    Glad to see you flying again.
    And I totally feel you about the comments wanting engine noise instead of music. I have an explanation like what you said that I just cut and paste. In most cases they are complaining about wanting to hear warbird engines which is a hilariously loud constant roar that is impossible to record cleanly beyond idle power.

    • @tomcoryell
      @tomcoryell 2 роки тому

      You could possibly use a peak limiter on the audio.

    • @FlightChops
      @FlightChops 2 роки тому +9

      @@tomcoryell It's not that simple.
      Here's the blurb that I cut and paste for more detail, and I'll link to the example video in the next comment as UA-cam might filter the comment with a link:
      "I wrote the following reply to a comment on that Reno Air Race video that wanted to hear the engine sounds, instead of music; It actually inspired the commenter to turn about face and agree - maybe you'll understand too - anyway - here it is:
      "Even if I had the means to rig audio recording equipment in there to dampen the vibration (which I don't) I'd need a very special purpose build mic set up to capture clean audio with the insanely high dBs - which I also don't have. You wanna know what it sounds like inside those cockpits? Throw a microphone inside a lawn mower in the back of an open truck on the hi way - it's screaming, shaking, and one constant loud distorted roar with little to no pitch change - it is not what you think it is. When I could get good sound at low power interior, or from the exterior - I used it. Otherwise, this was about capturing the feeling of being onboard. JP the pilot in the mustang said he got chills the first time he watched the scene of his race in this edit - I guarantee you it was because of the music, which informed the pace of cutting the visuals. That is why the music is there."

    Good on you, Trent, for practicing those maneuvers. I hope this helps pilots out there realize the need to practice more often than the 2 year biennial reviews. I have always been a Reno Race fan my Dad and I shared it till he could no longer attend but I always usually found a crew I could help pit with up until the Jimmy lost his life in his bird. I came here for the FreedomFox content, but stayed for the Trent content. As far as the future, I personally enjoy the light instructional stuff (canyon flying etiquette, tips and tricks, etc.) not so much the really in depth technical parts. But I'd also enjoy seeing the more every day life, like you and your wife, drone stuff, and general adventures. Honestly I had an opportunity to transfer to Reno for my company and opted out of it. Seeing your videos of the area makes me wish I would have found your videos sooner. Probably would have swayed my decision quite a bit.

    Love that you regularly stall your plane a great regular safety item to practice regularly. One if the first things do in planes I have not flown or nor flown recently and if plane was worked on or under loved lighter,heavier then usual. Great safety thing to perform regularly t o improve safety and skill, slow flying and stalls.

    About the scenes, every landing and/or take off is so satisfying to watch. Especially yours because you're flying a nice bush kitfox ^^

    Congratulations to SARAH!!!!! I know how she felt, after my checkride I was the same way! I also had the same thing where I had to take the checkride in a plane I'd never flown before. NERVOUS!!!
    For what it's worth, you got me back into flying after a 27 year hiatus. In a video you produced a couple of years ago you had some great words about not waiting. It has made all the difference and I'm shopping hard for my first plane!

    You have always had great background music!!! I have on occasion really gotten into the music when you cranked it up and were flying IFR or thru the canyons. I have zero complaints about the content or structure of your videos. Trent, you do a great job juggling a career and family while entertaining me. Just do the best YOU can and let the party hit the floor. Wings up and rubber down. Thanks for all you do. AWESOME to see you are staying in touch with Sarah!! Way cool she got her license. I still remember when you called her and told her she won the scholarship. See...I told you... you do a great job. :o)

    The videos I find myself going back and rewatching a lot, are your low n slow to and from Oshkosh. I find the music clips with you and your friends in formation flying enjoyable and relaxing. (I’m a day dreamer and not a pilot that’s probably why)

    id really like to see a series of videos about how to fly, starting from instrument identification, preflight checks, startup procedures. basically everything you would need to know in order to familiarize yourself with a kitfox in order to fly. i know that experience trumps all but im setting a goal to own one in the next 5 to 10 years and i think learning as much as i can would be the first step.

    Since you asked. When you're not flying and the production permits, let's see some 'behind the scenes' on the gigs you are working on. Been working in your industry a long time (now retired) so it's good to see some production footage. Additionally I really, really love the 360 camera shots on the boom. Especially when you are over interesting terrain. It's all good!

    I came here because of the shared love of aviation, but I stick around because your just a cool dude that's in to a lot of the same adventures I am in to. From rc's, living a little off grid, dirt bikes, camping, and of course flying..... all the things. You do a good job editing videos in a way to keep the viewers attention, even in a less than exciting content. I'd be down to see more family/homestead action, along with some more work (drone) stuff. Keep up the good work!!

    I'm at the tail end of an RV-8 build with my dad. Your videos made me want a Kitfox or bush plane. Build #2 is definitely going to be a bush plane.... maybe a Vans RV-15 or RV-16 when they are officially announced.

    Enjoy all your content, watch the channel for you rather than just the flying. Will gladly watch the full length "boring" flights with you rambling on, even just a standard "Day in the life of Trent" would be interesting!

    You were talking about STOL, turbos, and heatsoak.
    That's a super easy fix with no CG change. You could add a water to air intercooler with the intercooler brick up front and the heat exchanger in the belly with a small electric fan for stationary cooling.
    You could also just run an air to air intercooler up front with another 10 pounds forward of the firewall. Either way, you would have all the power on the ground even with waiting in traffic. Actually you would have a little more power and reliability across the board with less heat in the motor.
