anyone watching this and worrying about university / how much work they’re doing- please don’t stress or work yourself too hard. university students absolutely can have weekends and it’s always better to work smart than work long hours x
I used to be like that and when I started medschool, I knew that I had to study and I really wanted to. So it became way easier. Now I can study between 10 to 12 hours a day where I could only do 4 or 5 at most in highschool ( and when I say at most, I mean two times a year when I hadn’t studied for a big exam )
@@anadacosta4043 Getting paid is the only good side. We do have lots of stuff that we do while at home as well coz working hours aren't enough to complete. And by we, I mean in India (coz that's where I'm from).
I paused on your timetable to see how you use your time on a productive day because I have a lot of work to catch up on and I see you have no breaks except 10 minutes for lunch and a 45min walk? Like damn I could never do that, that's really impressive. I know you don't like taking breaks because it disrupts your flow and you just switch to slightly easier/ less demanding tasks. I use to be able to do that too but then I fell into a depression because of things happening around me and now I completely lost my drive. I'm able to study for an hour at a time now which is a big improvement from a year ago where I just started crying as soon as I sat behind my desk. I really hope to find that drive again where I naturally just keep going and I don't have to drag myself forward every minute of a study session.
Don't beat yourself up for it, you're doing the best you can! I'm definitely not as productive as I used to be in the past, I tend to do chunks of study with little breaks in between or I lose all my drive. But I heard it's actually a good thing, so one can get up, take a short walk, drink a glass of water... Instead of remaining sitting down for too long. Music helps me tons to concentrate maybe it can help you as well! When I listen to something I like I find the studying much more enjoyable :-)
Do only how much you're able to! As someone who is recovering from depression and having some health problems (I have to sleep for 12h to function well and still geting tired after about 6 hours of living) I simply don't have the same amount of time nor energy as healthy person. I try to don't push myself hard, because in the end it will make everything worse. But you know what? I still manage to have rather good grades at uni, maybe I'm not the best but probably I have to put the same effort as others (including my health limitations that make things harder). So please, don't be harsh on yourself!
I definitely felt the same way you did and actually did develop a disorder over too much stress. I lost my drive completely I completely didn’t feel like doing anything. I usually work on a podomoro timer for abt 80/10 which is 80 minutes of work and 10 minutes of rest. I usually slowly bump up the study time period along my day if it’s starts out bad then I’ll start at 25/10 then I’ll up it slowly. If it starts out okay I’ll go from maybe 80/10 and slow down. Recovery is not a straight line, take one step at a time. It’s not healthy to study for lengths at a time. As much as I truly wish to have Ruby’s attention span and motivation, it is important to know that she most likely only does this she has a bunch of deadlines or upcoming exams.
Ruby, please make sure you’re looking after yourself, a 10 min lunch break is not all that normal, you do deserve a break! Speak to your lectures about access to books, don’t get too wound up about all of it (easy for me to say on this side of the screen)

The way I look at it is, most people with an average full time job only work 5 days a week and typically get the weekend off..so why should uni students be expected to work 7 days a week? Hey ruby! Thank you for this video I loved it soo much! Gave me a break from this awful maths problem and gave me a boost to give it another go! Thank you 🧡
Aww the music at the beginning brings me back to my childhood watching sleeping beauty. I love Tchaikovsky also 💕
Your videos help me so much in my academic life.
@Ruby: Maybe you could try to drop some of the candles‘ wax into the candle holder and then press the end of the candle into the wax while it’s still hot. In this way you could secure the candle so that it’s standing straight. I really have a bad feeling because it looks like it could fall out of the candle holder very easily and burn something.
Thanku so much for this vlog. Much needed....🙏🙏🙏
We’re all in this together, Ruby. We can do it. I believe in you more than I believe in me.
