If you and your husband ever get the chance to visit Xinjiang I think you will be very pleasantly surprised. It will feel like home with the culture and people, but also Chinese since it's blended in. Not to mention the amazing nature. Definitely recommend!!

I have met a young couple in Thailand recently. They were from US and flow to Singapore and they were traveling from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and then to Cambodia and Vietnam and before going back to US.
We have happened to have a casual friendly conversation and I have asked them since they are so near to China, why not go to China just for a few days to see China. I told them China is very interesting. But I was surprised of what they told me.
They said according to all their media reports in US and advice by their government and many other people. They were advice and told not to travel to China. Even their parents don't allow them to go to China. They were told China is not a safe country to travel. Very dirty, poor rundown infrastructures, poor transportation system, polluted, homeless people are everywhere waiting to rob tourists are common even in broad daylight. Chances of been detained for no reason by the Communist government is very high. Because China is an authoritarian state and all foreign visitors are monitored by thousands of cameras everywhere and every minute where foreign visitors go. Foreign visitors from western countries can be detained for months or even years for no reason.
All these is what they know about China. The couple is like below 25 years of age and already so badly brainwashed by their government and controlled media. This is really sad.

There are many people in Germany and Canada where I can speak for, that still believe in almost everything that our MSM publishes as the Gospel. Freedom is expansive, and I wonder how can you have freedom, when you are not sure how to pay your Rent, Heating, transport, Food, Healthcare, or even to buy your own house ?

Special choice, Fuzhou! Many foreigners visiting Fuzhou for their first time in China are those practicing Karate, as the most acient form of Karate is from Fuzhou and they want to explore. The word "Nun chuck" is actually from Fuzhou dialect pronunciation of Chinese phrase 兩節棍.

Do you have Chinese ancestry? I feel like you look a lot like people from northern China, really. If you go to northeast China and don't speak, you'll probably be mistaken for a local.

In most of Russia the people also look like Chinese people! That’s because most of Russia is Asia and some of them are Chinese but got absorbed into Russia when Russia invaded northern Asia and took over the land that were inhabited by Asian people, especially tribal Asian people, such as the Inuits and Eskimos as well as Chinese!
