Wonderful performance! I happen to play the banjo my self although I haven`t reached your level. I have some notes I downloaded but they seem to be slightly different from yours. Do you have sheet music or midi for the version your doing here? Greetings from Norway! Inge Riise Iversen
@jinjanjango How good do you want to be and how much time do you want to spend each day. Looking at this video it looks as though he is repeating finger rhythm interspersing it with something else, a bit like Irish fiddle. So give it a try and see if you can find a local meeting place for support.
My gods, someone that understands humor and doesn't get offended over random text on the Internet! To YOU Sir (being the first thus far) I formally apologize(for the first time on youtube actually lol)! Folk fra nord er ikke så dum likevel, eh? ;) Jeg skylder deg en øl i Valhalla!
Thank you I really enjoy your playing. You have a very distinctive style but to my ear you could do a few less of your hammered triplets. Although that might be that I'm just jelous I haven't got the hang of them! Keep twangin'
Uhm...... I think you've got your facts wrong. The three most famous and renowned Vikings, Ivar den Benløse + Herald Blåtand + Erik den Røde (two of them Kings) were Danish. Yeah, that's right Danish. Not Norwegian or Swedish. The Danish Vikings discovered most, traveled down to southern Europe, Greenland and even North America. They also build the first military establishments/fortresses known as Trelleborgs in Denmark. Viking Longhouses and Longboats origin from Denmark. Get your facts rights.
@jinjanjango That also depends on what kind of banjo you want to play. For Irish music the short scale tenor banjo is best, the long scale tenor banjo has more power for jazz and ragtime and the plectrum is the most versatile banjo for melodic music. For country music and old time ballads (and bluegrass of course) the 5 string is the instrument of choice. Dig around UA-cam for a while and see what appeals to you the most.
I have to say I seriously like your version of Congress reel.. Fallen in love with it thanks of your playing.
Wish I could play it one day as fast.
Lovely to jam along with my fiddle. Great swing! Steady playing, Nice setting.
Very nice sir. I am teaching my students about the Virginia Reel this year in music class. Thanks for sharing.
smashing reels....nice style and proper pace
Am I the only one who can't help but move her feet? Well done!
love this! heard it on sherlock holmes and loved it here!
Amazing that the banjo almost died out once. Incomprehensible. Seriously.
