I was starting to lean away from the Apple Studio Display from so many reviews that say it’s not worth the price, but your points really validate and clarify my personal preference for the Studio Display. Apple integration is a plus and there is something to having something that makes you happy. I went down to the Apple Store a few weeks ago and I loved the Studio Display. Oh, and thanks for the comment about the Nano option. I was leaning towards getting that because looking side-by-side at the glossy, the Nano texture was glare-free. Although the contrast wasn’t as rich. It still looked nice, but just overall more dull. Thanks for the real life review.
I got an Apple Studio Display a couple of months ago. I spent a lot of reviews and there is a time leaning towards LG 38" Ultrawide, but I never regret about my decision now. I used this display next to office window, but I have not got any issue of the reflection on the standard display. The reflection will be only problem if your window is back. As you know Nano option also decreases the contract. I do not think it is worth. If you consider, just go for it. No regret even in 2024. I personally recommend high adjustable stand for ergonomics. Your body or health is the most important other than anything else.
It's the Studio Display for me. I love everything about it, the image quality, the incredibly high standard build quality and beautiful design ... perhaps not the cost so much. There are really only two other 5K 27" options in Australia . The discontinued LG Ultrafine 5K has pretty much disappeared, without even second hand or refurbished models to be found. That leaves the Samsung Viewfinity 5K. The image quality is fine, though a little flat for me. The build is just plastic, with really flimsy and finicky height adjustment. And speaking of stupid toggles and buttons to adjust brightness etc, you have to use a remote control on the Samsung because it thinks it's also a smart tv - it's a horrible experience. The Studio Display is expensive but I see it as an investment. I don't need or want to nano option, or height adjustment. It's built to last and can always be sold if my Mac addiction starts to put my mortgage repayments at risk.
I've been using the Studio Display for over a year now and I'm very happy with it. I use it with my Mac Studio and MacBook Pro 14, and sometimes with my iPad Pro M1 and it works flawlessly. It's far superior to its direct competitor, the Samsung S9, both in terms of panel quality and build quality. Unfortunately, 120Hz isn't supported by the Thunderbolt 3 interface, as the specifications for that interface don't allow for anything above 60Hz at 5K. The only real issue is the single-area backlight, which isn't great in contrast (but better than the 5K iMac panel, which no... isn't the same as many say). Oh yeah, and it would be nice if Apple provided drivers for Windows without having to resort to any weird workarounds. Another problem is that Apple does not provide drivers for Windows and you have to use strange tricks to get them. You already said everything else!
Thanks for your long term review. I’ve been using a 2010 iMac as an external display for the last few years. I know it will die soon and this is the monitor I’d like to move to.
I love the look of this monitor! I just purchased the iPad Pro M4 with the Magic Keyboard. How well do you think this display would work with that set-up? Your video was very informative❤!
While 120 Hz sounds nice on paper, you also have to consider pixel response times. If it’s slow, it looks smeary and doesn’t _feel_ like the 120 Hz from OLED that you’d expect.
@@ZuLangable Hate seeing this blatantly false claim. You can get 5K 120hz easily with DSC. That's the only way Apple can get 6K on their Pro Display XDR.
I'm torn between the Apple Studio Monitor and Eizo CG2400....I appreciate the obvious differences, but I want it for 60% Photoshop and 40% other apps....Not being able to try them side by side, I welcome any informative opinions...I use a Mac Studio computer...
If i put my ear 2 inches above the top, i can hear the fan. If you don’t do that (which you never will), the monitor is dead silent. I’m actually pretty sensitive to those buzzing and whine sounds and was a big reason I got rid of my old monitor. I now have 2 of these apple displays and it is completely quiet!

No matter what Im staying in house, going with the Studio because I like the full body aluminum ❤

Well said! Studio display 4 life!

Integrated with my Apple ecosystem it’s absolutely amazing! I love it!
I just bought one and used it for the day. Short answer to the videos question: yes.

it works great even with older iPads. it's the perfect combination if that is the type of setup you want!
@@BrandonMeves Yay!!! I think I’m going to give myself an early 🤶 Christmas present 🎁! Thanks so much for your reply!
I need ProMotion. Come on Apple.

This is my main hang up with the studio display
for 5k 120hz you need thunderbolt 5 there are no macbooks that have that yet

"adds to the space" is an underrated point. Most monitors are plasticy and ugly as hell on a desk
Agreed!

No experience with the Eizo here unfortunately
Haha....just one Sub 😁 (true that)...was thinking of getting it and your video pushed me to do it.
At my local Apple store, the nano texture one had a visibly better camera. I asked the rep, and they weren't sure why.
I’ve never heard of that! Odd…
Me neither, they were SBS too. I thought it was odd. It may just an anomaly.
It’s a nice 👍
Expensive but hey if you use it everday it’s worth it
Agreed!
I got mine for $800 with box and packaging
What a steal!!
I don't think it's possible to do 5K 120 due to bandwidth. But I suppose they could have made 4K 120 over USBC? Not sure
Nice video
Thank you!
If I can afford the iMac with 16gb and 512ssd or the basic iMac mini with the studio display, which should I get?
whatever is more important to you, for me minimum 27” screen is a must
I like the flexibility of having a separate monitor. Maybe you wanna hook up a laptop to it next someday
Got it this week for $1100 from someone who upgraded to the Pro Display XDR. The camera is way worse than my iMac M1 though.
Nice haul! Agree on camera though.
Does the monitor emit any buzzing sounds (coil whine) or fan noise?

@@BrandonMeves Thanks.
Hi. What resolution do you use it at? 2560 x 1440?
5k.
It's 5k downscaled to 1440p, meaning it's 1440p with retina effect on 27 inch monitor. If only it had 120 Hz, that would be perfect.
@@Sol-ub3ww For some strange reason I don’t find the lack of 120Hz a problem on this monitor like how it is with the iPhones (ProMotion).
Believe me Apple know all those cons, but his greed due costs dont leave them do it.
120hz at 5k is impossible with Thunderbolt 4. Gotta wait for Thunderbolt 5.
