So what's YOUR finishing move?
As a Nigel Mcguinness fan, I'm flirting with the London Dungeon.
@@noahduncan8757 Nigel is such a talented guy. Refresh my memory - was the Dungeon that Ace Crusher variation?
@@TilWeMakeIt Close, that was the Tower of London. The London Dungeon was that top wrist key lock.
@@noahduncan8757 Ah, yes. The Dungeon and The Tower are rather different!
I made up a move I call "ALMIGHTY" I super kick them in the knee so the drop down on there knees then I spear them . Or just tackle
Using a non protected finisher makes it special in a way that the wrestler gives it its power, like Jericho’s back elbow or even the various DDTs
Yeah like an armbar. Someone does it normally it doesn't win but then someone comes along with bjj experience and they're the master of the arm bar, then it works every time.
Just a thought from a wrestling fan, perhaps a lack of universalism could be a benefit to a finisher for expanding storytelling.
For instance: A wrestler is in a match with an opponent two heavy to powerbomb. Realising this, the wrestler is forced to adapt and change his strategy, going for unconventional means of defeating his opponent. A challenge that could engage the audience that asks: "How will he win without his finisher?"
This just happened with Gunther and Braun Strowman lol
I'm thinking of using the crucifix driver. If you've seen the movie Logan, then you probably seen the fight scene in the woods. Logan does a move similar to the crucifix driver. That's what I'd like to use
There's a lot to consider. Thanks for pointing this out.
Yeah, it's a process, more than some arbitrary choice.
Mike your videos have helped me so much in my career thank you
Thanks for saying so, I appreciate it!
The rainmaker is so simple, but so hype.
Just started wrestling school and looking at ur videos is really helping
Glad to hear that Itz - thanks!
Mike I just wanna thank you so much you know a lot about this business and you are a vet. I will be wrestling soon at a training school I thank you for all this information you installed. 😃😃
Any time, and best of luck to you!
I literally met this man once at a seminar I learn so much from this the little things counts
Thanks very much!
Been flirting with the idea of going back to training and these videos are making me wanna go back even more, been thinking about using emerald flowsion
I'm a simple man but the finisher I choose the Emerald Flowsion. I keep brainstorming ideas of how to hit the move out of nowhere.
My finisher is called the Goetia's Fall. It's essentially a pop-up lariat, followed usually by a submission
Useful as hell
I'm glad - thanks!
I always thought the Slingshot Suplex was a super cool finisher!
I agree.
Someone once said, “believability” and “less is more”. He was right!
My finishing move would be a Double Underhook DDT but with a legsweep. It would be called "The Lobotomizer" cause... You know, it damages the head. The only thing the other guy should do is protecting his head with his hands, which I should let go while falling.
Ive been a enthusiast of the chokeslam
Back when I was a yarder believe it or not I got my finisher off a video game.(Tekken 5) anyway my finisher was (and still is) a fireman's carry stunner that i called (At the time) nightmare syndrome. What makes the finisher unique is that not a lot of people have use the move, when I did my research the only one who used the move was a wrestler (lei'D Tapa)
Always a big fan of the Gotch style piledriver, but its dangerous if you fuck up.
I'd love to use a submission hold just because it would translate well with my background in submission grappling!
In a way I feel the "protected" element ends up negating most of not all of the others. Namely risk factor, complexity, and even adaptability. And this happens because the finisher "has" to be something nobody else would do. I remember seeing a shoot the other day HBK was the butt of, talking about how back in his heyday virtually nobody in the WWE was doing siperkicks and nowadays you've got everybody and their mother throwing out superkicks practically after the first tie up. This kind of thing forces a wrestler to come up with a move so bizarre, so convoluted, and at times so contextually-dependent all to avoid doing something anybody else might pull out as a filler spot. Leg drops, DDTs, hurricanrannas, even long delay vertical suplexes have become so commonplace it's virtually ompossible to put them over as finishers anymore.
i’m still young but i plan to be professional wrestler so my finisher is while my opponent is kneeling and i do a bicycle knee strike, also i love the figure 4, and also a diving double foot stomp from the top turnbuckle
I have this thing where its a kick to the gut but its a fake out and I twist into something kind of like a one footed mule kick
Hi Mike!
When naming a move, does it have to make complete sense to your character? Or can you name it something that has a more personal meaning to you?
I was thinking of using the One wind angel
I'd suggest you use a modified version of it if you want to use it
Just thought of a move named Jo! Jo!
It's a super kick while the opponent is on their knees. Very simple and little margin for error.
Sweat chin music is my finishing move 😊😊
Hey man, I'm thinking about using a sit-out chokebomb as a finisher.what do you think?
I've got two moves, the OK stunner( spinning torture rack onto stunner) and the German suplex project( German suplex but you maintain the waist lock like a chaos theory and than do a project champa style power bomb)
So it's a German Suplex Backstabber? That sounds metal af
I'm thinking about becoming a pro wrestler! Would a "Mule kick," or a handstand dropkick be a good finisher?
Currently I’m using a spinning knee strike called the “KILLSHOT” as my finisher. I came up with it awhile ago and really like it because it hasn’t been used much and it looks pretty good when I use it. However, the people I train with think I should use that instead as a setup for a shining wizard (finisher), but so many people have done a shining wizard, and if sold right, the spinning knee strike could be a simple yet well received finishing move. What do you think Quack?
Hey Jared - I think a way to look at this would be: which move looks better when you do it? Is the KILLSHOT more consistent and spectacular, or is the Shining Wizard? The reason I think of it that way is this - if you order them incorrectly, and the set-up move ends up getting the BIGGER reaction, then the finish will naturally be a step down from that, and feel anticlimactic. You want to climb up so the finish is a climax, not step down. If you follow what I mean by that.
Well 1st I'm trying to figure out how to sign up for it and 2nd I gotta come up with a plan to make this work I keep having this dream that I was at the arena I went up against The Miz and beat him with a 630 also known as my signature move called the thunderstruck
Too close to Christian’s “kill switch”
Swerve used to go by the name killshot in Lucha Underground
I’m thinking of using one winged angle
I'd suggest you use a modified version of it if you want to use it
As someone whose training to be a pro wrestler I’m using something that would be universal, the Pumphandle GTS
Actually, I wish wrestlers would bring back the Tickertot. It was a cartwheel with your boot connecting with your opponents head. It has since passed from wrestling to MMA.😞
The Steiner Screwdriver is just my favorite finisher ever lol …just devastating
Seriously. The one Scott gives Hiroshi Hase in New Japan is insane (I think that's the same match with the Reverse Frankensteiner in it!)
hi i was thinking that i was gonna do the coup de grace or the rko with the name of the point blank would you have any input on which one would be better with this name?
Choose more than one finishing move this way if you are injured or sick that night or not able to climb on the top ropes to do a fly and body press it will still look good.
If I was to ever try and be a pro wrestler, there are three moves that I can think of off the top of my head that I would love to make my Finishing move. The first one was move previously used by Kevin Steen (better known as Kevin Owens) which as then being called the Steenilzer, it's essentially a bridging package powerbomb or piledriver, whichever you prefer to. The second one which I've never seen anyone do before is a twisting Death Valley driver. In the sense that as your doing the move itself you're doing a full 360 degree spin. Another variation on this that would be awesome would be to keep spinning, essentially turing a twisting death valley driver in to a twisting death valley cutter. The third and final one that I would love to do is probably one the most simple moves out there, that being Randy Orton's punt kick. What do you think of these choices?
I always wanted to go with a torture rack that turns into a cutter kind like a reverse AA
What you can do after makes it a lot more fun hold on and roll over for the pin, make it a signature that goes into a north south choke finisher, float over for a dragon sleeper or really any sleeper
I want my main finisher to be the TKO, but I’m not very good at lifting people up so I might need to work on that one
The sweet chin music as my second finisher. That’s fairly easy so no problem
The triangle dropkick as my first signature. I want to use it as a tribute to the first ever wrestler I ever watched, Suicide
Anaconda Vice as my last signature to use as a tribute to my favourite wrestler of all time, CM Punk
With a little practice, I bet it can be done! A fireman's lift is easy to train for, and once you get that balance point, the TKO isn't far off!
@@TilWeMakeIt Cool! I’ll make sure to practice

the quacken crab sounds hilarious tho
Started training recently having my first match in a week my finisher is a lariat to the back of the head called the backcheck. My trainer has taught me to hit it from out of nowhere so I started working on a variation from a fireman’s carry knee which pops his head up ready for the lariat. Variation is also very important to me hopefully it all goes well.
Nice! Where have you been training?
the only finisher i havnt seen from wrestlers is walls of jerchol
I've always had an interesting idea how my character when I get into wrestling would would have a completely different moveset depending on whether I'm calm or angry. If I'm calm I would do a lot of limb grapples and wear down moves, and when angry be doing wild powerful strike combos and slams.
Calm finisher would be some flashy arm or leg submission (still undecided). and my angry finisher would be a gut punch to make them buckle over and an axe kick to the ground as the follow up, and then several stomps to the back. I would be yelling through all the stomps, and the pin.
Is this a good idea, or too complex?
If you can pull it off and avoid making it goofy. Yes
@@dudesouls if the character is a jeckle / Hyde type, what triggers the transition is extremely important.
Facial expressions and body movement will be paramount in order to sell the character.
Some mime/body movement instruction would be something to consider.
How does the calm side walk/run compared to the angry side.
Posture, resting body movements, little tics, how the body/ muscles are presented.
How quickly can you transform everything together.
Even control over your facial muscles and especially the eyes movement and dilation come into play when doing this sort of acting.
What other activities cam you draw on to pull experience on building the character.
For my finisher I’m thinking 3 different versions of the cutter on all called the sami Cutter so I’m thinking for the first version a rip-cord cutter 2nd a spring board cutter 3rd version is the Uno Lock it’s a dragon slayer
My finishing move is called the “Big Bang” I’ve got it from how I’m chaotically interested in the solar system, I basically get my opponent on my shoulders, but its how Ryback lifts them up on his shoulders, do a reverse AA, landing them face down while my knee hits their face.
I have this idea for a finisher it’s a reverse full Nelson DDT
Cross-Rhodes.
How do I make a finisher a regular move I’ve seen it done
If I was a wrestler for example can I have more than one submission or finisher?
Rubicscube but it’s extremely dangerous and I don’t wanna hurt anyone on accident. Do you maybe have som suggestions that are safer but is kinda like that?
Hi Mike, not sure if you'll respond, but I have a question about your archived seminars. I was wondering if they would be downloadable or if the link is reusable, i.e. so it can be watched multiple times, or if there is an expiry on how long the video will be available to view after purchase?
Hey Jacob! If you grabbed one today, you'd have 30 days to watch it as many times as you like. This will probably change by the end of the year, but I'm keeping it that way for at least another couple of months. Which one caught your eye?
@@TilWeMakeIt Thank you for your reply. I've had my eye on a few of the seminars. The Atypical match structure, signature set theory, match structure, tension and storytelling and tag matches are the ones I will be getting.
@@jacobtingle6183 Roger that. I have a worksheet to help with the Signature Set one, I'll make sure you get that as a PDF so you can work right along with the seminar. Thanks man!
If you are thinking of a finisher you have to think to yourself am I able to do it on people from all types of weight classes, like having something as a super kick is great because you can do it on someone who severely outweighs you and it's easy to set up, think of someone like Finn Balor who is 200 pounds do you think he could do a power bomb to someone like the big show? No thats why he has a diving attack that doesn't have too much set up and can do it to anyone regardless of weight, submissions are excellent because when we think of submissions we think of Ric Flairs figure four leg lock or Brett Harts Sharpshooter where they can do it on opponents of all different sizes, something as a strike or kick or diving attack or submissions are definitely great to be able to do it on all types of opponents and being able to have a strike or kick you can hit it out of no where, I really appreciate submissions as finishers because they are my ideal finishing maneuvers along with strikes or kicks because it's easier to set up and your able to do it to anyone and being able to do it out of no where to hear the crowd pop is a delight
This is a smart guideline to adhere to! Great point, Johnny
@@TilWeMakeIt Thank you you gotta think about all types of opponent's you will encounter and if you are 5'11 and 185 pounds taking on a 6"6 300 pound monster there will be no power bombs that you will be dishing out, if I was a wrestler it would be crucial for me to have a finishing maneuver I can do safely and being able to do it to any type of opponent and maybe pop the crowd in the process. Something like a running knee strick isn't necessarily jaw dropping but effective enough to do to anyone regardless of the weight or size
I have four finishers, but I'm not kinda satisfied. I have a Lifting Rolling Cutter (because i like Cody Rhodes), Fisherman's Lift transitioned into a Emerald Flowsion (because i love Mitsuharu Misawa), Cloverleaf Submission but elevated more while kneeling on the back, and inverted cloverleaf with heel hook. That's all.
Oh yeah I used to to the Lifting Rolling Cutter but then I replaced it with a Cradle Tombstone Piledriver because one time my opponent botched the bump and landed on their hea
Garvin stomp is the best finisher of all time
9:39 did he accidentally cut the part where he gives the definition of move protection?
To the first point take for example Bailey. Her Bailey To Belly is a simple but over finisher that looks good and gets the crowd to pop. Meanwhile the Rose plant is overly complicated and fumbly and also not that spectacular. I'm sure someone is gonna berate me saying the Rose Plant is their favorite finisher but honestly Bailey should have just stuck to Bailey to Belly.
Can curb stomp be a finisher move in pro wrestling
Ye
Hey Mike, so I have a question about a conversation I had not too long ago applying to finishers. So I've been trying to perfect a move that I've seen Marty Scurll do called "Black Plague." It's kind of a double underhook twist bomb thing. It's kind of hard to explain. Anyway, there's this other individual who is doing a double underhook DDT as their finish. I asked since we both have the same setup for our moves with both starting in the same underhook position, if I can continue to use the move. She agreed I could. But I was wondering, does that affect anything in terms of what the audience is expecting if that makes any sense? If not, I'll try my best to reword it. Thanks so much.
I know what you mean. It starts like a DDT but turns over into a back bump at the end. So at the start, the Plague is going to look the same as the Double Underhook DDT to the audience, only the ending appears to be different. One is a head and neck move essentially, while the other is a back move. So: is there anything _wrong_ with either move? No, of course not. But if you are on the same cards, and you both have finishers that start from the same set-up, what will probably happen is the audience will confuse them to a degree, and perhaps decide that they *really* like one of the moves, and then the other becomes lame duck. If you are committed to going forward into this scenario, I do have a recommendation for you. Design a ritual that precedes the butterflying of the arms. Meaning: before you even apply the double underhook, you have a character ritual that is so clear and distinct, it helps dispel some of that confusion. If you read my book “7 Keys to Becoming a Better Performer - A Book for Fellow Pro-Wrestlers" this is Chapter 5. Hope that helps!
@@TilWeMakeIt This helps so much! Thank you.
@@noahduncan8757 You got it, Noah!
Hey Mike, I Don't currently recall if you touched base on this in the video but what would you do in a situation where you've come up with a move or a new variation of something and someone asks you if they can use it? Just an hour or so ago I had someone on TikTok ask if they could steal my finisher that I've been using for 11 years called Sleeping Beauty and I mixed on how I feel about it.
That's a really tough spot. Chances are, you could say No! and they'll just do it anyway. People take moves from others every single day - I've done it, too! Half my offense was lifted from Jushin Liger when I started out! I think the best thing to do is accept this for the compliment that it represents, and agree gracefully.
Or the dko
Hey Mike I have to ask a question I am 6'3 300 lbs but I'm really athletic for my size and I kinda wanna to a 450 as a finisher I've pulled it off plenty of times but from some of the critics I've heard it's not right for a big man like me to do it any thoughts if need be I can result to the other finisher I use also I can see why cause my stature is more of an Otis but 6'3
I would say you save it as a big match finisher. 450 Splash at 6'3 at 300 pounds is very impressive but it could take a big toll on your body. Do as Mike says, consider the risk factor. Also check how many people do it in your wrestling fed. If you arent the only one doing it, it would cause issues
So, just a question. First of all I'm still relatively young and long way off to being a Wrestler but I've always wanted to so my question is am I able to use a finisher that someone had used in the past and had retired? We're mostly Talking Brock Lesnar's F5 since it always looked kinda cool and yeah he's relatively young and far off from retirement but by the time I make it to WWE I don't think he's gonna be there since as I said I'm a long way off, but that was my question.
There is no one, absolute answer to this, unfortunately. You may not have any choice over your finisher if you make it to the WWE main roster. For example, quite a few of my friends and peers had to demonstrate they could perform their intended finisher on the heaviest or biggest person on the roster - like Mark Henry, Big Show or Khali in the past - and show it could be done safely, over and over again. Failing that test, they were told to choose a different finisher, or had a new one assigned to them.
so lets say if I want to use another wrestlers finisher like the Attitude Adjustment do I need to ask for permission or would I be allowed to use it or do I need to ask for permission to use it?
If it's possible, ask. But I get the feeling John Cena is unlikely to respond ;)
The walls of jericho is the Boston crab
Missed out on having a Boston Crab you call the Boston Quack.
When I started, believe it or not, my very first finisher was a Half-Crab.
@@TilWeMakeIt If you didn't, you should've called it the Half Quack. lol
My finisher would be Clothesline from hell.
Submission finisher would be crippler cross face
i have 2 in mind. a diving senton, similar to like shotzi or akira tozawa for example
another move i have in mind is literally impossible (probably) on anyone who isn't a cruiserweight, but its the orange crush. i'd want a mix of el generico's speed and kenta kobashi's technique to it.
kenta doing it here (ua-cam.com/video/FEUSV9wtyhk/v-deo.html) is quite slow. el generico on the other hand here (ua-cam.com/video/drXcPswW0yw/v-deo.html) does it fast, but has a weird start.
i kinda want to be able to use it unexpectedly, cuz i think having a finisher that doesn't have a lot of set up (rko, stunner, attitude adjustment, etc.) is what makes a finisher great
A spearing Damian
So what is the best finisher in your opinion ?
Of all time? I think it's the ones that are forever linked to one person. Like the DDT is to Jake Roberts. Anytime I see a DDT, all I can think of is how pale an imitation it is of Jake's version. The Michinoku Driver is another example. There isn't one out there that even remotely compares to TAKA's version. Who does El Caballo better than Santo? Literally no one, ever.
Totally agreed
Scott Steiner's suplex into a pile driver.
Illegal now.
Too many ppl seriously hurt
Hi!
I do not wrestle in college or professionally, but I have created my own finisher at home. It's called "1770" . It's kind of a variation of the "Futureshock DDT", but instead of driving the opponent's face into the mat straightaway, I lift the opponent up and then fall down. Please comment on this. Anyone is welcome to do so. I just want to know if it is original, or if someone already has this finisher. Also, if it is original, can you please rate it out of 10?
Also, I have a submission. It is like the single leg boston crab, but my neck is in under the knee instead of the arms. I know it may seem painful, but it isn't for me. Can someone plz comment on this too.
I actually like finisher idea so I’ll rate it 7/10 cause it seems like it could be pretty hype in a match
Thats a good and creative move, but it is also used by Jon Moxley in AEW, he uses a variant of the Double Underhook DDT, but he elevates his opponent first. He calls it the Paradigm Shift
@@felixa-v5737 Yeah. By now I've changed it ;D. I DO lift the opponent up in a Double Underhook, but instead of making the opponent land on his head, I rotate him so that he lands on his back. It's awkward, but it's original (I think :) )
@@shahmeershaheedi7386 That is nice... Have you made someone tap out with that move?
Can you choose two finishers??
Maybe? But this sounds more akin to Signature Set Theory then Single Finisher Theory.
What about creating a totally original finisher??
That's what is discussed around the 3:45 mark of this video. Was there something specific you were thinking about?
@@TilWeMakeIt More like what was your mindset when you created your finishers
@@Smith559 Well, thinking about the Quackendrivers specifically, I would take a root idea and try to spin it in a new direction. So, the original one, the "classic" so to speak, I looked at the Razor's Edge that Razor Ramon was doing, and thought "how can I take this basic concept and do it in an entirely new way?" And then I just experimented with 3 variations to figure out what looked best, and had the lowest margin of error. A different example would be Quackendriver 3. There, I took two shapes I really liked - the Michinoku Driver and the Fishermanbuster - and I experimented with combining the mechanics into one move, until I had something that was fresh. Each has its own inspiration, but I take different paths to get to the end result. Know what I mean?
@@TilWeMakeIt Makes a lot of sense. Thanks for your pearls of wisdom

I feel like a finisher is a lot like a joke. If you need to explain it (I.e the audience can't just intuitively figure it out ) then it's bad.
I can't be a wrestler due to my back problems but I was wondering would these finishers or should they be Signatures?
Noogies of Doom: Grabbed your opponent in a side headlock and give your opponent eight noogies. Then smash his/her face onto your knee.
Wrestling is crap because of things like the concept of finishing moves, absolutely no surprise whatsoever, you know when it's coming, you know the match always ends on a finishing move, it sucks.
