It might be worded poorly but it's solid advice
You think that's funny? that's good advice. It means accept you have and and its ok but everyday be a little better until its not an issue anymore.
The problem with people is that no one can do anything for themselves. If you cant fix it for you then no one can.

I remember years ago Pewdiepie pointed out how BetterHelp is pretty sketchy and a bunch of UA-camrs came out and apologized for advertising BetterHelp.
this. they then went away and now they're back and I'm like... everyone forgot already??

Web / Mobile developer here.
UI is intentionally confusing, and we are talking about users with mental health problems.
This company is trash!
There is a term for this, because it's so widespread: Dark patterns
That's exactly what I was thinking. How can we keep depressed people paying for a service they don't want anymore. Make it harder to actually cancel, put lots of hurdles in the way...because we know depressed people are unmotivated and have problems with things they perceive as being hard or time consuming.
I used betterhelp. The therapist on there was actually alright, but... the price model was just too much. So i hit the "quit therapy" button.
that’s scummy if the button the unsubscribe is actually, “quit therapy.”
I contacted them once and asked how Betterhelp respects Hipaa and protects their customers' privacy. I was informed from management, "Hipaa doesn't apply to us. We make no promises about your personal medical information." Talk about a huge red flag.
So basically they straight up just saying "we're scamming your wallet by pretending to lend you liars' ears and promises, none of us arelicensed healthcare professionals."
Then they are not a legit medical company. Great job in checking this.
Any medical company that says HIPPA has no bearing on them. They need to be shut down. I wonder if someone can call the better business bureau.
They've already been made to pay a fine of $7.8 million for selling customer data. It's not a red flag at this point, they literally don't care about your privacy.
@@RWhite_ 7.8 million fine to a billion dollar business is nothing.
Hipaa is the responsibility of the individual counselors. It's not dependent on a business. However, if the business handled records in a way that violated hipaa they could face millions of dollars in fines.
The fact the cancellation button is red and labelled 'Quit Therapy' is fucking insidious.
Remember people - they dont give a fuck about your mental health. Just your money
So true.
As I mentioned elsewhere, I contacted them and asked how they protect people's privacy and protect Hipaa laws. A supervisor explained to me , "Hipaa doesn't apply to us and we make no promises about your personal information." I wanted to make sure I didn't read it out of context and followed up asking the same information several ways. That's their stance.
She said you are paying for them to look for a therapist. There are complaints from people with long waits and no therapist, but still charged. A counselor's office would charge you only when you arrive for the first counseling session.
And also I was told by that "Betterhelp," supervisor that some of them may only text you. All your friend or family member's "therapy," is text if that's how the "therapist," chooses. I picture someone making money at home texting a case load of 50+ people.
tbh, these days its hard to find someone who actually cares, its 2024, mental health care is a gold mine for the providers.
Literally all therapists.

3:09 “Quit” also gives a negative connotation. Possibly a dark pattern for multiple reasons …both the coloring of the cancel buttons and phrasing they are labeled with. “Quit” is likely meant to make the user feel bad for cancelling their subscription when they could be canceling for any number of reasons… dissatisfaction and looking for help in another service, potentially not feeling like they are in need of therapy anymore, or simply can’t afford it. Meanwhile the company is attempting to make potentially depressed people feel bad for cancelling for whatever reason by forcing then to click on something that could make someone who is potentially unwell feel as though they are a “quitter.” I feel like this of intentional. It’s disgusting how people truly looking for help are met with a company who is looking to take advantage of them from the start

FYI a lot of people on YT who take sponsorship from BetterHelp *delete* comments that call out BetterHelp. I regularly comment on BH-sponsored content and find it deleted later.
ofcourse, its all about $$$$
The red flag that prevented me from using better Help, as the service was when you sign up, it outright tells you that it is not associated with licensed professionals in addition to that it will not take any form of insurance. Other companies that have been out on UA-cam as fraudulent are things like established titles/rocket money and many more
general rule of thumb, don’t buy the things influencers sell you
This era of UA-camr sponsorship sucks. So tired of it.
Unless it’s LTT’s screwdriver, that thing is actually very good
Better yet, dont let yourself be influenced by morons
Depends entirely what it is. Usually if you buy into a sponsorship, it's because you were wanting a product like that anyways. Just look around at other reviews and use your brain

"You also have to press "Quit Therapy" four times to actually stop your subscription." This seems literally illegal in some way. Like, weird hidden instructions?? Not to mention extremely manipulative to make someone with mental health issues doubt their decision.
I tried BetterHelp. The subscription hid that you were paying for 3 months instead of 1 so it charged me way more than I thought, I got matched with a guy who, while telling him the things that were bothering me replied "I don't know what you want me to do.".... Bruv, you're the "therapist" I'm swindled into listening to for 3 months, you fuckin tell me. It takes forever to have a conversation because you go 1 email every couple days, so while it might be cheaper than going and paying hourly, it's gonna take you months to actually accomplish anything if the fuck on the other end knows what they're even doing.
Darkest time in my life, and I had a 1 year wait at any therapist office where I live, so I chose this out of last choice. 4 therapists. 4 no shows. 8 hours of my life is gone due to waiting until they basically said "Oh something happened to your therapist, but we can try again next time with a new therapist." Attempting to deceive is lying. Too many people think there are semantic loopholes that make deception ok because they narrowly define lying.
since we're here let's go ahead and do a round up of sponsor issues.
mobile games(like Raid, Genshin, Dragon city): primary progression is a gambling, gameplay often intentionally grindy through time based resources like energy.
VPNs (like Nord, express): benefits of VPNs is over stated and promises they can't keep like
-'no logs': impossible due to CSAM/hitman/drug purposes and implementations like RADIUS protocols, there are public court cases where 'no log' vpn log were used.
-'increased security': true only against Man in the middle attacks which are extremely rare with modern protocols.
-Raycon: overpriced compared to quality for 80 fucking dollars for the cheapest set.
-food kits (factor, hello fresh): it's delivery food but once it arrives you still have to cook it, many reports of food arriving stale and over ripe and not lasting long in the fridge, it's way cheaper to buy the ingredients yourself.
-Displate: flimsy thin metal that's easily bent, a lot of their catalogue is AI generated so you have to wade through slop.
Honestly, for the food ones, just find a recipe and buy some groceries lol you don’t need a subscription for that
The Incogni ad is ironic considering how difficult it is to cancel THAT subscription.
It took me 2 weeks of being told "oh we don't handle that service, go here instead" and THAT place telling me "we don't handle that, the people who sent you here handle it".
And "privacy" giving ur data and access to some other sus people behind that incogni service...
Idk, kinda ridiculous make a video to critique betterhelp and sponsor that other groups.. and I'm not defending betterhelp by ANY meaning saying that.
I think people have bills to pay but like, couldn't be another sponsor just for that video in particular? Haha
*_"If you would like to stop your recurring payments, reach out via email"_*
Huge red flag right there.
It should be as simple as a click of a button. Anything less is an obvious scam.
I don't think I've ever used a service that's been advertised in a youtube video. This seems like the best practice.
Wait wait wait, that's not true. I paid for Dollar Shave Club for 6 months many uears ago. Their stuff was decent for the price.
My tinfoil hat theory is that they sell your recovered stuff x2 or x3 once you cancel it
Good to know
Praying on the vulnerable and disguising it as help is disgusting
Sadly many many companies do this one way or another
Praying doesn’t normally help. However, preying does.
I used it. It was just like other therapy, but cheaper. 🤷🏻♂️

They just settled a lawsuit. People are getting payouts for it soon. I've got money coming back from it too. According to the email I recieved, they're sending out payments starting June 17th 2024, and check payments by July 2024.
Seems like BetterHelp was revealing a lot of info to different companies for advertising, despite saying they wouldn't do that. And some of that info was answers to their health questions.
Talking about hurdles with quiting better help, the people who sign up are people who are already struggling or exhausted mentally and every little hurdle becomes a much bigger issue when youre already struggling mentally
Betterhelp passed me around faster than the workers in a red light district. I had 30 different people in 30 days. And they wouldn't give me my money back. They're a corrupt, horrible company who doesn't care about your mental health at all.
the advertising strategy of betterhelp is also something that needs to be made illegal. Using actors and influencers to pretend to be your best mate pretending about how they used a mental health service should be hella illegal.
Theft by deception is indeed illegal... If you can prove it that is
im seeing kids buy prime drinks and alwasy try to warn parrents when see them having kids buying the cans becuase those are the energy drinks and the bottles are the sports drinks. and if you see something like that and dont warn them then you karmicaly get attached to it if somethign bad happens.
Sounds like it ends up with your wallet needing betterhelp.
Cinema therapy also uses betterhelp as a sponsor. They dropped them previously and now they’re back.
Kyle Hill was informed about this, in the video "Exposing Science's Biggest Fraud", ironically, and ran defense for them in his comments.

As a rule of thumb it’s probably a good idea to assume most UA-cam sponsors are a scam. I think this is the third time hearing about a sponsorship being a scam. That one where people become a lord in Scotland, and another one I can’t think of.
NordVPN is another... The company claimed they could shield your info but was leaking it for years without telling anyone

I always thought Scotland thing was a joke. I was just upset there are no environmental campaign
Oh you think this is bad, Disney+ is incredibly difficult to unsubscribe to as Disney indulges in similar tactics on their website to make unsubscribing incredibly difficult. You know a decade ago, this would be something I'd attribute to a shady MMO publisher like the now bankrupt and defunct Trion Worlds, but seeing this sort of behaviour everywhere now, makes me really angry.
a while ago sky bought out my isp. first I heard of it was when I got a bill for sky internet, I immediately called to cancel, and they said I had to join them for a year, because my contract with old isp was yearly, and they would take me to court if I tried to to cancel. I said "OK lets got to court" and they immediately let me cancel. I wonder how many people stayed with sky for a year because they didnt want to go to court.
wait.... so they just let anyone do counselor work even if they were not certified? WTF
That prompt at the bottom of the cancelation page said "press quit therapy 4 times for it to work" that is insane and have never seen a choice or instruction used on the web before. Thought stupid crap like that was the "true secret way" of for sure 100% make sure your subscription is canceled
thats so fucking toxic for your brain also, agreeing to statements like that, its no longer about keeping people in your business model but also not caring about that you are making them feel like since Betterhelp didn't work for them, NO therapy can work
I worked in the field of Psychology for 10 years as a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
Most counselors/therapists care about their clients. But the administrators and marketers, and sometimes billing departments are often exploitative. They aren't all bad, but many are, and will exploit people with severe mental health problems.

After doing gate duty when I was in the military I came to understand not many people pay attention to signs. There was a long road with plenty of time for people to make a u-turn with multiple signs saying that they are entering a military installation and 100% ID check in progress along with random vehicle inspections as well. There would be so many people surprised that they were entering a military base. And many people would also look surprised if we asked for ID. Many would come up with different reasons why they didn't know or didn't have to.
Now, understanding that it doesn't surprise me that people get tricked into clicking things quickly because they are so used to the cancel and accept buttons are usually placed in a certain way or have a certain color. Many sites are opening that you do that, heck sites are also wording things in such a way that you don't know what button to push. I have seen it worded where if you hit confirm, where you would think you would be confirming to cancel, you're actually confirming stay on the platform.
I had people around me try better help. One of the gems I was told is the therapists stating "the addiction you're describing isn't in my flyer so it's not a real additiction" another was "what happened to you isn't that bad and you should be fine, stop complaining"
A lot of channels temporarily stopped BetterHelp sponsorships and jumped back on the bandwagon when the controversy blew over. Cody Ko, Jacksfilms, Philip Defranco...just to name a few. These people have no actual morality just want that sweet sweet sponsorship money.
2:31 Yes, that is indeed on purpose. It's called "Call to action" and is a useful trick to get users to click on the action you want them to take. Also, the human brain responds faster to colors than to text so making the button you want them to click being green is intentional.
About ten years ago, home chef food box service would change the cancel button to resign at the are you sure to cancel option.
The thing that bothers me the most about Trash Taste accepting a sponsorship from them is that I'm 99% sure they've said before that they vet their guests AND their sponsorships so that they don't end up promoting shit like this.
If so, that was a fucking lie, which honestly at this point, I'm not really surprised. 2/3 of them have been getting worse and worse over the past year or two, so my trust in them as a collective has gone down significantly.
Which two of them are you talking about if I can ask?
Pretty much every youtuber/streamer doesn't actually give a shit about their audience which should be obvious, after all we're watching a video of a certain someone who's organisation they're a part of didn't bother to do a basic background check on a charity middleman company which would have let them find out very quickly that the charity middleman was pocketing most of the money.
TL;DR youtubers/streamers are cripplingly addicted to easy money and are more than happy to promote any meme scam in order to get another paycheck

Most websites say "Thanks for staying with us" or "Your membership has been canceled" to confirm what you did. BetterHelp doesn't do that, you click the green button and you move on with your day and you can't do shit about it. If the buttons had no colors it would be better to confuse people this much.

Pro tip: Ridge wallets will DESTROY your pockets. They may look fancy but the metal and sharp corners will tear through fabric. Just get a normal leather card holder or wallet.
lol I have no idea what you're talking about, the corners are rounded
Have a ridge, the only thing that it messes up are the cards themselves. Scratches the fuck outta them.
this is your funniest video ever, i usually watch you for common sense/logic vids, so it hit me by surprise at how funny you can be.
The issue I have with these UA-cams taking on Betterhelp adds is they lie and say they used it themselves. That makes them part of the scam.
Exactly. Celebs literally have their own line of private therapist.
It's possible that they use the service themselves, but the company gives them better quality service that they vet themselves rather than the services available to the public. I've worked for companies that do this before.
I was told I was going to "move on" if I didnt get the coof shot. Man thinking about that stuff makes me loathe my fellow man.
You already loathed your fellow man. You're speaking nonsense right now mad at nobody.
I was told everybody i know was gunna notalive because of that and how much of a monster i was for thinking it wasnt a big deal. I was told millions of people notalived from it and was the most dangerous thing ever. Turns out it was only dangerous if you were already sick with something else. Turns out hospitals were getting huge amounts of money from pharmaceutical companies to falsely label any notalive as that. Our policians knew in November 2019 and sold their stocks, pharmaceutical companies knew probably even earlier because they shat out billions of doses of their RNA gene sequencer in less than 6 months
@@ianfarris9396 You really should learn how to troll
Tf is a coof shot 😅
The issue is deeper than people give it credit for. Even Asmons example of comparing it to a raccoon implies there's an individual or small group responsible, but it's an entity. If youve ever heard the phrase "being a corporate cog," this should make sense. Once a business, company, corporation, etc. has enough cogs... it becomes a cycle, and a reflection of the operators and the consumers. It is what it is
It’s still wild to me that people blame those deaths on Travis Scott, like who do y’all think he is? He isn’t his security, he’s not a medical professional, he’s not a concert organizer, he’s not an omnipotent deity, he just makes music.
Went through this with Artesian Builds as my first sponsor. It sucks seeing people get screwed but it sucks even more having that damage on your brand and losing the money you *thought* you were going to make. Triple whammy.
I keep listening to creepypasta videos at work that get interrupted by betterhelp ads. One channel has paid in video ads for them. I'm just sick of betterhelp, raycon, manscaped, hellofresh, but betterhelp being the worst of them really says something, and it's the epitome of grifting.
For the record, WoW did this account cancell hurdle crap too.
I quit the game during burning crusade and wrath. Creating or renewing a sub was one page, payment information and one click.
Canceling your sub was a minimum of 6 pages and a survey before the button to cancel would even appear. They scored one extra sub from me with that crap because i was in a hurry and couldn't find the button easily the first time i tried to cancel. After it rolled a new month i was motivated then to find it.
they only changed their policy within the last year or 2 that their "therapists" are even required to be licensed. Before they got fined and outed, their policy literally said it was the customers responsibility to make sure the clinician they're seeing was qualified. Mental health issues kill people. This isn't something to go about so lightly
its ironic that the video is about betterhelp being a bad sponsor yet they have incogni as a sponsor aswell. I have heard that if you sign up you get less spam calls but as soon as you leave you get way more spam than would have before joining.
I nvr get spam calls and if I do it's like once every few months. Stop signing up for everything under the sun and clicking random links on social media 😂
The sheer amount of ads I experienced from better help on UA-cam just gave me the ick. So I just assumed it was some scammy shit.
Yeah same thing with that get a title in irland by buying a plot of land.
I haven't seen an ad on UA-cam for a couple of years now... Brave browser
@@arkadisevyan”become a Scottish lord today it’s the perfect gift for Christmas” 😂 people in the uk were laughing our arses off when we saw that one
Just report all of them?
I dont think everyone forgot, I was on UA-cam 6 years ago and definitely didn't hear of betterhelp controversy
Been on youtube since at least 2009, this video is the first one I've seen calling out better health.
I remember the issues with Beer[whatever] which was also very hard to unsub to, and with Established titles [a complete scam,] but other than those two I haven't really heard about any other scams [other than the obvious gambling/crypto crap.]
Better Help had some WEIRD commercials a while back... they made me feel uncomfortable...
oooh I remember the "Julian says..." guy. that one was hilarious! xD
I just want to note, that Theo Von has been promoting better help for a long time, actually I'm pretty sure he started doing ads for them right after the first time they were exposed years ago. I remember many people in the comments telling him not to advertise that service, with lots of those posts getting up voted near the top. I like Theo as a comic, but there's no way he doesn't know better help is extremely shady at the least, unless he is totally disconnected from his community entirely. Definitely lost some respect for him for that
He pays 100 dollars for his openers while making tens of thousands for 1 session. He's very stingy and money hungry
Yeah, I thought of Theo right away because he does so many commercials. I can't believe how many UA-camrs promote them. It's a whole lot of people.
i literally just saw a better help AD on your video featuring Daniel thrasher 😂😂
I mean 90% of stuff advertised on youtube is massively consumer unfriendly and deceptive. The ad rates are so high the only people that are willing to pay them are have to be unethical. The problem is that when you have an unregulated auction and spots are sold to the highest bidder the high bidder will always be the guy running a business with 70% less overhead than the competitors i.e. a scam.
Never Trust anything that is advertised and sponsored by UA-camrs
Never trust anything... Full stop
@@LordSleven I don't even trust you, and I agree with you... ;)
If there is money for advertising, it means that money did not go into the product.
@@MazeFrame An irrelevant point. Brain rot really did a number on you
Betterhelp sponsored Corridor Crew's video yesterday with the spot read by Griffin. I'm seeing Betterhelp popping up a lot of places again and thought that's what this video was addressing. Many of the videos that Betterhelp sponsor have comment threads with people complaining about the sponsorship and other people defending that they may have a sponsorship contract.
I remember i started seeing a bunch of people promote betterhelp then pewdiepie made a video talking about how basically anyone could sign up and become a therapist. Crazy if just keeps popping up. And when its off youtube its being advertised all over podcasts
the video from upper echelon is basically a more drawn out version of a video from Soggy Cereal from March 18th.
A good rule of thumb is if multiple youtubers promote something, it's most likely a scam.
Nord VPN’s a scam ?
Nord vpn
Raid shadow legends
Yfood
MMoga
different games
Is any of those a scam?
Youre rule is the worst rule i ever heard.
@@juanitoalcachofa3485 no, totally legit, now Established Titles, THAT was a scam
@@juanitoalcachofa3485 Well... Nobody needs a VPN unless you're doing something illegal. Otherwise there are plenty of ways of protecting your privacy that are completely free. Also, they have been hacked multiple times and their users data has been compromised so... In that sense your privacy is less safe with Nord VPN that without it. So... In my opinion... Yes. Nord VPN is a scam.
@@sonicartzldesignerclan5763 Nord VPN and Raid shadow legends are scams yes. I have never heard of the other ones.
"Everybody else is crazy"...yep thats how the crazies see themselves.
Exactly; I couldn’t help to grin when asmond was talking about it. Like, sure buddy; the Diogenes syndrome streamer is gonna have a shot at pretending to be rational again.
I think that's also how cults get you lol
Almost certain that's the joke he's making.
First of all, he’s making a self-aware joke. But second of all, he’s more sane than most of the people taking the time to try and shame someone else on the internet for how THEY are living their lives. 😉
@@juanitoalcachofa3485he’s making a self aware joke. He’s not being serious. Why do you watch this channel if you feel this way about asmon? Hate watching is being his biggest fan 💀👍
As someone who struggled with mental help, and have seen ludicrous improvements in my life after I managed to get a good psychiatrist and psychologist, it pains me to see people being led down the wrong route. Therapy can help you a ton, meds can help you a ton (in specific cases) and it's sad these companies are allowed to operate and ruin therapy image and potentially make people who need therapy never seek it again after such experience.
I think pewdiepie already did this video years ago right?
What sucks is that a UA-camr I watch a lot of keeps promoting them, and they get called out a lot, but he just doesn't care. Even with all the problems with BH, he continues to work with them.
The UA-camr is Bigjigglypanda.
Wonder if caredash would have made more money if they did the Classic "No spots available for this therapist, however, if you have the membership you can skip the normal line" then they just direct you to the therapist actual page. Enough people would forget the membership so they could def milk them. About 70% of gym memberships are paid by people who don't even go after all.
My dad always taught me that "sorry means never again." That's what an apology is. You recognize that your behavior is wrong and you change that behavior forever. Pretty simple concept.
The "we want your data-cooki-confirmation-popups" do the same vile UI tricks. I believe it was called the "Dark Pattern" - Diablo4/Mobile used this I believe.
That quit button is a dark pattern. A dark pattern (also known as a "deceptive design pattern") is "a user interface that has been carefully crafted to trick users into doing things, such as buying overpriced insurance with their purchase or signing up for recurring bills".
I think you just helped me find an idea for my case study for my ethics class thank you haha
I'm surprised how easily people forget. The Betterhelp scam was a huge deal in the past. I have seen the ads on other creators videos, too, but I assumed people in the comments were roasting the creators. Never checked the comments for them, I can start leaving more comments about the scam sponsors. Some of the gold scam companies get pushed a lot, too.
I haven't seen any sponsorships in a while since I got that extension so I didn't even know BetterHelp was back.
Sponsor block is such a blessing
What? What is that? Are you talking about add block?
@Giggles4692 it's a bit different; ad block will block pre/mid/post ads, but sponser block will skip the portion of a UA-cam video that is an ad read.
Report the ad too for fraud@@caddph
Another thing if I want to cheer myself up I go to Walmart to people watch, my life may not be perfect but at least I still have the will to shower.
Why you gotta be shttn on Asmon in his own comments man, not cool bud

Dude, if I needed emotional support I would talk to a friend instead, I want you to offer me something to work with. How do I change my perspective, what do I do to work towards fixing a problem.
