.
i have exaktly the same, but a little bit modified. Its so easy to ride. love it
- I will recommend getting the 'Touring seats' for comfort during longer rides. Adding a hazard system is quite an easy diy search for 'Flash X'. Once you've completed the run-in and the warranty period, get a performance filter and a free flow exhaust (will reduce the overall weight) also change the engine oil from the company one. Ride safe. 🥂
Very good review, not knocking the bike,or particularly praising, but honest opinions .
Congrats! Great choice
Very well made video! the INT 650 looks super nice. I wish they had a blacked out model instead of the chrome.
Thank you!
Check out the 120 year anniversary edition! Extremely hard to obtain, but looks super cool!
And Royal Enfield said..... Your wish is my command
Great video thanks from the uk 👍🏻🏴
I've got a 05 superlide. Thinking of selling it to get one of these Royal Enfields.
you wont regret it!
I've bought myself exactly the same bike :) Have fun with it!
Pretty good review Alex. I'll be picking one up next year. I purchased a Himalayan this year. My only advice to you is escape California and put the passenger pegs back on.
I’m with you on the California part.
That was a very solid and informative review. Thanks for making it.
Thank you!
It's official. With my tip money and paychecks 2 or 3 months I should have one. I live in a fairly weather friendly state.
Financing one is cheap! Put a little bit money down on one and it’s an option. Make smart financial decisions though!!!!
@@dallas4112 alright I'm listening.
@@dallas4112 I make 15 and hour plus tips. Own my car free and clear. This bike is something right in my price range.
@@dallas4112 also do you know if you can have one shipped from the RE website?
@@joebone3151 depends on if you’re in the US, you will most likely have to drive to the nearest city with one. I have one in Austin tx, some have cities that don’t
nice video man
you earned a subscriber
Glad you liked the video! I really appreciate it!
Congratulations and enjoy! Also, it’s a great color.
Thank you!
Go for the 10W50 Motul 7100 4T fully synthetic motorcycle oil if you'll take it to cooler ambient conditions than S. Diego.
Otherwise, I'd use for the 15W50 oil that your dealer carries.
Thank you for the tip!
You may want to try SS Motocorp 2 in 1 or 2 in 2, exhaust. They are dirt cheap and reduces weight by 10-12pounds plus they have more airflow.
I love your videos and your style. Very well done. Congratulations on your Royal Enfield. Keep up the great work.
Thank you sir! I appreciate the support. You’ve got my dream garage there, a 911 and a motorcycle! Cheers and Ride Safe!
Really great job! Be safe.
Thank you!
Just purchased mine yesterday in Thailand
congrats!!
The frame is well designed but could be a bit lighter. Then the bike would cost more.
Good video- thanks!
loved the video and your style of presentation!!
Already Himalayan 450 is in a testing stage last seen on Indian roads in India with new features more power. Shortly they are launching in 2-3months not confirmed but as on UA-cam s they are predicting let's see.As I am also going for Himalayan or scram 411 or 450 let's see .As it is all rounder.Could yu please tell me how is triumph tiger 660 as I am planning for future.Should I go for tiger 660 or 900cc adventure bike please help me as new comer bike rider🙏🙏🙏
A great first bike that will suffice for all your motorbike days.
your way of delivery resembles to that of Ryan F9 😂😂
congratulations on your new bike though😊
Great video! Thank you 🙏💜
thank you!
Nice way of putting it
Nice video mate I’m on my learners license here in down under ‘ I’m a 5’5” wil I be able to safely plant feet on the floor?
Hey thanks for stopping by! You’re probably going to be on your toes when putting both feet down with the stock seat. I believe the touring seat is a tiny bit lower, but there are aftermarket options as well. Boots with thick soles do help, but be careful, they limit ankle mobility making it harder to feel the brake and shift levers. Best of luck to you and ride safe!
Costs the equivalent of about US$4200 on road in India here. And it's absolutely lovely:)
awesome video man 🤘🏻
thank you!
Appreciate the insight, will look into it!
Just get the alloy setup
As you said, the 47 horsepower isn't insanely powerful, but let's be honest and acknowledge we're not going knee down on our daily commutes. This has more than enough power for my ride that includes highways, suburban riding, and a stint in the city.
YOU MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE👍
I want one cause of the 270 degree crank, and cause they're about 30% cheaper than a Yamaha MT-07, the other 270 degree twin, here where I live.
Good video. Funny and true. You made the best choice 👍
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
